Thompsons worked for me on a compensation case and made it all really straightforward. Initially I asked what to expect realistically and by the time they had submitted everything I got more than double what they had said! No doubt thanks to the work from Freyja! Would definitely recommend. Thank you!

Edited to add - after looking at other reviews, as an “L” myself in the LGBTQIA+ I had no issues and did not find anyone homophobic towards me.

Initially impressed with the prompt response, I sent further information as requested and was told I'd hear back withing a couple of weeks.
6 weeks and multiple requests for communication have been ignored.
I accept they will not take every case, but a quick email to say so would be preferable to just ignoring people.
When there are legal timelines involved, e.g with ACAS, delays like this are really problematic as it then leaves less time to instruct another solicitor

I was very happy with instructions and direction given. Very helpful with any doubts or questions I needed answers . This combined in successful outcome.

I contacted Thompsons to discuss a recent accident. I was given a call back time of 3pm from a lady on an Edinburgh number. As I live in the highlands, I waited in a location that had good phone coverage so I would not miss the call. I gave up at 4pm. No courtesy call to say there would be a delay, just no contact. This company was recommended to me by a colleague, I will not be reciprocating this recommendation.

I enquired to them, as they make out to be LGBTQ+ friendly, however they said they can't help me as "I'm not an existing client".

I needed a very important statutory declaration, and it seems that any excuse to get out of helping with that.

They are definitely not LGBTQ+ friendly.

However. The physiotherapy offered is an absolute waste of money. Online consultations, doesn’t come close to a face to face meeting. Anyone can go on google and get the same information for free.

Thompsons dragged me around getting me to do all the work for 18 months then dropped the case out of the blue. Not only that they have left me with an ongoing court proceeding that, again, I will have to deal with. Charlotte was extremely unprofessional, slow and spoke to me with zero respect. Couldn't even call to explain her decision, hid behind an email.

They had helped me before and took my case on this occasion I needed help with dental negligence, they spoke over me and were really rude, and unprofessional

Totally useless. Go with someone who cares.

Do not use this place!
I had an employment case.
I had contacted this firm on two separate occasions, once when first spoken to acas, second time when the ET1 had been put out.
First time I had a missed call but called back and was told I'd hear back from them. Never did.

Second time I had a better response. I had spoken to a person, I believe her name was Emilia. We spoke about my case, she was not a solicitor as far as I am aware. I received an email that said my case was being reviewed and I'll hear back from them within roughly 5 business days. I had kept them updated and sent all documents necessary. Did not hear from them. I then emailed them, had no response. I tried calling too but nobody picked up the phone. I tried the reserve space and call back option but have had nothing back. I last contacted them 8th September but had nothing back.

I live in NZ and need to engage a Scottish lawyer after a traffic accident in Glasgow. Having called the law society and various other law firms, Natalie at Thompson Solicitors was the only person that tried to help me. 11out of 10 for customer service and actually caring. Thank you Natalie

From start to finish I had a brilliant experience with Charlotte and was very helpful with any questions throughout the full process would highly recommend Thompsons

A simple case of claiming compensation for a cancelled flight for the three of us. It took Thompsons six weeks to get any response back to us ... and only after reminders - only to tell us that we should claim directly!

Total waste of time.

I have had my claim in since Dec 2023 & since Freyja McVey took over about a month ago I’ve got an amount & should hopefully be paid out within the next 6 weeks, Freyja has kept me informed since taking over my claim and I am so grateful as I felt as before she took over it was dragging on,

I was in a car accident November 2023 and the lady that caused the accident was charged with careless driver on the day as she crossed lane smashed me into a ditch. It took about a year for my medical to get sorted. I am still waiting for a decent offer. I understand the other solicitors are slow. But when liability was all sorted on the day. I feel I should share my experience and I will be doing with the insurance company.

I went to Thomson’s after receiving an injury as a passenger in a traffic collision. I was given sound advice regarding my claim, I had a clear understanding of what was happening and the best way forward to get a decent result. Aside from financial compensation I was given the opportunity to receive some cognitive therapy to help with the mental trauma. I didn’t have to do much more than answer questions and they sorted everything else. I didn’t go through my union, so I didn’t pay a fee but they would be worth it even if you had to pay.

Not good at all. It has been more than a year since we started our "cooperation" with Thompsons Solicitors Scotland.
Absolutely no contact (too lazy to even answer your emails), not much done so far.
Please consider choosing them as they do not really care about your case.

I’m absolutely devastated to learn that after nearly a year the acting agent breached our contracts and closed our case because medical appointments had to be rescheduled several times due to seriousness of the injuries occurred. As a law firm, they are obliged by law to act it their clients best interest and take instructions from them. Unfortunately, what we experienced was nothing more than being subjected to discrimination and negligence in duty of care. We asked for flexibility in arranging medical appointments (either via video conference or home visit) and despite the fact that both of us were immobile due to injuries, they refused and never adapted to our disabilities saying they only would if we lost a limb - that’s probably the most inconsiderate thing we heard after suffering from car accident. The medical appointments are in Glasgow that makes it extremely difficult to attend when you’re immobile and rely on another person to look after you not to mention to take time to take you somewhere miles away for a medical appointment.
Neve Stewart we dealt won’t wasn’t very pleasant and didn’t care we suffered injuries and had to reschedule appointments. Now when we finally managed to find someone to take us miles away for our appointment, she closed out cases without even consulting with medicals that were supposed reschedule our appointments. Nor with us. As they failed to represent our best interest and closed our file, they breached our contract and Rule B1: Standards of Conduct of Law society Scotland.
I’m absolutely disgusted with this inconsiderate and incompetence service.
I followed the good reviews on here but for us it’s a massive disappointment. No care at all.
