I visited the Timpson store at Tescos in Llandudno Junction, North Wales. The gentleman running the store was extremely professional, kind and considerate. He did an excellent job changing the battery in my watch with no issues. I couldn’t have been happier with the service which I received. Thank you!

I wanted to leave a review for Ellis at the Bury St Edmunds store outside Sainsburys. What a genuinely caring and thoughtful member of your staff - he went well over and above to help me out with my Father's birthday gift engraving, so thank you to Ellis and a huge congratulations to Timpson's for their staff, work ethic and culture. We really need more of this in today's world!

Well being in need of a new battery for my watch and the majority of local jewellers now closed down I thought I would go to timpsons who have a unit inside Sainsbury’s in Upton Wirral, and they had the battery I needed. Now this is where I needed to sit down because I was expecting the normal price of between £4- 5 for the battery and not the £24.95 timpsons wanted. I’m sorry but there is no way in this world I would pay that much and I’m sorry that timpsons feel they could get away with overcharging that much for a £4 battery. I was going to also get a key cut but after the attempted ripoff battery price I walked away too scared to even ask. Sorry Timpsons if that’s how greedy you have become then you have now lost a customer and as many others I can forewarn of your prices. The only redeeming point is that I was told the price by the assistant with a straight face. Not impressed at all. (EBay £4.58 buy one get one free). After your reply I can only add to the fact that it didn’t matter if I just wanted to purchase a battery or have you unscrew the back of the watch and drop the battery in for me, rocket science it’s not. the price you were trying to charge is extortionate and done foc in many other places where I will be shopping in future.

I have only used Timpsons a couple of times, once to have my shoes re-soled (Royston High Street) and dry cleaning a suit (Royston at Tesco).

The shoes had to be re-soled again, as they weren't done correctly, although they did this without an additional charge.

The suit was a different story. The trousers came back damaged, and so were sent back for another clean. Unfortunately, this didn't resolve the damage, so they were sent off to the technical team to complete a report. In summary, they concluded the damage wasn't related to the dry cleaning process, and "suggest that the damage has been caused by the effects of localised abrasion from an object worn under the trousers, such as the top of a boot or sock." Rather amusingly, this would have required me to wear knee length socks or knee high boots (under the trousers). There is no way that I caused this damage, and interestingly, they claim we acknowledged this damage when the suit was dropped off for dry cleaning, which isn't accurate (although we did highlight a stain, that was removed).

I would really suggest that you find an alternative for your dry cleaning and shoe repairs.

**Very disappointing experience with Timpson**

I took my gold Rotary watch, worth around £2,000, to Timpson for a battery replacement and to have the bracelet shortened. During the service, the watch was damaged. The clasp was then poorly repaired, and the watch still did not work and had to be sent for repair again.

What is most disappointing is the lack of accountability and transparency. For months, I have been trying to obtain information about exactly what work was carried out on my watch, but I was refused any documentation.

For a £2,000 watch, I expected professionalism, proper workmanship and respect for the customer. Unfortunately, Timpson failed to meet these basic expectations.

Don’t trust these people with your watches! They break them, they then go off to their in house repairs department which then damage it more and then have to be taken to court to recover the money on the said watch! They say in house when documentation shows it was sent else where!

As for Vicky in customer services attitude and compassion to the customer, well alot to be desired! Maybe a little more customer empathy and understanding.

20/08/2026 - Thanks for the response Timpsons. Nobody will be emailing customer care as they don’t care about the customers and have some attitude problems, hence this going to court!

Gentleman was very helpful & polite. Mended my car key for me to take away the same day.

Visited the Timpson at Roneo Corner tesco to see about getting a pendant on a necklace engraved. The gentleman behind the counter was super helpful & polite, as the store was closing in 5 mins he assured me it would be ready first thing, which it was. I wasn't too fussed on font etc i just knew i didnt want it too fancy so you cant read it. He got it spot on! And £15 is an absolute bargain compared to the £40 i was quoted in the shoe menders in town…. Would defo use them again.

I thought all the robbers were in prison but they are not, they are running shops in Witney, offering key cutting services, fitting batteries in watches shoe and lots of other services. l asked Google wher can l get a battery fitted in my watch. I asked the shop assistant if she could replace the battery and she said yes and proceeded to tell £24.99 which l did think was a lot of money for a sekonda watch, but my late wife bought it for me. I walked out the shop walked 10 yards in the opposite way l entered the shop to see a business offering batteries for watches for £5.95 with free fitting, the battery can be sourced for as little as £1.95 l quickly turned round and went back but the assistant had already replaced the battery in 2 minutes so l had to cough up the £24.99, how do they sleep at night ripping off an old age pensioner.

Big thanks to Ian at the Crosby Village, Liverpool store for quickly sorting out a pair of shoes for me when I was in a rush to head off on holiday last week. He added a couple of holes to the straps and was really personable, super helpful and provided fantastic customer service.

I wouldn’t hesitate to use my local Timpson store again, and it’s thanks to team members like Ian who make such a great impression. Thanks, Ian!

£60 for a new watch battery ? Went to another shop, cost £8

Went into Timpsons at Bishop Auckland.
Today, to get an old motorbike key cut.
No chips or remote on it
Oh that will be £30.00.
The server would not even look at me, as he was fully aware of myself being overcharged greatly.
We left and went to a local independent company.
£8.00 sir can do it now.
Please please look around. As this company is being ex torsionate prices.

I went here to have a new car key cut. I met Elliot and he was very helpful. Gave me all the options and was very honest with me. I would recommend going to see him at Monks Cross or Beverley Morrisons, for any key cutting.

Keys worked, but very disappointed with the quality

I needed replacement keys for my Rockdoor front door, as a few of my original keys had eventually bent after many years of use.

I went to Timpson outside Asda in Luton and had 3 replacement keys cut. The keys all worked perfectly in the lock, so I had no issue with the actual cutting. However, I immediately noticed that the replacement keys felt noticeably lighter and thinner than the original Rockdoor keys.

Unfortunately, within just a few weeks, all 3 keys had bent from simply being carried in my pocket. For comparison, my original Rockdoor keys had lasted around 10 years, so I was very disappointed with the quality of the replacements.

I've since discovered that I could order official Rockdoor keys online through WebKeys.co.uk simply by using the code on the original key. They cost me around the same price, arrived within a couple of days and feel considerably more substantial.

Based on my experience, I wouldn't use Timpson again for this particular type of key. The service and cutting itself were fine, but the quality of the key blanks just wasn't good enough considering all three bent within weeks.

The service at our new Timpson in Stow on the Wold was quick and polite but I thought £19.95 charged for a watch battery totally outrageous. Will not be returning.

★☆☆☆☆ Damaged My Watch During a Routine Battery Replacement

I took my quartz field watch, which dates from around 1990 and has significant sentimental value as it belonged to my father, to Timpson on Williamson Road, Finsbury Park, for what should have been a routine battery replacement.

Before leaving the watch, I specifically pointed out that it had a 100m water-resistance rating and that care would be needed with the gasket during reassembly. The employee's response suggested a lack of understanding of the importance of maintaining the watch's water-resistance integrity, which in hindsight should have been a warning sign.

I was told to return in 20 minutes, but when I came back I was informed that the watch hands had somehow "fallen off" during reassembly. I was then asked to return the following day so that the manager could deal with the issue. When I returned, I discovered I was not speaking to the manager as previously indicated, and I was told that the dial was now "uneven" and that the watch would need to be sent away for repair, a process expected to take at least two weeks.

The watch was in excellent working order before Timpson worked on it. After a simple battery change, it was left damaged and requiring specialist repair. The faults described by staff did not exist before the battery replacement and appear to have arisen directly from the work carried out.

This experience raises serious concerns about staff training, competence and quality control. A routine battery replacement should not result in a customer receiving back a damaged watch.

Unfortunately, this experience has completely undermined my confidence in Timpson. I entrusted them with a straightforward job and received back a damaged watch. I cannot recommend this branch based on my experience.

Just wanted to give a big high five to Rich in Ealing for the best service today. Went to pick up my damaged boot as the sole had come away , he checked the work and could see it wasn’t up to scratch so immediately fixed it. Super impressed as I could have walked away with half done job, thank you !
