Honestly the young man i spoke to was very patient with me as I was having trouble with my phone . He was very thoughtful and polite during our conversation, a wonderful employee in my opinion.

This service was absolutely…terrible

This service was absolutely unacceptable from the very beginning. The experience was terrible, completely disorganised, and made worse by absolutely awful customer service. I am extremely dissatisfied and regret using it at all. I will never use this again, and I would strongly warn others to avoid it. It falls far below any reasonable standard of service.

It’s always a pleasure dealing with Tyne Tunnels , their reply’s are always prompt and pleasant . I renew my Blue Badge permit every year , it’s a straight forward procedure , no hassle whatsoever .,

Threatening rip off merchants

Full of mercenaries trying to rip you off. I went through the tunnel and forgot to pay, no problem my mistake. I then receive a letter saying I was sent 2 previous letters (I had received nothing) and demanded £102.50. I contested this using the most useless appeal process ever designed and then got on the phone with someone who told me that a 3rd part debt collection agent would be called. They are clearly out to trap you to drain as much money as possible from you whilst threatening you with 3rd party debt companies. Disgusting

Hi Ben,

We are sorry to hear about your experience. When a charge is created we always send three letters, over 6 weeks, to ensure you are adequately notified of the charge. All letters are monitored to ensure delivery, via the Royal Mail.

Once the 6 weeks have elapsed and the charge payment has not been received, cases will be moved to a third-party collection agency. Appeal will then be managed by the third-party collection agency.

If you would like to discuss this case further, please contact the third-party collection agency, detailed on your letter.

Easy to use account

Ideally this would be be free! However, using their easy online system to load credit. Ensures I don't get caught out by forgetting to pay. Have added my whole families cars!

No compassion or reason

The response to my appeal suggests it was read by someone with no compassion and little grasp on reality. Why would I want an account if this was my only ever use of the tunnel? No explanation to my complaint that a day is too short to expect payment within, when there's no facility to pay later with a small supplement. Straight to a penalty charge! Legal extortion

We are sorry to hear about your experience. When travelling through the Tyne Tunnels, a payment for toll is due midnight the following day. The timeframe for payment is set in the Tyne Tunnel Bylaws, which are governed by Central Government. This timeframe is set to encourage the lowest non-compliance rate possible.
