Thrilled beyong expectations
I can't put it in words how thrilled I am with my new service. Not only am I getting no dropouts on wifi calls (With EE I often had breakups all the time that I had to switch to 5G and even then go outside the house to get a strong enough signel). The ethernet is a lot faster but the most important thing is the router. I ended up with coming over to Vodafone because my area is now 'Full Fibre' No biggy in that but the router that EE provided (same on as BT) knocked out my home network (workgroup) so I could not access my Music, Movies, Phots, gomes and shared files on my PC when my PC was on. EE had 'openreach' out to me twice as I thought it was a network issue and a total of 3 hours at my home and they still were lost. They said it has to be you computer settings. I said 'It can't be, it works fine on the old router, just not on the new router'. EE said if I want to I could hire a network specialist at my own expense to match the new routher with the PC. After 2 hours of messing around he just said 'All you can do is use the new router for the internet and switch back to the old router for the SMB file sharing network. The problem I had there was the Old router did not work with 'Full Fibre Broadband'. In the end EE told me that if I wanted to have my home network I could buy a better router and they would accept that, but a router that supports the SMB protocols started at £250+.
Downhearted at believing I was never going to have a good broadband service AND home network on the same router I accepted that I would have to take my HDD to every room and plug into the USB sockets whenever I wanted it.
As my contract was at the end and the new contract still in it's 'cooling off period' with EE. I decided to pop in to the local Vodafone shop for a chat. The guy seemed to know exactly what I was talking about and said I should 'but no guarentee' be ok and would also save me a whopping £20 a month so I notified EE I was leaving because thier router was not suitable for my needs. On the day of connection to the service with Vodafone (Today). I have got the superfast full fibre broadband AND My home network SMB file sharing is back without any effort at all. They also give me a landline service free for incoming calls. Something that EE would not provide.
I would give Vodafone 10 stars, too good for only 5.
