One small observation; would have appreciated a little more discussion about the final look of the flashings that are not horizontal on the underside. The slope could have been altered to make this possible.

The company doesn’t have a very good after service their workmen tell lies about asbestos gutters bad mouth their surveyors then deny they have said it. The cosmetic finishing is not good we still can see the top of the garage under the facing that supposed to be covered up. We have messaged them frequently and not been helped by them we would recommend anyone thinking of using this company try local companies. We feel let down very badly.

Whole experience with this company worked very smoothly from Matt in sales first visit thru the initial survey and the work itself all to agreed timetable.

Good but not perfect

Despite VSF being by far the most expensive of the 3 quotes I obtained for my asbestos garage roof replacement (no doubt partly explained by the cost of VSF's mailshot leaflets and by their using both a salesman and a surveyor prior to installation) I chose them after reading reviews of the 3 companies on Trustpilot.

After I submitted VSF's online enquiry form their salesman visited just 2 days later and we agreed the details and price followed just over a week later by a visit from their surveyor who did the detailed measure-up. VSF's 2 installers arrived 2 months later on the agreed installation date and it was lucky that I spotted that the roof panels which they had just unloaded from their van were VSF's standard Goose Grey colour and not the Merlin Grey colour I had ordered so they had to pack everything up again and left having had a wasted journey.

Fortunately, I only had to wait just over a week for the next pair of installers to turn up with the correct colour panels. They were a well-practised team and it took them just over 5 hours to complete the job (they thought) and tell me that they had finished. I pointed out that most of the new guttering they had installed on one side of the garage was far too close to the fascia board making it impossible to get fingers in let alone a hand or gutter cleaning tool to remove leaves and I suggested that they remove the brackets and use packing pieces to create more of a gap, which they duly did. I also pointed out that one of the roof panels was missing Dripstop anti-condensation membrane along an entire 20cm strip next to the ridge, which they said was a manufacturing defect and that someone would have to come back with Dripstop membrane and glue this onto the panel. Because of this defect it was agreed (after their call to head office) that I would withhold £100 of the contract balance pending rectification and I then signed the Satisfaction Note with a note added re the missing Dripstop. Unfortunately, the retention amount appears to have been insufficient as the aftersales pack was then issued without the defect being rectified.

The roof panels were screwed onto 4 lengths of timber which extended the entire length of garage next to the steel purlins and were fixed to the steel trusses with screws. During a subsequent detailed inspection I noted that one of the screws had bent over and not gone into the truss and that the same truss had two other fixing screws missing. However, out of the 20 fixing points 17 screws were in place so I do not expect that the 3 missing screws will adversely affect the roof's structural integrity.

Whereas the salesman had shown me a mock-up where the gap filler between the profile sheeting and ridge plate had holes to assist ventilation for the Dripstop, the finished roof's gap filler contained no such holes. A minor point but it would have been better if the ridge ends at the front fascia and 90 degree angle profile on the front of the garage lined up so that the superglued-on white finial joint cover was not off-centre.

It was unfortunate that due to a head office error the first 2 installers turned up with the wrong colour panels. Also, the guttering had to be rectified and some of the screw fixings are missing. Although £100 of the contract balance was withheld pending rectification of the missing Dripstop, the aftersales pack was issued without anything being done about it. Despite VSF's sales literature mentioning both it's own and the manufacturer's guarantee, no formal guarantee documentation has been issued.

However, the old asbestos roof has gone and it's replacement does look good (apart from the offset finial at the front of the garage).

The fitters came round on time and started work immediately. I was surpised at how quickly the job progressed. The old fibre board roof panels (cement/asbestos) were removed and all precautions were observed. The new roof panels were fitted, all trims and so forth done to my satisfaction, new guttering as well. Great job done, very pleased with it.

The construction team were efficient, courteous and respectful. They were well organised and worked diligently.

I am very pleased with the professional service provided by VSF Ltd from start to finish. They completed an overhaul of my garage which involved removal of an asbestos roof & installation of a new roof and garage doors. My particular thanks to Daniel and his colleague who were professional, skilled and very hardworking. Daniel kept me informed of progress throughout the day, ensured that the work was completed to a very high standard and left the site clean and tidy. I am delighted with the work carried out and look forward to using my new garage.

After they had gone I notice a small problem with the side door and phoned up to ask for them to fix it, Carl phoned me back , apologised and was back in a couple of days to do the door adjustment, now perfect.
They are not the cheapest but you get what you lay for and I would highly recommend them.

Explained the process from removing the old asbestos safely,to installing the new roofing,fascia and guttering, On the day of installation the two man team of Danny & Ryan came just before 8am,got the tools out and started straight away,both very polite and tidy,kept us informed of what was happening during the process,before we knew it the new roof was on and they were clearing up and packing the tools away,thanks very much for a job well done,would recommend VSF to friends and family who need a garage makeover,,thanks again.

The lads that came to do the work were amazing. They grafted all day and worked as a team.
They were very polite and professional. They even helped my wife after she had a a fall in the garden. Despite the job in had they expressed concern that she was alright , and that was all day .They worked well and were always happy to explain every aspect of the job being done.

Notice by email marked private and confidential for the four directors to deal with. The company in question have been sending me unsolicited junk mail regarding a garage. The garage is on land next to my property and land owned by one of my neighbours. Much communication with this complete bunch of ————+++ over the years lots of evidence where I’ve asked them to remove my address as I regard this as a complete f nuisance.
No one but no one seems to have common sense and brain cells to deal with the matter in question. They’ve sent me emails to say it’s been dealt with but still the unsolicited junk arrives for something that’s not even mine.
This is to advise that you have until 3/9/26 to deal with the matter in question or the case goes to. Information commissioner office for data misuse (ICO)and advertising standards agency for persistent unsolicited marketing. Let’s hope they take your license.
