Wickes - Alton Avis 

I had a problem with some paint I'd had mixed for me at the store. GUYO was extremely helpful, calling the manager, explaining the issue and then replacing the faulty product. No fuss, just calm, efficient customer service with a warm St Lucian smile. Thank you!

All the staff in the Alton branch were helpful and offered advice and assistance. I now have the extra garden storage I needed and Jon was there to help squeeze it into our rather small car so we could get it home today.

A mystery in terms of their stock range

I learned a long time ago that most staff have very limited knowledge of/interest in stock. I understand that - to a point. But only so many blank looks make sense when it comes to product sales. But I shouldn't blame ignorant staff. One out of 4 took an interest and tried to find out what I was looking for - which is probably about average. A long time ago I bought a Wickes bathroom thumbturn and release and my own ignorance of detail comes into play now. I have fitted a number of mortice locks and a couple of the kits with indicators and external opening when the bolt is on, but, as I said, I have a part set and need, as the packaging says, a bathroom mortice lock - with a smaller diameter spindle and bolt, etc. They still sell a version, have a row of them in the store I went to. They also have a line or two of ordinary locks, etc. Not a sign of the smaller parts I need. The speculation from staff was that they would only aim to meet the needs of people who simply wanted to change the visible parts. And why on earth would the people at Wickes responsible for stock think that was a good thing? Not that we know. I can't rule anything out, but is it competent to offer a part and not the component that gives it any point unless there is an existing installation and someone changes that for random reasons. Wickes make no sense to me. They have some very good products and sometimes decent pricing, but they don't seem to be serious at times like this. It WAS NOT the Alton Way branch, that was generated by the input process and I didn't correct it as I probably should have in hindsight. Maybe they randomly do have the

Wickes have reached out to me to tell me that the stock is available - but not yet where. In the mean time I have bought a mortice lock from Toolstation - but I do need to get a spindle as they don't sell them apparently

I had a few nightmare DIY projects that needed to be completed over New Year's. Jon was incredibly helpful in recommending what I needed to do and arranged a very speedy delivery service when I realised one of my purchases wouldn't fit in my car!

Went into Alton store for some supplies meet Guyo, wow, what a friendly happy chap! Lovely smile and such a welcoming person. Showed me the way to a few items and even took the time to set me up a trade card which I have been meaning to do. Thank you so much. A welcoming smile and friendly approach really did make my day. Wonderfully helpful and friendly staff - especially Guyo who carried everything to the car for me.

We are renovating our first home and are regular customers now! Guyo was particularly helpful during our last visit, helping me set up and account and pointing me in the direction of everything I needed. See you again soon!

Staff are generally really helpful and although it's a smaller store they usually have what I need. Guyo is particularly friendly and goes out of his way to help you find things.

Full marks to Guyo in the Alton Wickes this morning who saw me and sensed i needed some help and guided me over to the correct aisle. He was friendly and helpful and again he was at the checkout and was engaging and made my day with his positive attitude.

We were in store for a bulk purchase of gravel bags and we were able to get everything we needed. We were assisted by Guyo who was extremely helpful and went out of his way to make sure we had everything, he even helped load it onto our van!
