Hi, I’m Tom — the founder of Xoticbugs and a lifelong invertebrate enthusiast. Invertebrates are some of the most diverse and fascinating animals on the planet, and Xoticbugs was created as a way to share that passion while helping others discover the enjoyment of keeping them. Xoticbugs primarily offers captive-bred isopods and leaf insects, with occasional availability of stick insects, other invertebrates, and selected dry goods. Stock is released periodically throughout the year and consists mainly of surplus specimens from my own private collection, giving others the opportunity to care for and enjoy these incredible animals. Alongside this, the site features detailed care sheets and articles to support responsible and informed keeping. All invertebrates sold through Xoticbugs are captive-bred in the UK and are guaranteed to be healthy, well-established, and feeding prior to sale. If a wild-caught specimen is ever offered, this will always be clearly stated in the product listing. Care, transparency, and animal welfare are central to everything I do. My background is in Biological Sciences, with a particular interest in genetics, and I now focus my collection on rare and personally fascinating species. I purchased some leaf insects from Tom and I couldn’t recommend purchasing from him enough! I am new to leaf insects and he was very informative and answered any questions I had. He helped me ensure I had the right enclosure set up and let me know what species was best for me. I received them today and put them in their new home, they were packaged well and I even got an extra friend! A big thank you to Tom, I’m very happy with my new leaf insect friends!

Communication was fantastic and very helpful.
The insects we received were healthy and are still doing great! This company is caring for their animals and will make sure they are delivered appropriately (temperature and weather dependent) to make sure they get the best start in their new home. Very positive experience. I ordered 3 Phyllium letiranti nymphs from their advert of Pets 4 Homes, and Tom was a extremely helpful in outlining the logistics of delivery, and providing information regarding how they would be packed. When the package arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see that not only was there a 4th leaf insect included, but also some eggs! Tom has gone above an beyond to make my experience of buying the insects positive, and I would encourage anyone thinking of getting insects to check out their website.

Comms are always bang on. Quick replies, straight answers, no fluff. But more than that it never feels transactional. It feels like chatting to someone who actually enjoys the hobby and wants you to do well with what you’re keeping.
He’s helped me out loads with advice over time. Temps, species thoughts, general chat about pods. It’s probably the closest thing to friendship you’ll get from a business in this hobby. Proper supportive, no ego, just good vibes.
Stock quality has always been spot on. Healthy, clean, well established cultures. My Yellow Ghost and Haasi High Yellow from him are still two of my favourites in the room. Strong, bright, and just consistently doing well.
If you want good pods and someone who actually backs what they sell, Tom’s a safe pair of hands.
