The quality of the uni I ordered was wonderful and at the same level as the nicest sushi restaurants that I have been to. Shipping was also seemless, even over the holidays and during a snowstorm.

The scallops are spot on sweet and…
The scallops are spot on sweet and yummy as they should be. The gift they gave in a separate bag had an odor that made you not want to eat it or thaw it, even though it came solid frozen. The odor is as a chef, I reject. The sushimi salmon came loose and ice crystals were building. We will see once I thaw.

Good Service
I ordered ootoro hagashi tuna and Santa Barabara uni. Customer service was excellent in assisting me edit my order due to indecision on my part. I mostly enjoyed the tuna, although there was some residual sinew. It was still delicious, but my understanding is that hagashi should be free of sinew. I am a bit skeptical, especially for the price I paid. Shipping was on time and packaging was of the tuna was very thorough in dry ice. However my uni did arrive frozen as well.

We have been making sushi at home every Christmas Eve since 1995. This was our first time ordering fish from Yama. Fish was delivered on time. On Christmas Eve, everyone loved all of the fish we ordered. Will definitely purchase from Yama again.

Quality and convenience
Packaging and shipping were perfect. Fish arrived still fully frozen, no issues. Excellent cuts, fantastic quality. We did a salmon sashimi tasting, comparing the loch duart and the ora king with both the belly and side cuts. Loch duart belly turned out to be our favorite but they were all great. The ora king has finer muscle striations giving it a more luxurious texture, but it has a more delicate flavor and we liked the stronger flavor of the loch duart. The loch duart side cut was the firmest and strongest flavored, followed by loch duart belly, then ora king belly, then ora king side. But that is just our experience from one piece of each so I don't know if that would always be the case. We will be ordering from Yama regularly.
