I have been dealing with a freelancer through Upwork on a project of developing a WordPress website.
The contract was very clear and yet he decided to move away from the contract conditions and do his own thing. What a terrible experience to deal with this company.

Don't be fooled by their fancy website etc. its smoke and mirrors.

I have recently had a security company check the entire site and they sent me the following:

Dear Sir,

The issue of unwanted/harmful text appearing on your website's homepage has been successfully identified and resolved.

Root Cause:
A malicious file named api.php was found inside the custom-elementor-widgets plugin (a custom plugin installed by the developer under the name zactra).

This file acted as a backdoor, allowing unauthorized access to your website. The previous developer intentionally used this backdoor to modify your website's content.

What We Have Done:

The entire custom-elementor-widgets plugin has been deactivated and removed.

The api.php file is attached as evidence.

A full security scan of your website has been completed – no other malware found.

Action Required from You:
Please do not use this plugin ever again. For any future custom plugin installation, have it reviewed by me first.

Your website is now fully secure.
