Excellent all round service

Good experience

Good APP, a lot of fine wines at appropriate prices. What is interesting for me is to have a choice of wines from all the world. Shipping perfect.

Dont use this company you will be out of pocket

Absolutely astounded that when delivery is not made due to UPS damage in transit they will not resend the original full order. They don't even refund customers the postage even when its UPS who failed. They try to establish the damage then send you the remainder of the goods and ask that you assess it and report back with photos, all the while holding back your funds. Would NEVER recommend them. Very bad experience. Not a good way to treat customers and too slow to resolve. Who wants a part damaged/missing order?

⭐ 1 star – only because giving 0 stars is not an option.

I had one of the worst online shopping experiences with this company and I do NOT recommend 8Wines to anyone.
On 13.01.2026, I ordered 7 bottles of champagne from their website. Because this order was for a time-sensitive private event, I paid an extra €60 for express delivery (2-day delivery).
Here is what actually happened:
❌ I received completely different champagne, clearly cheaper than what I had ordered
❌ The order was incorrect from start to finish
❌ After contacting customer support, I was told the issue would be “resolved”
❌ They arranged a courier to collect the wrongly delivered bottles
❌ The correct champagne has still not been delivered
❌ No refund has been issued for the price difference
❌ No refund for the express delivery, which completely failed
The final result? 👉 I had no champagne for my event
👉 I lost money, time, and patience
👉 I received only vague promises and no real solution
It is unacceptable for a company presenting itself as “premium” to:
send the wrong products
charge for express delivery and fail to provide it
collect the incorrect items
and then neither deliver the correct order nor refund the customer
Customer communication is slow, unclear, and unprofessional. Once they take your money, customer care seems to disappear entirely.
⚠️ Honest warning: If you need wine or champagne for an important occasion, avoid 8Wines. You risk ending up without your order and with your money tied up for weeks.
Extremely frustrating and disappointing experience.
⭐ 1 star – only because giving 0 stars is not an option.

Cork - disappointing solution

As experienced wine drinkers, one of us holding a WSET Level 3 qualification, we feel it is important to share this experience.

We purchased a bottle priced at €80, sealed with natural cork. Upon opening, the wine was clearly faulty due to cork taint. The bottle had been stored correctly, and we immediately notified the seller by email, keeping the bottle available for inspection.

We were informed that because more than 14 days had passed since the purchase, no claim could be submitted to the winery. This explanation seems difficult to believe. Cork taint is a well-known inherent risk of natural cork, and at this price level one would expect this to be covered through the seller’s own responsibility or insurance rather than being dependent on a short purchase window.

As a “solution”, we were offered a €15 credit toward a future purchase. Considering the original bottle cost €80 and was undrinkable, this feels disproportionate and places the financial risk of a faulty product largely on the customer.

At this price level, we expected a very different level of service.

Quoting misleading shipping costs on their website

Each webpage for a specific wine quotes and states the following shipping costs to Portugal:

UPS Standard
2 bottles - € 14.85 (€ 7.42 / bottle)
6 bottles - € 16.61 (€ 2.77 / bottle)
12 bottles - € 19.21 (€ 1.60 / bottle)

(The above is what I found for my country of residence, yours will obviously be different once you introduce your postcode. Your postcode however will determine your exact location for shipping, therefore "estimates" ought not to be called for anymore, as will be explained further on.)

So I went ahead and placed two bottles into my basket, under the assumption that I will be paying 14.85Euros (which by the way, are stiff shipping costs); however, since I still had some reward points left in the value of 8.50Euros, I figured it would balance out the high costs for shipping.

During checkout for two bottles of wine, the shipping costs suddenly jumped for the same destination and postcode ... to 16.80Euros.

Resulting in 4.12Euros of a discrepancy?!
Why?

I did not proceed with the order and contacted customer service.
Here is their reply:

"The shipping prices shown in the table on our website are average rates for each country. As stated, the exact shipping cost is calculated at checkout—just as it was in your case—based on your specific location.
All shipping prices are calculated directly from the UPS shipping price list; we do not set or modify these rates ourselves.
If anything remains unclear or if you have any further questions, please feel free to let me know."

Since after introducing one's postcode no more estimates are permitted to my mind for a specific location when purchasing two bottles only, I let them know that I consider their "estimates" misleading if not dishonest, while also a waste of time for any consumer and informed them that they can delete my customer account.

I have been a customer with other online retailers for years, both in Spain and France, where two large retailers do not "estimate" shipping costs or present apologies for misleading information.

Consequently, I highly recommend to anyone interested in wine to pay premium prices for the wine itself through online retailers with fair and most importantly correct shipping costs; for after all, it is about the wine and not about enriching the intermediary who can't get their shipping costs sorted.

Experience Ruined by UPS delivery

Ruined by UPS delivery which being too busy passes it on to subcontractors. 8wines customer service rep suggested to use next day delivery for better service but the cost per bottle renders the price non-competitive. Pity

Terrible shipping from Prague

At no time did I see anything about the fact that this company ships from Prague. I purchased six bottles as a birthday present expecting delivery in days as it was via UPS….. but the wines did not arrive for 2 weeks missing the birthday.
UPS is completely disorganised in the UK. They gave me tracking info and informed me that they would deliver at specific times each day for 7 days but never turned up. After 2 long phone calls (because their automated system is appalling and longwinded) they then delivered the wines to the wrong address. Finally the wines were found and delivered.
I suggest that unless 8wines sort out their carrier you do not buy wines from them. Others in their reviews have found the same. It’s a lottery so I would avoid.

Ordered 30 bottles. Shipping was meant to take up to a week. Took over 4 weeks to arrive. 5 bottles broken. Was refunded for the missing bottles but all in all not a great experience

Terrible service

Terrible service. Ordered and paid some bottles, they reverted to me saying it’s a pricing mistake, I can have my money back (thank you for the favour, 8wines, wow), order cancelled, full stop, no real apologies. Bad taste in your mouth - and actually it’s not a cork fault, but a poorly run business

Misleading Tracking

I placed an order for a bottle of wine on 10 September 2025, to be shipped to the UK. On 23 September, I requested to cancel the order and asked for a refund due to delays.
However, the shop’s system shows the parcel as “Delivered”, even though I have not received anything. Meanwhile, UPS tracking still shows the parcel as “On the Way”, with no indication that it has been returned to the seller’s warehouse.
Despite my cancellation and refund request on 23 September, I’m still waiting for a refund as of 29 September. The shop claims the wine will be refunded once it’s returned to their warehouse, but UPS still shows no return progress.
Their response continues to cite their Terms of Service and EU law, stating they have up to 30 days to complete the refund. While that may be technically correct, the lack of transparency and conflicting tracking information is frustrating and unacceptable.
I hope this gets resolved soon, but I would caution others to be aware of the potential delays and communication issues.

As a follow-up to my previous review:
- The wine was refused upon delivery on 9 October 2025
- UPS tracking showed it was returned to sender on 14 October 2025
- I finally received the full refund on 21 October 2025

Don't waste your time…

the website search is the worst I have ever seen. The website keeps crashing. If you let them know you are having problems they ust write back and say it will all be OK one day ... and something about AI search coming. The truth is they have zero interest in customers.

Comprehensive and precise customer service

Transport by UPS is very bad. We have a trouble with 5 bottles. 8wines has opened an incident ticket. I give some precises pictures and they refund defect bottles as fast as possible (9 days after reception). Very good customer service.
