absolute bs one question brought me down 60% (i was alrdy at 100%) they made me answer another 10 questions before i could start going up totally dont reccomend affiecient math. the only thing its teaching me is to resent it

My kids started using Afficient in Jan this year and have made noticeable progress since then. I especially want to express my gratitude to my advisor Jane. From the very beginning, she has been very responsible, professional, and patient--not only explaining the structure of the entire program but giving reliable advice based on my kids' assessment and learning pace. She is always available whenver we have questions, which give us, as parents, great peace of mind and no worries. Highly recommended for Jane!

The Affcient course has proven to be an excellent tool for children's learning journey. What impresses me most is its intelligent design that effectively helps kids build a solid foundational knowledge while also encouraging them to preview lessons ahead of time. Unlike traditional learning methods that sometimes feel forced, this course makes the learning process so engaging that children not only learn with ease but also take the initiative to study on their own—something I’ve struggled to see with other resources.

As a 12 year old kid, this website was great for learning math... until i wasn't. My experience was great, at least for grades 4-8, which compared to later grades were a breeze.
First, as many others have said, the scoring system is overly punishing and the so called "demos" barely explain anything.
Second, the system is a buggy, glitchy, mess. Never in my life have I gotten more frustrated then when I got a question wrong, even though, according to the help button, it is correct! The timer on timed questions can also just not work and freeze at 0 seconds.
Third, the questions are repetitive, and they loop after a certain amount of questions. Now this might not seem too bad, but it actually allows you to cheat. How? Well, all you have to do is open two tabs of this website on your browser of choice, go to the same skill, have one of the tabs be on the TO BE LEARNED version of the skill, and refresh this tab until both tabs are on the same question. From there, use the help button on the TO BE LEARNED version of the skill, which will not affect your points or your score, and will give you the answer!
There are multiple different variations of this but they are only possible because Afficient messed up badly, and I'm not sure whether they refuse to fix it or are just unaware. This is the only thing making my progress somewhat possible, which should say something about how poorly the whole system is designed.
Last, the different modes.
TO BE LEARNED is either quite easy or damn near impossible without cheating. The "demos" mostly suck but some actually do their job and explain the concept. Overall not good, but the best out of all three.
Proficiency is just bad. There's not much to say here, but the timed Level 3 versions of each skill either give too little or too much time. The 2 review questions at the start of each set of questions might seem like a good idea, but in reality are pointless and annoying. People can review on their own, they can make their own decisions. They should not be forced to review.
Now onto the worst one, Afficiency.
This is the thing most reviewers seem to hate, and honestly, I agree. The scoring system before was punishing, but this is absolutely brutal. A single minuscule error can set you back by over 30 minutes, and you're lucky if you get more than 0.01 or 0.02 score on a correct answer. The timer freeze glitch also happens here.
A bit of advice for parents looking to improve their kid's math skills: use anything else. IXL, Khan Academy, hell, even KUMON is better then this absolute shithole of a website.
All in all, Afficient is a good idea, but it is executed horribly.

My kid likes Afficient very much. It gives him the freedom to learn at his pace, which is way ahead his grade. He has gained lots of confidence from being advanced on the subjects. The system is well designed to make sure kids to master each skills, and the supervised sessions and office hours are always there to provide support. Parents worry-free!

My son joined English program 3 years ago to improve his reading comprehension skill. I can see he is doing better and better with afficient teaching and training. I no longer need to find extra work sheets and check answers for him. My daughter has been using Afficient for both English and Math since last year. It's a great software that really helped her self-learning. It rewards kids with tokens when they finished their weekly task and the tokens can be redeemed into gifts or Amazon gift cards. It's a big motivation to my daughter:). She did not want to stop finishing the weekly task even when we went on vacations. I felt so proud of her. And I can tell the big progress that she has made on both subjects. Afficienta has been a fantastic solution for our searching supplementary material for my daughter’s math’s learning experience since our district shifted away from assigning homework. It helps boosting her confidence whenever comes to math instead of calling out randomly. She thinks before she responds to questions. Or I would say she becomes more self sufficient in math, taking initiative to study math outside of the tutor time which is a mile stone for her learning journal. I have been using the Afficient website to learn English for the past year. Two years ago, my daughter transferred to a school in Dubai in Year 4, but her English was far behind and she couldn't understand the large amount of English spoken in class. In a state of anxiety, a friend recommended this website. After taking a test on the website, it was found that she was only at the Year 2 level, with a very low vocabulary and few grammar skills.
This website first introduces knowledge points and then provides exercises. If the accuracy rate is not reached, the questions will be repeated until they are fully mastered. This method is better than doing written exercise books. If you buy exercise books, the number of questions for each knowledge point is limited. But on the website, you can repeat the exercises.
Fortunately, my daughter has made great progress.
