Scotland was a lifelong hoped for trip for me
I went to Italy last October with AHI and loved it but I also think I was a bit spoiled in that our accommodations were a bit better. I understand why we ended up where we did. Judy explained that the place you had been using had gone downhill and that this was the first time for this hotel. The biggest complaint I would have is that it was just not convenient to get anyplace. Now, the people at the hotel were great, the food was good although the continental breakfast left a lot to be desired (again, the hotel in Stressa spoiled me). But once again, the tours were well planned and very informative. Alistair made for a wonderful tour guide. He had a lot of information about the history of Scotland and he also had a great sense of humor. Bus driver Graeme had a lot to add about local flavor as well. Overall I was very pleased with just a few quibbles. I would go to the Scottish Highlands next summer but the trip is over the 4th of July and I want to be home for that holiday.

We enjoyed our travel director and our tour guide. Most days were well planned and very enjoyable.
However, the hotel that was chosen in Dunblane was older and going through a renovation. The room we were given was very small, quite worn and dirty looking. We had to pay for an upgraded room in the wing of the hotel that was still going through renovations which we could hear during the day.
Our last day was a "free day" which didnt make any sense at all because it was a Sunday in the small town of Dunblane and most everything was closed. That was very disappointing and seemed like a wasted day.

More information should be offered on each day's agenda.
The hotel location in St. Moritz was ridiculous. Every night when the bars closed, had to hear all of the drunk conversations and singing right in front of the hotel from about midnight to 4 am.
Stresa's hotel was lovely, but didn't come to Italy to lay by a pool. We should of been staying in Milan which would offered so much more to do and see.
We had to make our own reservations to see the last supper; don't list something like that on an itinerary unless you can deliver!!!

River Cruise was canceled
Our River Cruise was canceled 2 days before we were due to travel. We had to reorganize our trip so that we could go with the airfare we had already. It was inconvenient. On the other hand ahi refunded our money promptly thank you

Kudos for refund
AHI were very eager and anxious to provide attentive service to their customers. This was probably appreciated by novice tourists, but for seasoned travelers it was more than was needed (eg., “helicopter parent with a young child”).
However, AHI deserves kudos for their handling of our cancelled cruise. They followed through on their option to provide a full refund without a hassle. That was commendable. Thank you.

Not at All as Hoped For
The brochure said I'd need to be able to walk on cobblestones, need to be able to embark/disembark from a bus. It did not say that there'd be EXTENSIVE slanting walks on pea gravel or that one day when I could not take a taxi to keep up with the group,I'd be subjected to the Bataan Death March. I ended up skipping 2+ days of the tour and hanging out on my own.
The menu given for the Tivoli Garden dinner was - for me - a bust: white asparagus season was past (as you should've checked out) and for that teensy squab to have died for me to have 3 Tbl of meat and 2 Tbl of stuffing was a crime; and the restaurant was next to the outside bandstand, which made conversation impossible one their noise began. The waitresses must've had to pay for bread and butter from their own pockets, as we practically had to beg for bread and butter. Forget that place!
What happened on two previous AHI trips happenened again: people in pairs or couples made NO effort to get to know me, which resulted in my spending much solo time getting to know the locals, which was very rewarding.
The trip highlight for me was the trip to Aeroskobing, where the visits to the brewery, which gave us the best meal of the trip, and to the soap factory, were wonderful. I liked the island so much that Iwouldn't mind living there, if I could tackle the language. Our dinner there at the hotel of free-range chicken was terrific.
Our bus driver was lousy, alternately hitting the gas- and brake-pedals, and not being able to execute smooth turning. He slammed into gear Once, before I was seated, he slammed into gear, resulting in a hard whack to my knee, which took days to calm down. Also, he was so weird about our using the toilet on the bus - we didn't know it was there until the last 2 days - that I ended up someplace peeing under a tree.

AH-mazing experience (if you can stay out of the Tuscan sun)
Overall, I absolutely LOVED the experience. Our country manager was wonderful as were all the guest lecturers. Meals were great and I much appreciated all the help getting around the city (though several in our group were, unfortunately, robbed on the tram). The only reason I didn't give the full five stars is that, as far as I can tell, there is absolutely no reason to be in Florence in July. I would do this type of trip in pretty much any other city, I loved the whole immersion aspect.

Well Organized
Symona made the entire trip truly worthwhile. She was personable, knowledgeable, thorough, caring, and engaging, making everyone in the group feel welcome and well cared for throughout the journey.
Her selection of local experts greatly enriched the experience. They were informative, passionate about sharing their knowledge, and, for the most part, wonderfully entertaining. It was evident that a great deal of thought and care had gone into planning each tour and activity.
What impressed me most was Symona's flexibility and commitment to the group's enjoyment. She skillfully adjusted the original itinerary when necessary to accommodate more convenient and enjoyable times for our visits, ensuring we made the most of every experience.

By far, our travel director, Valeria, was the cherry on top! The trip as a whole was wonderful, but Valeria made it extra special because she was so kind, knowledgeable, helpful and just fun to be with. Truly wonderful experience for my first time to Europe! Will definitely use AHI again and again!
