No One Home at Alto Music?

I recently needed a guitar pedal that was back ordered with another retailer. Alto Music had one in stock and I received this product in good time. I then found and ordered a hard guitar case that I couldn't find elsewhere. I have since realized a gig bag is more practical for my current needs. It just so happens this product is also on back order. I have emailed Alto Music twice in the last few weeks hoping to cancel the order to prevent the trouble of them shipping and me then returning the product. I have received no response. Neither their Help email address or their Support email address functions. Are these fake email addresses or is no one home at Alto Music?

Finally a fair price for a 500 series blank plate.

I'm an occasional customer with Alto Music. I recently ordered 2 Midas 500 series rack blank covers, they are great quality and sensibly priced unlike other manufactures ridiculous prices, ($20+ and up for a blank plate!!). My only gripe, (not Alto Music's fault) is the big ugly sticker on the Front of each plate that leaves a big patch of glue residue! Midas, take note...

Great store!

I've never been a regular customer of Alto, but I have been going here for at least 20 years for guitar stuff. I have never had a bad experience in the store. Helpful staff, reasonable prices, great selection. Highly recommended.

I am a very busy drummer.

I am a very busy drummer. Im in Alto music in Middletown at least once a month for the past 6 years. Its very simple: I have a need or want that needs to be fulfilled at the best possible price. Im either getting necessities, browsing for a new cymbal, repairs, or even just questions. BUT I am fully dependant on Dan, their drum tech. He knows EVERYTHING. I have walked in there needing immediate help (on gig nights), and walked out 10 minutes later with my problem solved. Hes a wizard! And I am very grateful for his expertise. Actually theyre all great in there. Alto has a personal touch to their business that the big chains just don't have. Its the only place im going!!

Telling bold faced lies to make a sale. Bad move Alto.

Found an api 500 series module on ebay being sold by Alto. When I called and asked to buy it minus the ebay seller fee he said no. Wen I asked why, he gave me a bunch of BS reasons. His first reason is

1. The "used" condition is wrong, its new, which is total BS. He first said it's a "business tactic" they employ then backpedalled and said it was a mistake.

2. They get a lower seller fee than regular people. This is 100% false. eBay doesn't give any commercial or large business discount on final selling fee. He lied to try and make a bigger sale so I walked.

3. He said the price was entered on the site wrong and it should already be $300 higher. He literally made that up to try to convince me to pay more.

I don't mind an honest conversation to make a deal but to lie and try to falsify the facts to swindle the customer is the reason I'll never shop here ever again. I own a 2500 square foot commercial studio in NYC and will take all our business elsewhere and tell all my colleagues to do the same if they want to treat customers like this.

I wish I had read these reviews ahead of time. Stay very far away. Incompetent customer service, impossible shipping policies that don’t protect anyone, an overall terrible experience. Plenty of other reliable companies to give your money to.

Got exactly what I wanted!

I see there are a lot of negative reviews. I didn't know anything about this company until I started searching for a drum kit. I found what I wanted and it was less expensive than at other sites. It made me a little uneasy so I started researching the company and got scared away. But, I really wanted the drum kit. It was the Labor Day holiday and they were offering a 15% discount. I used Amazon pay and even applied another $52 of Amazon points to my purchase. I figured if I got scammed, I would be able to settle it via my credit card account and Amazon Pay. The kit came four days later and was exactly as described. No complaints from me.

Listing products just to cancel your order

I ordered a Native Instrument DJ Controller S4 MK3 from them for $999. A few days after accepting the order they informed me that the controller was no longer being produced by the manufacturer and asked if I wanted a refund or preferred to buy a different product of similar value. I responded that I would opt for a different product but suggested a possible small discount. Their response? They said they issued a refund as they did not have a similar unit by Tractor ???? This is not the way to do business, I would never use them again or recommend them.

Another 5 star review for Alto and Rik Mercaldi!

Here I go again with a 5 star review on Alto music. Got a Boss Katana 50 gen 3 amp. Once again, I went with direct contact to Rik Mercaldi and he got me a great price and free shipping. I don't know why the other reviews are low at times on Alto but I suggest dealing directly with Rik if you want 5 star service.

Alto music (fake alto not the real one)

I was looking online at a particular guitar and found one going cheap through this Alto music link ( Australia/German ) address Kessel Franzgraben ( Frans graben my money ) it wasn’t beyond some discounted prices, although cheap. I paid via PayPal, together with acting fast, I’m hopeful in getting my money back as it’s definitely a scam, they even sent a confirmation email, linked to a g mail account, when you call and email the store on the site it becomes clear…
If I had only read the other review on this page I would’ve known before sending money, now I’m a trust pilot subscriber 🥴

BEWARE Fake Website DO NOT TRUST

THIS IS NOT A REVIEW FOR THE REAL ALTOMUSIC.COM, I HAVE NEVER USED THEIR WEBSITE OR PURCHASED ANYTHING FROM THEM.

Beware of a fake website masking itself as AltoMusic. This website uses altomusicshop.myshopify as their URL.

Everything is 70% off, it's all too good to be true. Emailing the contact email will bring back a 'could not deliver' automatic response from your email provider. The address is suspicious as it's half in Germany, half in the UK. And a short paragraph on the website mentions 'Bibikes', which after some googling shows that the scammer was using the name Bibikes as a fake bike selling website about 2 months ago.

Do not fall for this scam.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST ONLINE MUSIC PURCHASING EXPERIENCE I have ever had.

WARNING………….

they are very sneaky and unethical when it comes to shipping practices. Without telling you, they will deny you the ability as the recipient of a package to contact the shipping company with “signed only packages” leaving you with no ability to contact customer service for shipping. Alto’s staff are very rude and incompetent when contacting them for shipping information .

When I called to explain that my package wasn’t being delivered and that I needed it to be held at an FEDEX facility, this mentally unstable woman working started yelling at me and gaslighting me for trying to request my package to be held.

If you are ever shopping REVERB.COM, avoid Alto Music like the plaque. The most rude and incompetent customer service I have ever dealt with.

Ordered guitar from Rik Mercaldi on line.

Ordered a guitar on line from Rik Mercaldi, excellant customer service. Timely arrival of guitar. Had a slight problem with guitar which really could have been anyone's fault but Rik took responsiblity and gave me probably 5 options to fix the issue. He resonded in less then 12 hours and we are in the process of fixing small issue. Rik cares about his cutomers and it shows.

I bought an expensive piece of musical equipment for over $4500 from them. The item never arrived and they have not cooperated in refunding me. They are difficult to reach and have not been helpful in any way.

Don't use this company

Don't use this company, they won't stand behind defective products. I ordered a keyboard controller and only a month in it quit working and they refused to help me out with a replacement and I even said that I would pay more to upgrade to a nicer one. I will NEVER buy anything from them again! Terrible company to try to trust. My controller was under a hundred bucks and I can see why if I were to order something in the thousands, why I wouldn't dare order from Alto. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else like Sweet Water to purchase. They stand behind there sales where Alto will NOT!
