Completely screwed by AmeriGas
We just got completely screwed on a propane delivery in Bloomingdale, GA from AMERIGAS
Amerigas charged us $4.55 per gallon for propane in Bloomingdale to the tune of $574 for just 126 gallons.
The current going rate in the Savannah area is around $3.15/gallon with the cost of diesel; $2.95 per gallon.
They overcharged us by roughly $170 on one tank.
It took them 2 weeks to show up, and they wanted to charge for a leak inspection. You can't inspect if the tank is 25% full. Ridiculous price!
Complete rip-off. Stay away from Amerigas in Bloomingdale. They will take advantage of you.
Horrible Service...in EVERYWAY
Horrible Service...in EVERYWAY! VERY EXPENSIVE, much more than local.... Plus even after 32 years with them (Auto Deliver, AUTO PAY) I ran out during the Cold Feb 2026 Snow and they told me they couldnt deliver for 10 days. I had paid my rental in Nov 30, 2025. I thought I was still good without the need of gas... but THEY LET ME DOWN! I live alone and am a senior... with now family in OK and this is how Amerigas treated a 32 year customer. NOW, they have sent me a Late Charge on a Tank Removal charge I was never informed of!!!! $389.14.
Also... there is no Customer SERVICE.... wait an hour or longer... maybe you will chat with something.... NO REAL CUSTOMER SUPPORT at alll
IMPOSSIBLE to speak to someone
In February I emailed Amerigas. Never heard back. Last Friday I called and waited 35 minutes to speak with a representative and ended up hanging up. Today I waited 45 minutes and ended up hanging up. I then logged into my account to do a chat and to no avail, waited 32 minutes while Amelia (chat bot) was "connecting me to an agent..." - to which I was never connected to. It is horrendous the "service" they do not provide. As soon as I get my issue resolved I will have them come and pick up their tank for a gazillion dollars and then take my business elsewhere. Should be ashamed of themselves!
Run around to a 94 year old widow
They have been giving my 94 year old mother the run around for months. She needed a new tank and then have it filled. Took months. They would schedule but then not show up. We were told she had a credit balance but then added a bunch of fees for service they didn't do and now claim the account is past due. Their "customer service advocates" only advocate for the company. They are not authorized to adjust anything, then when they say they are transferring you to someone who can it goes to the phone tree. They have not responded to my complaint. Apparently the CEO is a turnaround specialist, but so far nothing seems to have turned around.
Basically it is a useless company.
This is a world class horrible company
This is a world class horrible company for customer service.
Your house could blow up way before they answer a telephone.
They never return phone calls; all they do is frustrate you with telephone wait times of close to an hour only to tell you it’s another department and their lines are busy.
Don’t do business with them!
Billing me for a tank I'm not renting from them
15 years ago I purchased a propane tank I had been renting from Amerigas. Then, a few year later, they started billing me again. I called and proved that I had purchased the tank and they removed the bill. But then started billing me again and now refuse to remove the bill. And their customer service is almost impossible to talk to. I'll never use this company again.
Amerigas is the WORST!
Amerigas is the WORST propane company I have ever dealt with. The service is terrible, their propane tank rental fees are outrageous, their customer service is the poorest I’ve ever seen. Be prepared to wait on hold for 30 minutes minimum. If Amerigas was the last propane company in my area, I would swap my whole house over to electric so I wouldn’t have to deal with them. I’m closing my account and now they’re charging me $453 to pickup the propane tank. There was 10% propane left in the tank that I’m not getting credit for. This company sucks. Find another propane company….anyone is better than Amerigas!
Excessive fees and terrible Customer Service
I had to pay a fee for Amerigas to deliver my tank about 2.5 years ago. I have sold the home and need the tank to be removed. Now they want to charge me $299 to remove the tank and another $149.99 for early termination of the "3 year contract". I HAVE SOLD THE HOUSE!!! I no longer need their service. And they are going to take their sweet time completing the removal request. "It may take up to 2 weeks". Not sure what is going to happen when the new owners bring in a new tan and the Amerigas tank is in the way. Not to mention that every time I have tried to call and get customer service, I have to wait FOREVER for them to answer. Waiting over 40 minutes for a person to answer is just typical for them. They promised me that they would install a remote tank monitor when they installed it and never did. Their website also sucks. I called in over 6 times trying the get them to fix the website because after over 4 refills, the site still showed that I never completed the original tank fill after having the tank delivered. Terrible!!
If I could give fewer stars I would
If I could give fewer stars I would. I’m trying to get an old tank removed from my yard but the only way to talk to an actual human is to pretend like you’re a new customer. Then they transfer you and put you on hold forever. Too bad there’s nobody to answer the phones. I just want this tank gone, not a runaround.
Amaragas is a shady company avoid at all cost!
Amaragas is a shady company! I would not ever use them again. They price gouge there customers, have tons of hidden fees to include if uou cancel your account they will charge you over 420$ to come take there tank away! So you will be screwed ether way. And there Customer service is non existent.

I had to wait 2 hours on the phone for someone to pick up. The message just kept saying wait times are high.
You can never speak with a customer…
You can never speak with a customer service rep. The monitoring system they charge you to place on your tank does not read properly. I switched out service and had installation the next day. Amerigas will not respond to any of my emails to pick up their tank. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.
Horrendous
Describe Amerigas: Incompetent. Dreadful customer service. Lacking courtesy. Inept. Improper communication. Ignorant. Uncaring. Discourteous. Bought our home in October 2021--selected Amerigas as our propane provider w/automatic delivery. We experienced several issues with running out of propane (!) despite being on auto delivery, and a lingering smell of propane in our home that turned out to be due to us running out of propane to cook with in the kitchen. Customer service was overseas with reps who spoke poor English. Complained, but nothing came of it. Decided to cut ties and go with a local company. Informed Amerigas, but they seemed not to care. Asked when they were picking up their 2 -1000-gallon propane tanks, and the reply was soon. Contacted them multiple times over the course of 4 years to pick up their 2-1000-gallon tanks abandoned on our property, including via certified letter, but they refused to accept the latter. FAST FORWARD 4 years later, they FINALLY picked up their abandoned propane tanks!! Today, I received an invoice from Amerigas for $449 (4 years later) for the cost of picking up their tanks yesterday! On hold for 55 minutes AND COUNTING, waiting to speak with a customer Rep to tell them they must rescind the bill or hear from my attorney. BTW, the driver who picked up the tanks said the company is not doing well. Do yourself a huge favor -- read all the reviews on the Internet from Reddit, Facebook. FITCH Ratings just downgraded them to a B.
Living Like It’s 1820 Thanks to AmeriGas
I would give AmeriGas negative stars if that were an option.
Our propane regulator failed on Friday, and apparently AmeriGas’s definition of an “emergency” is only if your house is actively trying to explode. No heat and no hot water—with three kids—in Colorado? Totally fine, I guess.
So here we are, living like it’s the 1800s. Boiling water on the stove just to do dishes, no hot showers, and freezing nights. But don’t worry—according to AmeriGas, this is not urgent.
We spent the entire weekend calling, only to be bounced around like a ping-pong ball between departments. Every single person needed us to repeat our name, phone number, email, and life story before doing absolutely nothing to help.
We even paid out of pocket for a plumber and HVAC tech to confirm the issue—because of course, only AmeriGas can fix their own equipment. Convenient.
Customer service ranged from unhelpful to outright rude. Even after escalating to the “customer retention team” (which is ironic, because this experience guarantees they won’t be retaining us), nothing was resolved.
At this point, we’re just waiting to see what gets fixed first—the regulator or our patience.
Avoid if you enjoy basic luxuries like hot water, heat, and competent customer service.

I have repeatedly ask and requested the propane delivery truck to stay on my gravel drive way. Repeatedly, the driver drives on my grass and yard causing ruts n the ground. I have pictures and I want them to fix my issues. No one calls me back. Terrible customer service. I request action and nothing happens.
SMELLED PROPANE AND CALLED EMERGENCY

THEN LAURA HELPED EXPEDITE MY DELIVERY DATE FOR REFILL BECAUSE OF MY CINCERN OVER WAIT TIME. VERY GRATEFUL TO ALL
Terrible customer service I have…
Terrible customer service I have received a $288 credit from the state months ago on March 5th they received it yet they never added it to my account therefore I will run out of fuel to heat my house and the meantime and did I mention I'm disabled
Amerigas has been a terrible experience…
Amerigas has been a terrible experience since they sold out and the local office closed about 2 yrs ago. We ran out of gas as their lapse in delivery driver availability. This happened mid winter and we were without propane for 72 hrs. It required at least three phone calls that were a weave of different customer service agents mostly from Nairobi Africa where the call centers are based and offer little more than delayed robotic responses.
AmeriGas has been the worst experience I have ever had.
AmeriGas has been one of the most frustrating companies I have ever dealt with.
I own a vacation home in Rehoboth Beach. On February 28th my house manager called to tell me we were completely out of propane. I immediately called AmeriGas on March 1st to report it and ask when the 500-gallon tank was last filled. I was told it had been filled in mid-December — about 75 days earlier. Even with a cold winter, a 500-gallon tank normally lasts us close to 10 months, so we suspected there might be a leak. They scheduled a leak test for March 3rd.
Because I don’t live there full-time, I specifically asked them to call my house manager 30 minutes before arriving. They took his phone number and assured me they would notify him.
No call.
On March 4th I called back to find out what happened. Apparently they went to the house without calling anyone and put a lock on the tank.
After more calls and long waits, I finally reached a service coordinator named Alicia who scheduled another appointment for March 6th.
Again — no call, no show.
At this point I discovered something unbelievable: you cannot actually speak with anyone who works at AmeriGas. Every call goes through a call center or answering service. After multiple calls with nothing being resolved, I even contacted their sales department to see if I could buy the tank outright so another propane company could supply gas.
Their response? They don’t sell buried 500-gallon tanks. I was told I would have to dig the tank out of the ground myself and then call them to come pick it up.
I would gladly do that if it weren’t winter and the house didn’t rely on propane for heat and hot water.
The sales rep said he would try to help — and then transferred me right back to the same useless call center.
I scheduled yet another appointment for March 12th. I received an email confirming it and again was assured they would call before arriving.
You guessed it: another no call, no show.
I called again and escalated it to a call center manager. I asked if I could please speak with someone at AmeriGas directly and was told they do not take calls.
After 44 minutes on the phone they said someone would call me back.
Another day has now passed and no one has called.
Meanwhile my house has no heat and no hot water, and every time I call I end up speaking to someone in another country who cannot actually solve the problem.
This level of service is unacceptable. AmeriGas has locked my tank, missed multiple appointments, and made it nearly impossible to speak to anyone who can fix the issue.
Avoid this company if you value your time, your sanity, or basic customer service.
