Ordered field maple hedging whips. Prompt delivery and good quality whips.

I ordered 4 dahlia tubers. When they arrived I saw that each tuber had 5 or 6 tuber bodies (the fat bits that extend radially from the central crown) but was disappointed that the connecting 'necks' were mostly badly cracked, leaving the bodies hanging limply. I doubted the viability of all these tubers and emailed my concerns to Ashridge. The reply was not to worry, they would be OK.

So... I planted them all in big pots of compost and placed them on a house window board to see what they would do. Well, 1 of them has produced 3 strong shoots, 1 has produced 1 strong shoot and 1 produced 1 weaker shoot. So, of these 3 tubers, most of the 5 or 6 bodies had no viable connection to eyes, as I had suspected. The 4th produced no shoots at all and, when I eventually tipped it out, had made only a few weak roots 9 weeks after potting.

I emailed Ashridge about this and they have just sent me another tuber, which seems to have 3 viable eyes.

For so many necks to be cracked, the tubers had obviously been handled without care. So few viable tuber-neck-eye-crown connections out of 5 or 6 is very poor. It means that my plants will not have very bushy top growth in their first year. I did get a replacement but this in now 2 months behind the others. The shoot of the 3rd, weaker, plant is coming on now I've planted them all out but is only 25 cms high, with a thin stalk, compared to the other 2, which are around 60cm high and already producing flower buds.

This is all very disappointing.

The bare root roses I ordered from Ashridge in January 2025 (Zephirine Drouhin and Dancing Queen) have both taken well and are now producing fantastic blooms, in just 16 months. Zephirine is almost at the top of my pergola already and she smells divine.

We ordered 12 175cm tall purple beech hedging plants as barefoot very late in the season (late May). We soaked them in tepid water for 2 hours when they arrived and got them straight in the ground with biochar, mycorrhizal root stimulant and some additional organic mushroom compost mixed in with grade A topsoil. 5 days later, and through 33 degree heat, all 12 plants are now in leaf.No doubt a testimony to how well the trees were nurtured by Ashridge! Thank you. We really are delighted.

😕Shameful❗️Hopeless❗️ Take the money. No communication as to delivery date/time. Never answer the phone. No complete order or offer of plant substitutes etc etc etc.
Think we’ll pass on ordering a Christmas Tree don’t want it in July‼️

Despatch times are very long. Order placed for lavender on the 6th May. No indication that they did not hold the stock. Chased it a week later and was told despatch not until week of 8th June, 5 weeks later, despite it being the peak lavender planting season.

Inquired further and they do not actually have any stock of lavender and will not be getting any until late May.

At no stage during ordering plants do Ashridge indicate that they do not actually have the stock.

Do not order from this company if you are trying to meet any kind of deadline.

I’d ordered sweet peas from another supplier months ago and was let down at the last minute when they couldn’t fulfil the order and was facing a summer with no sweet peas. Luckily Ashridge had some named varieties left and I was able to order them but was worried they would arrive when we were away for a few days. Having experienced very poor communication from the previous supplier I was surprised and delighted to get an answer within half an hour of placing my order bringing forward my delivery time at no extra cost to get them to me before we left. I was over the moon. Summer isn’t summer without sweet peas and Ashridge completely saved the day with just what I was after and brilliant customer service that went above and beyond what I could have expected. A big thank you to them.

Fantastic plants arrive in great condition and really well packaged.

High quality plants, as ever, securely packed and promptly delivered. Also, commendable flexibility when I had to change the original collection/deliver arrangements. Thanks to Rose and Dan in particular and to all the team involved.

Do not buy anything from this company. Ordered and paid for a number of trees and hedging plants of a certain height. The plants delivered were considerably shorter than the plants ordered. I was told I cannot return the plants and no discount was offered. I assume the positive reviews are from friends / employees. Be warned: do not buy anything from this company.

I ordered 30 lavender plants from Ashridge. Concerned that they might not arrive before I went on holiday I contacted customer service who flagged up my delivery to ensure it would arrive in time for me to plant out. I was impressed by the helpful, personal service.

Placed order at beginning of April to be told (after they’d taken my money) that the lavenders would arrive in May. Contacted via email for an update to then be told it would be another 3 weeks. 7 weeks wait for Lavender??
All done through a robot via email, no human.
Even if there are delays which I appreciate, inform your customers so they can choose as to whether to proceed and wait. Don’t take their money and ignore them. That will cause huge frustration.

Despite a grave disappointment of losing a tree bought last summer which appeared to flourish but which never recovered after winter, Ashridge's Tom was very quick to offer an alternative replacement or a refund. I am very grateful to Ashridge for a solid service.

I had clever used them until the padt month and now I've used them twice.
Plants are superb quality come in a heavy duty box with well.wrapped plant via courier.
I'll be using as often as I can which is a dangerous combo to satisfy my plant addiction!!!

A very bad experience. Ordered plants in November. Understood they would come sometime before spring. But then had an email to say plants would be delayed. I knew delivery would be when I was abroad for month on a work trip. I emailed several times to ask either for a refund or for the plants to be delivered elsewhere. No response. So now plants dying outside a remote cottage. I am also bombarded with special offer emails despite asking repeatedly to be taken off the meeting list.

I placed an order for fruit trees, currant bushes and raspberry canes. The raspberry canes didn’t arrive with the rest of the plants. After contacting customer services, they were eventually sent out. I planted them straight away but now spring has sprung it is clear that of the 5 raspberry canes sent, 2 of them were dead sticks unfortunately.

I had a quince tree sent to me as a present and I was impressed with the height and well branched shape of the tree. It was very well packaged too.
It was dormant when it arrived but is now coming in to leaf and looks really healthy.
I hope it will flower before too long.
I will use Ashridge in future.
