I am writing this review to share my experience during my recent apprenticeship with your programme, as I believe it is important for you to understand the challenges I encountered and to offer constructive feedback for future improvement.

At the outset of the apprenticeship, I was excited, albeit understandably nervous. However, the entirely online format of the course posed significant difficulties for me. As someone with dyslexia, and while awaiting assessments for ASD and ADHD, I found it particularly challenging to keep up. I communicated my need for reasonable adjustments on several occasions, including via email to my tutor, but I felt that these requests were not adequately acknowledged or actioned during the programme.

Regrettably, my tutor was unsupportive and, at times, dismissive. I have always worked hard to overcome my challenges, and combined with the strain of managing full-time work alongside the course left me feeling overwhelmed and seriously considering withdrawing. Fortunately, my supportive family helped me navigate these difficulties and continue with the programme.

I received a formal diagnosis of ASD last Friday, which has brought clarity, but has also highlighted the struggles I faced throughout the apprenticeship. While my employer has been exemplary in providing reasonable adjustments and support, my interactions with my tutor made the experience unnecessarily distressing and anxiety-inducing. The emotional toll was considerable, and I often found myself upset following our conversations.

I am reluctant to submit formal negative feedback, as that is not my intention. However, I feel it is important to share how difficult this journey has been. I am proud to have completed the apprenticeship, yet my prevailing feeling is one of relief that it is now over. To help prevent others from experiencing similar challenges, I would strongly recommend providing that tutor with training on how to support neurodiverse individuals. Greater awareness and understanding could make a significant difference to the experiences of future apprentices.

After completing my Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care, I gained hands-on experience supporting individuals in a residential care home. The course gave me a strong foundation in understanding person-centred care, safeguarding, and the importance of dignity and respect in all interactions.

I became confident in working as part of a multidisciplinary team and following care plans tailored to individual needs. Completing Level 2 made me more aware of infection control practices, health and safety procedures, and my responsibilities in promoting independence and choice.

Aspiration Training is doing an excellent job by making the Level 2 Adult Care qualification accessible, supportive, and practical.
One thing they do particularly well is offering personalised support—through regular tutor visits, 1-to-1 feedback, and clear guidance on assignments. This creates a positive learning environment where learners feel valued and motivated.
Additionally, Aspiration Training ensures that important values such as dignity, respect, safeguarding, and person-centred care are at the core of the program. This focus prepares learners to deliver high-quality, compassionate care in any adult care setting.

Overall, they are helping to raise standards in the care sector by investing in the skills and development of their learners.

Aspiration training has been really good through my training and the website is easy to use, Stacy Simons was my assessor she was really helpful, had the answers to anything I was unsure on and was happy to help if I was struggling with anything

My experience with aspirations training was so smooth and hassle free. I had the great privilege of having Carly McCarthy as my mentor who was an absolute pleasure to study with during the duration of my course. Her organisation skills and expert guidance/ knowledge made my experience so clear, engaging and successful. I could not extend my gratitude and recommend aspirations training and Carly enough for the wonderful experience they gave me and title as a dental nurse. 10/10 course providers and mentor/ vocational coach.

I'm thoroughly enjoying my ongoing training with Aspiration Training, and I have to say, working with my coach Sean has been an absolute game-changer! As a Polish learner returning to education in the UK after a long break, I was quite anxious before starting my Functional Skills course. It’s not easy when you’re not in your home country, English isn’t your first language, and you’re expected to pass not only English but also maths – in English. Naturally, I had some worries and feared being judged or misunderstood.

But working with David has been a truly positive experience. From the beginning, he made me feel welcome, supported, and understood. He explains everything in such a clear and simple way, always making sure I actually understand the topic before moving on. If something doesn’t click right away, he repeats it patiently – without judgment – until it does.

What makes David stand out is his warm and kind personality, combined with his very practical and structured teaching approach. Instead of making me feel embarrassed about my mistakes, like some teachers do, he creates an environment where I feel confident to try, make mistakes, and learn from them.

Thanks to his support, I no longer feel afraid of maths or English. I actually enjoy learning again – and that’s something I didn’t expect. Thank you, David! (David Read)

Completing the Transition to Playworker course has been a valuable and eye-opening experience. As someone already working within creative holiday clubs and afterschool sessions, this course helped me deepen my understanding of the playwork approach and how it differs from more structured early years education.

One of the biggest takeaways for me has been the emphasis on child-led, freely chosen play. While I’ve always valued creativity and exploration, learning about the playwork principles and how to create enabling environments gave me a new appreciation for the power of play as a tool for well-being, development, and self-expression.

I particularly enjoyed exploring how risk and challenge are not something to be avoided, but embraced safely – supporting children to build resilience and confidence. The modules on safeguarding, health and safety, and inclusive practice were especially helpful in aligning my holiday clubs with national standards and best practice.

The course has also encouraged me to reflect more deeply on my own role. Rather than directing play, I now see myself as a facilitator, someone who observes, listens, and provides the right conditions for magical moments of play to unfold.

I would highly recommend the Transition to Playworker course to anyone working with children outside of formal education. It has strengthened both my professional confidence and the quality of my practice, helping me build more inclusive, engaging, and meaningful play experiences for all children.

A huge thank you to Simone, who has been such a supportive and knowledgeable facilitator throughout the course. She made everything easy to understand, approachable, and always responded with warmth and clarity. Her encouragement truly made the learning experience enjoyable and accessible.

I so much love my training with this great learning institution, however I enjoy my last examination with Luke and Leanne Leyshon they were very good at their job, and really great getting to know and work with them.

I have recently completed my Playwork Level 3 course through aspiration training. Each unit that was delivered by my trainer Simone Weldon was very informative. The context of the course was thorough and extremely helpful when completing my workbooks. Simone was very helpful and easy to contact. She made sure that if I had any questions she was on hand to help and provided me with the resources that I needed throughout my completion of the course. It was also my first time using Smart Assessor and Simone explained how to use/upload my work and all the other tools available for me on there. I would definitely recommend Aspiration Training to my colleagues and anyone wishing to complete the course going forward.

I’ve had a great experience with Aspiration Training. My assessor, Caroline Harris, was incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, and encouraging throughout. Thanks to her guidance, I gained a Distinction in my Level 5 qualification. I’d highly recommend both Caroline and Aspiration Training!

My journey from QCF Level 2 to Level 3 has been incredibly rewarding. I had the privilege of working with a wonderful assessor, Vix, who was consistently available even beyond work hours and always encouraging. Her support made a real difference in my learning experience.
