Took around 8 weeks to file my US taxes, despite agreeing that 4 weeks was enough time. This meant he missed the deadline. Transpired later that he in fact went ahead and filed without authorization and lied about it. He made a mistake that any CPA just out of school would not have made, which I figured out when his behaviour became so erratic that I talked to an actual qualified CPA in the US. I asked Alistair to make the required changes. I got no apology for not knowing something pretty basic (about mortgages) which he also screwed up on my previous year's return.
He also failed to file an additional form even though I reminded him twice. Eventually seeing the deadline close to slipping by I filled it in myself and sent it to him so he only had to copy what I had already done.
He did the amendment and then never filed it. It's now over 6 months since I first sent the documents in and he still hasn't filed the amendment despite the fact that he has done it. I have practically been begging by email. It's all so inexplicable and miserable to deal with. I wish there was a body I could report him to but i'm actually not sure he's qualified. Can't find him in any registers yet and no letters after his name on his email or website or LinkedIn.
