Barnet Carers Avis 

Very helpful in a number of ways, firstly in carryring out a carer's assessment by telephone and then providing the resulting document by email so that I could see how to access various services.
Second, and very importantly, providing a highly skilled counsellor to talk through aspects of caring (for others AND self) which helped me negotiate often conflicting emotions and, third, providing access to home care assistance which I thought I might need after a knee operation and while my partner was very unwell. In the end I didn't use much of it but it was helpful and flexible. I am VERY happy to recommend anyone involved in caring to contact this organisation and its super group of people.

I have had the privilege of knowing Barnet Carers Centre for over 30 years, and throughout that time, their unwavering dedication has been nothing short of remarkable. Their support for carers is delivered with genuine kindness, deep compassion, and a level of empathy that truly sets them apart. They consistently go above and beyond to ensure that individuals feel heard, valued, and supported during what can often be very challenging times.

What has always impressed me is not only their heartfelt approach, but also their excellent organisation. The team works seamlessly to provide services, advice, and resources in a way that feels both professional and personal. Over the decades, they have remained a reliable and trusted presence in the community, adapting to changing needs while never losing sight of their core values.

Barnet Carers Centre is an outstanding example of how care, respect, and efficiency can come together to make a real difference in people’s lives. I cannot speak highly enough of the impact they continue to have.

When I first contacted Barnet carers I was depressed and feeling very low. No one understood what I was going through, and how hard it was for to see my young adult son suffering with long covid / chronic fatigue. I was suffering from grief and loss, loss because my son's life was not like it was, like it should be for a young man ,with his whole life ahead of him.
The first counselling service I had off BC was ok, but it was only for 12 weeks . I requested for more as I still needed it, even though there was not death, I felt that there was. They were kind and offered me a few more. Then the counselling finished again, but still I was still depressed and unable to cope.BC still tried to help me and 6/7 months later they offered me a new counsellor and kindly gave me access to 12 more weeks. This counsellor was excellent and really helped me. I wish I could have had more sessions with her. But I learned a lot how to cope and look after myself and own needs. I am in a better place, but of course I still feel very sad at times because my son is still ill.Their counselling service in invaluable. I personally think it needs to be face to face, which it was for me. I needed a physical safe place which they offered. Also it was affordable which really helps.

A truly life changing experience for me.

Recently retired, I found myself stepping immediately from a busy working life into a caring role of my elderly parent. I found the anxiety of dealing with a frail parent very difficult at times. The expert counselling I received at Barnet Care enabled me to better understand patterns of behaviour, family dynamics, notions of the 'good enough' child and parent.

The legacy of the excellent counselling is that I have been given tools to understand and deal with patterns - family dynamics, caring, anxiety - to better ensure a good life with my husband whilst at the same time enabling my caring role.

Really bad service firstly they dont get back to you as they are too busy. Also my wife applied for a carers grant but as she didn't fill the form out correctly even though English is not her first launage they said you have to wait a year now . She is an unpaid carer for me i have a terminal illness and she has no income at all so if they cant help people like her what's the point .

Our 14 year old daughter was introduced to the charity as a Young Carer (via her brother, who has ASD). She’s been struggling with anxiety and was really unsure about going along to meet the other Young Carers but the charity have been amazing- visiting her at school to reassure her, giving her enough confidence to take the next steps. She’s so thrilled she did! And so are we- hopefully she can now turn a corner

Since i started with Barnet carers my honest opinion is that they look after me very well they are reliable They take care of me they are so professional in what they do I highly recommend this service because if someone can’t manage they get to go out for a few hours my favourite carers are Debbie, Gill, David, Sandro but specially gill Debbie David and Sandro and max as they are caring and I must not forget the people behind all of this people like donia,Sara,Gloria and Geri and without them nothing will be posible so thank you For an amazing year

The Home Care Team at Barnet Carers look after my 90 year-old Mother. She has vascular dementia and is partially sighted. I particularly like the continuity of her care - she usually has the same Homecare Assistant who provides stimulating companionship and leaves my Mother happy and content. In my experience the Team are very well trained and committed to their work and the Management team are helpful and supportive when changes to Mum's care package are required. I cannot thank them enough for the peace of mind they provide when I am at work. Brilliant!
