Was going to bid on a car via ibidder.com, make sure you read ALL T & C's, they charge two extortionate charges, they charge a ridiculous commission of 40% plus VAT, then an outstanding admin charge of £695 plus VAT. Don't get caught out, would be easier just buying off the forecourt and probably cheaper!

Horrible company to deal with women on the phone is ruthless bought a car 720 end up costing me 1800 thought never mind aslong as it runs nice 👍

In June 2026 I successfully bid £175 for a diamond through BidSpotter on behalf of Cambridgeshire Auctions.

After the auction I promptly paid the initial invoice. I was then presented with a second invoice demanding over £900 in additional charges, including a fixed administration fee of £695 plus VAT, a buyer’s premium and a further buyer’s surcharge.

The additional charges exceeded five times the hammer price.

The auctioneer maintains that these fees were disclosed on the lot page. However, on the mobile version of the website, the fee was not displayed prominently. Instead, it appeared only within a collapsed section that required the user to expand multiple menus before the information became visible. Nothing on the bidding screen itself alerted me to a fixed £695 administration charge.

Bought a vauxhall mokka and read the terms and conditions before so wasn't surprised by the cost as some people leaving reviews seem to be.
I travelled down and everything went smoothly.
The chap that helped me was great.
I don't have any complaints about them.
I will check other auctions and will have no problems buying again.
Rules for buyers are read the terms and you won't be able to complain.

They are a joke , I won 300 car they send 1 invoice , I even called to check if that it’s all I have to pay and they confirmed. I paid and second day send another invoice , when I call them back they said that I received 2 invoices and gave to pay them until can get the car . Now they say that I had to check spam for second one when clearly came next minute after I pay first one . DO NOT BUT WHIT THEM .

Literally what all the other reviews have said, you pay the invoice and get sent another invoice. Now I was about to pay the other invoice until I read the reviews, you keep paying over and over and they have refused to give me a refund or to give me location of the car.
Furthermore the auction got extended from Friday and woke up to a winning bid..do not place a bid or even pay..struggling to get my money back now

I bought a vehicle through Cambridgeshire Auctions and paid for it in full. After payment, the company refused to release the vehicle unless I also paid for two other vehicles that I disputed being responsible for.

I repeatedly asked either for the vehicle to be released or for a refund, but both were refused. This left me with no option but to take the matter to court.

The court ruled in my favour, awarded me a full refund, dismissed the company's counterclaim, and ordered them to pay my court fees and expenses.

Even after the judgment, payment was not made within the time ordered by the court.

This was a stressful and time-consuming experience that could have been avoided. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone bidding with this auction house carefully checks all terms, fees and procedures before placing bids.

Bought an astra van for £540 paid that to receive another invoice for £1050 so I paid this too only to get another bill for £1760 for late fees is this legal i can't afford the 1760 at all so lost 1600 quid can I get my money back somehow thanks very much

This is a scam company. Hopefully someone will stop them. I've been scammed as well with hiden expenses and double the invoice plus other fees. I do believe in karma . too many people was affected by them. I wish them to have at least all the stress created to people.

Appears to be a scam business. Everyone saying the same experience. I urge the company to do better and play by the rules and not extorting monies from working people! Hard earned money.

I wanted to buy my wife a diamond neckless as a present for our diamond wedding anniversary,so I made a bid on an item. But it came up I hadn`t reached the reserve price so I made similar bids on another two items with same answer.
Then all of a sudden the reserve prices were lowered and they declared I had now bought them.
After contacting them to try and cancel my bids I wa told that this could not be done.
I then received an invoice for all three items which included £695 admin fee for each one.
Two days later I received a further invoice for late payment,which again included the admin fees.
Again I rang them and was told quite rudely that I should have read their terms and conditions of purchase,which slearly stated they had the rights to do this.
If I wasn`t happy with this I should visit a solicitor.But I would be invoiced daily for further late payment fees.
I rang my solicitor who checked into their terms and conditions,who confirmed that I could not dispute anything.
The end result was that after i was wanting to buy one diamond neckless for £400 it finished up costing me nearly £5000.
I then questioned what did I get for paying £595 admin fees,and was told that tis was to cover insurance and authentification.But nothing was given.
The three necklesses arrived by everyday post with no paperwork whatsoever.
This company (If it is an actual company ) should be banned by Bidspotter from being allowed to trade like this.

This is scam organisation doubling as auction. After paying £1000 +vat for a car they asked for another £1314 a ridiculous surcharge and buyer’s premium. Before I could raise the money over the holiday and pay they said I will now pay an additional £2540 for late payment on invoice. These guys will ruin you don’t ever start with them they are terrible

Don’t buy from them, they don’t give out all the information. Vehicles are sold as ‘runners’ but when you go to pick up they have engine faults which they don’t disclose. They post nice pictures but in truth vehicles have body marks.the yard is also in the middle of nowhere and difficult to get to. They also make it hard to communicate with the yard to ask questions about the vehicle insisting on emails only no telephone number for direct contact. You can only call the office which isn’t friendly. Their fees are very high and their aim is to fine you extortionate amount for late payments. Stay well away, There’s lots of really good auctions with transparency the key. If you’re nearby then definitely make sure you go to the yard to check the vehicle with an experienced mechanic. I buy from lots of auctions and these are by far the worst with a fancy name.

I wanted to warn others about my experience. After being told I had won a car, I paid the invoice in full. Shortly after, I received a second email demanding an additional £1,170 in fees that were not clearly explained beforehand. And the shocking part is the FEEs is much more than the vehicle.

When I called to question this, the lady on the phone kept interrupting me and repeatedly saying, “ma’am, you agreed to this,” without properly explaining the charges.

I have never dealt with an auction like this before. The process felt very unclear and misleading, and the extra costs came as a complete shock.

I strongly advise others to be extremely careful and make sure you fully understand all fees before bidding or just avoid at all costs.

Just looked at fiat 500. No mention of damage to vehicle. Also disgusting admin fee £695 plus VAT. Do not buy of these scammers. All over auctions now

BEWARE...very unusual fee set up here- instead of the usual 25-35% commissions they add a staggering £695plus VAT on every bid accepted!! My bid was below the asking price-but the auctioneer then lowered this to accept my bid. I happily paid the invoice for £270. They then sent another invoice for £940 for admin fees!!!

Extremely concerning practices, proceed with caution

My partner has had a very distressing experience with this auctioneer company, and after reading other reviews on Trustpilot, it appears this is not an isolated incident.

The company appears to lure customers into purchasing items through their site, only for the finalised lot to then be hit with excessive and unexpected fees, including administration charges of £490+, which are not made clear upfront. Once committed, customers seem to be placed under pressure, with additional lots later being forced onto them and invoices continually pushed, making it impossible for ordinary, hardworking people to afford the final amount.

From our experience, this felt highly manipulative and unfair. What is most worrying is that when researching further, we found multiple similar complaints from other customers describing the same pattern of behaviour — suggesting this may be a regular occurrence rather than a one-off mistake.

We also contacted iBidder for support, however they have not helped at all. Instead, they told my partner that he was in the wrong, despite the lack of transparency around fees and the issues raised. This response raises serious concerns and suggests a clear ulterior motive for iBidder to support these sales regardless of the impact on customers.

The stress and financial pressure caused by this has been significant. Customers should be fully informed of all costs before committing to a purchase, and that has not been our experience here.

We are currently investigating this matter through Trading Standards and the Financial Ombudsman, and would strongly advise others to be extremely wary before engaging with this company. Please do your research carefully and read the small print before bidding.

I am senior chartered accountant and from my experience in business over 10 years I can say I have never seen this type of manipulation. This needs to be investigated.

I am currently disputing several lots with Cambridgeshire Auctions. I have timestamped email evidence from i-bidder showing lots marked as 'Reserve Not Met' at the close of the auction, which were then manually changed to 'Won' hours later after I had already paid for other items.
​Furthermore, the auctioneer altered lot descriptions multiple times during the live bidding process, violating the Consumer Rights Act 2015. They are currently withholding property I have settled in full as leverage to force payment for these disputed, unauthorized bids.
​I know I am not the only one this has happened to. If you have experienced this 'Reserve Not Met' to 'Won' status flip or had your paid goods held hostage, please reach out. I am currently coordinating a formal report to Cambridgeshire Trading Standards and i-bidder Compliance to address these systemic issues.

Please avoid at all costs, I have just had to cancel my order after paying £1238 in addition costs and wanted a further £2990 for apparently late fees. This is owned apparently by husband and wife of late age but I don't believe it is them. I am forwarding all correspondence to the correct authorities but had to pay and loose my money to fight for it back. I would NOT ADVISE ANYONE TO BUY from this auction company and think all the auction platforms need to be aware of the companies they are allowing to abuse the system to vulnerable people.
