Quality has been very inconsistent over…

Quality has been very inconsistent over the last year as if they have different companies making the product for them. Lately it appears they are injecting air and water to fluff up the pate foil top cups and my cats are now walking away from the food. I heard they sold out recently to another company.

Unfortunately almost lost one of my cats to this addition to their diet

Unfortunately, after two weeks of my cats eating this food, one of them had a severe blockage in his bladder to where he was unable to urinate. His bladder had ballooned three times its normal size so needless to say I came home one day and he was in terrible pain. 4/5 days at the vet and $700 later the blockage was removed his bladder flushed out and he is recovering.
I realized adding more protein to their diet would require more fluids so I did purchase a water fountain for them as well as sometimes would fix this new cat food the wet food with water as well.
From what the vets told me the new food threw his PH balance off leading to the blockage formation.
Now both cats are on a prescription diet from the vets.
I would like to see more information from these little companies letting people know this could happen. I’d rather be informed than come home and watch my cat die.
Again I was using just the wet foods from this company. I didn’t think much of it when both cats started to eat less and less of this wet food. I just thought they didn’t like the current flavor.
It took about three weeks for everything to settle back down after that vet visit.

Hi KK. First and foremost, we're so sorry to hear that your cat went through this. We're so glad to hear he's doing OK now. Urinary tract blockages are complex medical issues often caused by feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC) and urolithiasis (urethral stones). The cause of urinary issues is mostly unknown. However, infections, hydration, environmental stress and pH levels in food all may play a role. At this time, we don't have any special food for urinary care or UTI prevention. We do, however, have information around the pH levels of our food. A cat's natural urine pH is between 6-6.5. All of our recipes fall between 5.3- 6.2, categorizing them as slightly more acidic, but very close to the ideal natural urine pH of cats. As such, we do not believe that feeding our food should cause urinary blockages or bladder stones in otherwise healthy cats. My cat is obsessed with the duck and…

My cat is obsessed with the duck and turkey kibble. That said she has had so many health issues since eating this food for over two years. My cat developed stomach problems, feeling sick and puking a lot, chronic constipation and kidney disease. Aside from major problems, the shipping time is long, very little transparency about the food in general. I asked about phosphorus content through email and they would not tell me, which is strange. They only told me it’s not good for kidney disease cats… thats not what I asked! There are far too many peas in it which cats have problems with I would not recommend this food to anyone, period. Im sure they will clap back at me, but my experience is my experience.

Good product but takes weeks for shipping!

My cat is a fan of the dry food, doesn’t care for the wet or treats. Make sure you order well in advance of running out because the length it takes to ship is terrible. I ordered a week and a half ago and tracking still says usps waiting to receive package. Seriously considering just switching to one of the healthier store brands.
Been using for a few years and shipping times actually seems to be getting worse instead of better. Sad really, because the dry product is good.

Customer Service Is Great

Although my cat didn't enjoy cat person, I really enjoyed them. I love their brand and especially the ingredient list. When I reached out to them to try and return the products, they were very responsive (they responded back on Monday when I sent an email on Saturday, got an auto response saying they won't answer until Monday because it was Thanksgiving weekend, which of course made sense). They made the return very convenient and asked that I donate the extra orders I have to a local shelter. Overall, I had a great experience with them, aside from my picky cat. :)

That this will be a recurring order without prior notification.

This plan is quite expensive (I'm retired) But I really hoped that this would be a product that my ailing cat would eat. Unfortunately, he rejected this too. He recently passed on. I didn't feel right trying to return what was left of the order and donated it to a cat rescue group. I didn't expect to be automatically charged again!

The customer service is Zero

The customer service is Zero. Twice I have sent in a complaint, there has never been an answer. In a new box of cognitive blend, a packet was extremely bloated. I threw it out & wrote them & sent pictures.
That whole box of cognitive blend I suspect is bad. None of my cats will touch it. Normally they love it.

5 days since I placed my order and nothing.. can't readily get in touch with them either. Very unhappy with customer service and quality of business overall. .

It's been 5 days since I placed my order. They said I'd receive notification once my order shipped and I've heard nothing. I sent a text to the number on their 'contact me' section inquiring about the order and got a msg back saying they don't work on weekends. Now I just want my money back but I can't msg or email them again bc it says that'll cause you to fall further back in the queue, which is concerning, for one, and just really poor business practice in my experience... it's like they have you and your money in a stronghold. I've been around plenty of small businesses and this is bad practice and unacceptable customer service. I've not even made it through the first order yet and already this doesn't seem like it's going to be the kind of company I want to give my business to.

Could cause fatal kidney issues

I bought this food on a whim after weeks of trying different foods for my cat when I saw an IG ad for it. My cat loves the taste of it, but a few weeks later a friend of mine came over, saw that I was using Cat Person, and warned me against it. A few years ago her cat died very suddenly of kidney disease. She said he died about 2 months after he started the Cat Person diet. She said it could have been a coincidence, but she wanted to warn me in case. So I started looking into it, and I found a lot of evidence that supports her theory. A lot of cats die from kidney disease, and Cat Person's website itself warns against feeding their food to cats with kidney issues because of the high protein content. And the problem is if your cat DOES have kidney issues, you most likely won't know until it's too late. Sure enough, after feeding my cat half a can a day of this food (which is less than the recommended 1-2 cans) for about two weeks, she started peeing a lot more frequently (a sign of kidney issues) and generally acting strange and perturbed. I switched her back to her old food (which she had stopped eating), Fussie Cat, and she seems to be back to normal spirits.

I also asked the nutrition specialist at my vet about it, and after doing research into the brand, she warned me against a few things: 1. She couldn't find the phosphorus levels in the food, which she found worrying. 2. She said the brand has a co-packer, so she couldn't verify the quality of the ingredients. 3. The brand doesn't have food catered to different life stages (less than 1 year is kitten, 1-7 years is adult, 7+ is senior). Basically, she said it seems like some cat lovers with the best intentions created this brand but failed to do the more scientific research. She recommended the Hills diet plan -- she said she's been to their facilities and seen how much research they do and how well they treat the animals. My vet said the phosphorus levels in Fussie Cat were good but she couldn't verify the manufacturing process, which was worrisome to her. Once I run out of the Fussie Cat food, I'm planning to switch to the Hills diet. I'll probably throw away the Cat Person food, or feed my cat half a can every once in a while so as not to upset her kidneys.

TLDR: This food may literally kill your cat. Be careful.

More importantly, we spoke with our feline-focused veterinarian regarding renal disease and diet. According to research, there is no protective value to restricting protein prior to the onset of kidney failure, as it is not preventive or helpful for a healthy pet to be restricted in dietary protein. High-protein diets do not cause kidney failure. They can certainly exacerbate illness after kidney disease has been diagnosed or kidney failure has begun, however, high-protein diets do not cause kidney disease. Additionally, according to her professional opinion, protein restriction is probably the least important dietary modification in early stages of kidney disease.
There are special diets available for patients with less restrictive needs and others for patients in more advanced states. While we don't offer those diets at this time, it's definitely something we hope to introduce in the future.

Maximus loves his Cat Person

We’ve been feeding Maximus Cat Person exclusively for more than a year. A few months ago, our order seemed to get lost in transit. When I reached out, another order was rush shipped to me at no charge. When the original shipment did show up, I notified Cat Person and was told that I could keep both orders at no extra charge. Service at its best.
We’ve since adopted Uma and now both of our fur babies enjoy the best of the best.

Cannot recommend this brand enough

Cannot recommend this brand enough! I have one overweight cat and one underweight cat with digestion issues. I had tried every food on the market and this is the only one that works for them. The big guy has lost weight on this food and the little one hasn’t thrown up since a couple of days after we switched to Cat Person! Their coats are looking so much healthier and they’re more energetic and playful. My cats love the chicken and the tuna best, they literally come running when i open a container (they’ve never expressed excitement or interest when i’ve fed them in the past). I’ll never buy anything else, i’m so grateful to have found this!!

Best Decision!

My 15 year old cat is doing so much better since I switched to Cat Person. She is throwing up lesser (hairball mixed with food ) everyday. This makes her happier and more lively.

Update 8/20/2023 : my cat has stopped throwing up her food now. Another reason why I love Cat Person is also because it doesn’t stink like the store bought cat food.

Cat loves the food and it has helped my cat lose weight. That said, ABSOLUTLEY WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. They do not know how to properly run a business, obviously with taking no calls for support. You are at the mercy of email and text and their response time is BS. Placed an order on the 26th of July and STILL hasn't even shipped yet. Now I have to spend extra money on other food. Seems all they care about is having it on monthly auto-order but yeah, my credit card that I had stored on their site and NO ONE else got cancelled because of FRAUD attempts. Cat Person had no answer to this and didn't make it up to a reoccurring customer in any way. BAD BUSINESS practice. I will be telling this story on every cat food review site as I possibly can. People need to know what they are getting into with this company's NON-EXISTENT customer service.

The worst customer service ever

The worst customer service ever. My cat will not eat the food so I've been trying to get information on how to return the order for days. The customer has absolutely no chance of reaching anyone in a timely manner. You are completely at the mercy of someone from Cat Person to text or email at their convenience, and you don't dare send more than one text or email asking for help.
If they want to make a go of it, they really should improve customer service.
