Communication is very low especially if you are online student.changes in the structure of the course ; coordinator is very common leaving students without or with very little support. Assignment are changed last minute and some lecturer have no idea how to explain. Lodging complaint is like find a lake in the Sahara lack of communication with some lecturer.

I would not recommend studying at CDU based on my personal experience.

I enrolled in the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood).
I received a total mark of 47 in the Human Development unit and failed by just 3 marks. Because of those 3 marks, I now have to re-enrol in the unit and spend another three months studying the same subject. This has been financially and emotionally stressful.

I completed my bachelor's degree at another university, where students who were very close to passing were given opportunities such as reassessment or a review of their work. After receiving my result, I emailed the unit coordinator to ask whether my assessment could be reviewed or whether I could resubmit an assignment, but I was told that this was not allowed under university policy. I was very disappointed that there was no flexibility for a student who was only a few marks short of passing.

I understand that universities have academic standards, and I accept responsibility for my own performance. However, I believe students who narrowly miss a pass should have access to a fair review process or another opportunity to demonstrate that they have met the learning outcomes.

Overall, my experience at CDU has been disappointing. I hope the university improves its online teaching, makes assessment practices more transparent, and provides better support for students who are genuinely trying to succeed.

CONS:
CDU do NOT honour its mission statement or values.
CDU is inefficient due to lack of skilled professional staff.
Current EBA [2022] is misleading reference to consultation with unions during initial EBA consultation stage, of which did not happen during the 2022 consultation period.
CDU Enterprise bargaining agreement [2022] does not include any employee rights during the probation period unlike 90% other Australian Universities.
If terminated during probation period you will receive only two weeks notice and annual leave that is it.
Relocation to your original departure city in the south of Australia is approximately $12000 [1x container and 1x vehicle].
My professor directed professional staff to record their conversations with me without my consent. This was used against me and was used against me in my termination.
My professor assessed me without my knowledge or allowing adequate preparation time.
Executive staff have little clue what they are doing.
Lots of back stabbing goes on there due to insecure staff.
High percentage of new immigrant employees.
The VC is a phantom.
Darwin is very remote, hot and humid.
Accommodation is expensive.
Living expenses are above the national average due to the remoteness.
The military subsidises personnel accomodation which inflates the price.
Campus Coffee is expensive.
CDU Aircon is freezing.
No shaded car parking so your car roasts in the sun!

PROS:
Heavy traffic is non existent.
Spacious and lots of trees on campus.
Great location of main campus close to the ocean.
CDU will include a relocation package if negotiated.
Relocation package includes 1 month accomodation.
Faculty of the arts is culturally diverse.
