The app is literally a scam
The app is literally a scam.
I found out today that I have been subscribed to this scam of an app for 3 years!! My last email I have from them is a notification saying they were unable to charge my account back in 2020 at the end of my trial. Didn’t realise they have my card information somehow.
Regardless, they have not contacted me since, and they did not provide any proof of purchase/ receipt through emails so far, just silently charged through.
It is my bad to not notice, but still it is hard since it is one payment for a whole year, and they literally gave no notice/ information at all.
This app is designed to scam people, literally worse than scums who swindle money out of old retirees accidentally signed up for news and media services
Terrible disgrace of a business. Should be banned
Making money out of bad internal policies
I had stopped using the app for some time even though I still had some months left in my subscription. So when it expired, my subscription was automatically renewed without any notice to me and charged 1200sek (120Euro) from my credit card. When contacting the costumer service a week later they refused to refund for a service that I never used. How can they charge for something not used? And in addition to that they keep using their internal policies as an excuse. They can easily track if there was any usage and make a fair assessment, which was not the case. It's unacceptable that the company is not concerned about their image and how their clients are treated, the company must really be in a bad situation if they really want to make profit out those kind tricks, as it is pretty much stealing from their consumers. Chris Hemsworth as the founder should be really concerned about the future of the app, with this poor level of consumer policies, there is no space in the market for them.
Litterally a scam
I downloaded this app because i always wanted to try one of these workouts, well turns out i choose the worse app out there. 1st off, they promise you a 7 days free of charge unlimited workouts on the app. But you still need to enter your credit card informations. And they immediately deduct you of the money. So basically false advertising. And the workouts are not even that great, they are long, very hard, and most of them require heavy equipment. So, to sum up we have a workout app that's expensive, has false advertising everywhere, has very hard and not very feasable workouts to be honest. I just hope i'm gonna get the 24,99€ that they charged me back so i can put it in a better and cheaper app
Mediocre app and terrible customer service
I wish I had read these reviews signing before signing up. I signed up for a 6 week trial, had an okay experience and therefore decided to continue with a years subscription. However my personal circumstances changed when my mum was taken into hospital for a few months, so I stopped using the app. With no warning, Centr took another £93 from me last week for another years subscription. I had previously tried to cancel in advance, but couldn’t work out how to do so - therefore assumed this would not be an issue. Despite reading the review below where a customer with a very similar experience HAS been refunded I found they will not give me my money back- an absolute joke.
To the app itself, it’s okay. However meal plans/ cooking is complex. I just didn’t have time to keep on top of this when mum got ill. Workouts were good, but the need for dumb bells for quite a few sessions was annoying as didn’t have any. Most frustratingly I could not mirror the app to my tv so ended up doing workouts from my phone. When trying to keep form etc, this is very risky and I felt prone to injury

They took nearly £100 even though I cancelled my subscription and when I told them it had resulted in me going overdrawn and not being able to eat for 2 weeks they didn't care! Don't use this app!

Terrible practice and customer service
Like many others, I had a 4 weeks trial (and read the T&Cs) but naively thought they would send me a reminder before charging me for the yearly subscription. I haven't used the app during the trial as I was busy with other sports and ended injuring my wrist. I contacted the customer service within a few minutes of receiving the notification from my bank that I was being charged, explaining in good faith that I never used the app and had an injury. Like others, they shoved the T&Cs in my face and refused to refund. It took quite a few emails back and forth and escalation on my end to eventually get them to happilly offer a refund if I was providing a medical certificate for my wrist injury (which I did within minutes as I already had one for my gym membership).
Of course their reason for refunding me had nothing to do with my wrist (as they would have offered it after my very first email) but just couldn't bother getting it escalated. They didn't even respond when I sent the certificate. I had to chase them 3 days later to make sure the money was being refunded.
On all the emails, they have absolutely never addressed my concerns regarding the lack of reminder and their terrible customer service.
I've worked for over 8 years in this field, selling from mid-range to luxury services. None of the companies I worked for would have taken money without several warnings prior to the due date. None of the companies I worked for have kept the money when the clients cancelled on the same day they were charged, even though deposits were non-refundable in our T&Cs. T&Cs are important for a business and should be read by customers but good companies do care and are fine moving things around when needed. Mistakes/emergencies/unplanned issues can happen and they get it (up to a certain point of course). There is no point keeping a customer who is not happy! I have acknowledged that it was my mistake I didn't cancel but they absolutely never acknowledged doing anything wrong, or that they would take the feedback to improve their systems. I was told over and over that I was the only one in the wrong.
Automatic reminders prior to a payment are stupidly easy to set up. They know exactly what they are doing and their business plan is completely based on shady practice to get people paying for something they actually don't want. I can't support that and I can't even comprehend that a famous actor would accept to be involved with this.
Once my wrist is healed, I'll go back to the app I was using previously.
Edit following their response (1 month later): where did I ever say their T&C's and response was incorrect or unclear? Once again they do not address the actual complaint which is the lack of reminder (super shady when you don't offer any flexibility or refund option) and their complete lack of empathy (big issue when you work in customer service). + The lie on the reason for "happily" refunding me (why waiting 4 or 5 emails to refund for a reason stated in my very first one).

Terrible business model! These guys don’t refund for anything!
I wish I went on Trust Pilot before I signed up for the Centr.com trial.
Chris Hemsworth’s business, Centr, offers customers a free trial to their wellness service, with the attempt to hook them at the end of the trial period.
I attempted to cancel for 3 days before the trail was ending and the website was down, relaying a “ooops, something went wrong, try again” error.
Then I managed to cancel, but I cancelled on the last day of my trial and the money had already been taken from my account.
When I emailed customer services and explained I could not cancel and I wanted a refund, now that I managed to cancel, they said they do not process any refunds, for any reasons, basically.
They quoted their Terms & Conditions, where they cover their backs against any accidental renewal of subscription, to ensure they don’t give you your money back. I specifically explained the situation and that I’m not interested in using their service and they kept the corporate line that they don’t do refunds.
Stay away from this service, if you’re not committed to using it. If you’re only trialling it out, make sure to cancel that trial 24 hours before the trial ends, because that’s how they manage to suck customer’s money from their bank accounts.
I wonder if Chris Hemsworth is aware that this is the business model that Centr is adopting.
Shameful how they treat potential customers. I would have joined their service in a few months, when I was ready to commit, but now I know to stay away.

A Hemsworth (business) took my week’s food money (and won’t give it back)
A scam = when money is taken from you and there’s NO WAY of getting it back.
I cancelled my subscription and was offered another 14 days after the 4 week trial finished. I had cancelled (or so I thought), so I clicked OK, expecting it to just expire at the end of the extension.
Two weeks later, with no warning (OR receipt), I was charged for a year’s membership!!
I contacted support, but they just kick out their standard, patronizing legal email telling me to -“enjoy the year’s membership”, with no mention of a refund, as apparently they don’t give refunds for ANYTHING - even if accidentally push a wrong button! They constantly refer to their T&Cs to wriggle around issues.
When Chris reads the membership figures, is he aware of how many have been duped into joining, fleeced of cash and will NEVER renew?
Terrible business model relying on conned, unhappy members to provide their business revenue..these are predatory tactics
This is a black mark on “Brand Hemsworth”. and living in Byron Bay, where he is, if see him in the street, I’ll be sure to let him know what’s going on.
(Btw, I'll bet neither he or the team are aware of the collection agent’s unethical practices)
This is my first post about this, but this week, as well as contacting my bank and the Australian Consumer people (ACCC), I’m finding plenty of similar sites to this one, with disgruntled people like us - I'll just keep posting to them. (and of course, I’ll blitz all my socials).
If I can save just one person from having to go through this BS, it will all be worthwhile.
*****Stay well away!!!***** Do not start the trial - I deeply regret I did - no money back for you, sucker….
PS. If Centr do respond to this, guaranteed it will be along “we acted within our terms and conditions blah blah blah”
A scammer can make their own terms and conditions too, doesn’t mean they’re fair or just…

Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. I joined under the 4-week free trial and canceled my subscription the next day. Yet at the end od 4 weeks was just charged the full amount! I contacted customer service and they refused to help me citing that they don't give refunds even when the error is on their side. This company has terrible customer service and doesn't truly care about what they're pushing. Use one of the MANY other options out there and I'm sure you'll be very pleased.

Exactly the same criminal behaviour happened to me. I subscribed to a trial, canceled as it was not for me, well in advance of the trial ending, and the f-ckers charged me. Now I am in a fight with them to get a refund and they are hiding behind their 3rd party billing crap.
Edit, Mar.16.22 Note their reply to my review and most others the past few months. What rot. Contacting their supposed support does nothing. It is their so called subscription itself that is the criminal issue. You sign up for their 'trial' and you can't opt out of it. Don't read their BS reply as anything but exactly that. Criminals all of them.

This company are a bunch of scam artists.
I signed up for a free trial back in April 2020, found the app useless for my lifestyle, and thought I had cancelled. Just recently discovered that I've been paying 24e a month for a service I don't use. It has accumulated the cost of almost 500e.
They never once sent out a monthly emailing stating I was going to be charged again. Also their bank account name is P0401AU so nothing about the payments coming out of my account indicated it was going to this company so I had no clue.
The customer service has been less than helpful, only sending back automated responses. This company is without morals and are snubbing people right from under their noses. I couldn't recommend more to STAY AWAY from this company.

Poor customer & cancellation service
Poor customer service, I’ve seen a lot of poor reviews regarding cancellations and renewals and I wish I checked these sooner, as the exact same thing has happened as the other 20 odd reviews have clearly stated. I rarely write negative reviews, but it seems to me like it is a stingy company. Swallowing such a hefty cost now 👎🏼👎🏼

Just don't bother. Go with another company that cares about customers
I signed up for a free trial and went to cancel on day 7, but I had already been charged. I asked for a refund and they said no. I can't deal with companies like this who are so greedy. There is so much competition in this space I just don't get this attitude.
Another issue was how customer service handled it. I submitted a support ticket on day 7, the same day I was charged asking for a refund. They ignored my question in their response and gave me some generic answers to a question I didn't ask. So I had to as AGAIN in my reply and they told me no. So that's all just so dumb and annoying to deal with.

I signed up for the free trial and really enjoyed the classes. I'm loving Centr 6, the varying levels the app offers, I just wanted something I could really stick to and on days I've really NOT wanted to work out it really helps me stay motivated because you can adjust the workout to how you feel and I don't want to lose my streak and it's only 20-30 mins.
I like that you can choose between the different workouts, I really enjoy the align classes when I don't have as much energy to jump around.
This lockdown I've lost almost 10Kgs with the help of Centr6.
If you're like me and don't really like working out I advise the centr6 program, but you will also gain access to the other programs if you want to mix it up a bit.

DON'T SIGN UP - IT'S NOT A TRIAL
Their free trial is a scam and their customer service is awful. I cancelled within the 7-day trial and all seemed fine, then I got charged anyway and my subscription was reactivated. I wrote to their customer service and the most arrogant woman in the world said the fine print says we'll charge you anyway, but that they had been so amazingly great as to allow me to not be charged next year - but let's see, they might reactivate it again.. I have reported them to amex and app store, so hopefully they cannot hustle anyone else - great branding for a great actor, he should get out of this scam.

Awful customer service.
Awful customer service.
As soon as I realised money had been taken from my account I emailed Centr straight away within the hour, I got a reply that just stated there’s nothing they can do as it’s in the terms and conditions.
I think it’s awful that they automatically take your money without an email or correspondence telling you that the subscription is up for renewal, I thought I had cancelled it but you don’t go through Apple subscriptions in settings you have to login to the Centr account and cancel it on there.*They also keep your bank details so make sure you delete that off as well*
I work for the NHS and worked all through Covid pandemic and thought it would be good for my mental health to use the App last year whilst all the gyms were closed but had no intention of carrying on this year.
The App is very glitchy and I ended up having to log into the account most of the time to run through the programs, I also struggled to start new programs in which I contacted Centr customer services & again they weren’t much help! (The programs themselves I liked but the App & customer services are rubbish)
I think if you contact them within 48hrs of realising that the money has been taken they should honour a refund because you are obviously not going to using their product.
I’m now £93 down! Shame on Centr.
Also please don’t reply to me stating it’s clear in the T&C’s because it obviously isn’t as so many people have had this problem.

The app is not great and very pricey - CS is bad - they have no morale nor ethic.
The app is not great and very pricey. I would not recommend it as the content is not worth paying for. I learned about it because I did some training with a friend also using the free trial. I think there are other apps for training (Freeletics, Nike Training Club), Meditation (headSpace and calm) and yoga (DownDog) that are 10x better.
What makes this company and service so terrible is their immoral Customer Support. They ignore 50% of my emails, stop answering when they are not pleased, send the same template answer time after time. They make it so hard to cancel, and when you realised you had been charge, there is absolutely NO way to get reimbursed. After the end of my not-used free trial, I emailed them and was very frank. "You can look in my profile. I have NOT used your app a single time in the last month. I forget to cancel my free trial. I contacted you as soon as I have seen the charge on my credit card. This is a mistake on my side; I forgot to cancel it on time. Could you please reimburse me? I didn't use it, and I am not planning to use it anymore" and from there dozens of emails without any help. Their policy "it's written that we don't do reimbursement". I tried to argue on common sense "Look, I never used the app - don't plan to use it in the future. I am not happy with it, and if I paid, I would ask for reimbursement because I don't think it's worth paying. Now, what is the value for you to have an unhappy customer who is not happy about your product, not using and don't want to pay for it and is charged anyway". The app is about mental health and well-being but is only about squeezing money out of you, answering you poorly, and treating you like poo. It's hard for me to see a company that treats their customer with that much disdain to succeed in the future but let's see. From what you can read online in Google and the review, they have turned almost all of their users into detractors.

Signed up for a trial, tried to cancel before expiry but still charged $119
Signed up for a trial, and went to cancel it 2 days prior to expiry as I won't use it. I was logged in and when I went to the subscription section, it kept asking me to log back in but me details didn't work. I tried multiple times to reset my password but nothing came through. I tried this for 2 days, and then they took $119 out of my account so I emailed them and explained the issue in detail. You have now refused to refund me $119 which is awful, despite me explaining the situation multiple times. It is down to your error that I could not cancel, not mine.
