Extremely frustrating and exhausting experience – avoid if you value your time
I spent three full days trying to complete a Code Signing renewal with Certum, and the experience was nothing short of bureaucratic chaos.
What should have been a straightforward renewal turned into an endless loop of emails, contradictory instructions, and ever-changing documentation requirements. I was repeatedly asked to provide additional documents, clarifications, and invoices, only to be told afterward that what I had already submitted was still “not clear enough”.
At some point, it genuinely felt like I had to prove that I am not a criminal, despite being an existing customer, having paid in full, and having already passed identity and business verification.
The EV Code Signing process in particular seems completely disconnected from reality. Unless you have a legal department and an accounting office on standby, expect to lose days of productivity answering compliance questions that make little practical sense for a real, operating business.
This is not about security; it is about poor process design and lack of respect for the customer’s time.
I strongly recommend that developers and small businesses think twice before choosing Certum, especially for EV Code Signing. What you save in price, you will pay many times over in stress, lost time, and frustration.
This was one of the most draining B2B service experiences I have had in years.
