Finally a removals company that gets…

Finally a removals company that gets the job done without complaining.

After many moves in the past 5 years we feared to go through this process again.
Everytime we got unprofessional house removals companies that seemed to find reasons not to do the job.

We succeeded with Changing Keys in the end. Move was difficult but the team worked on a top standard. Price was affordable and always responsive by emails and phone.

We wpuld use this company again and would encourage anyone to use them. Special thanks to Dylan and Alan for their hard work. We used them 2 times and both times they were a delight.

Efficient service

Efficient service,prompt and arrived on time. Movers handled all my furniture and household items very carefully and completed the move within the stipulated time.

Worst. Day. Ever.

I had looked at the reviews for this company before booking them. Sadly, our experience was far from positive. They only sent 3 men to do the move, despite invoicing us for a 4-man team. (On the day, they said that they had made the decision that our job only needed 3 men. When we ended up in dispute, they claimed the absence was due to 'Covid'... They also said that their invoice is for 'guidance' only. Not the money bit, though!) I told them that our long move (London to a storage unit in Swansea, as our house purchase was held up) couldn't be done by just three men quickly enough to arrive in Swansea on time - particularly since the team arrived late. (8-9am start time; didn't get going until 9.30.) At this point, the guy who makes all the arrangements denied having any knowledge of the closing time of the storage unit, but still insisted they would be there on time and wouldn't need four men. Throughout the day, we had a number of tense exchanges, and at every point I was admonished for not having given X piece of vital information. I had relied on these so-called professionals to plan the job properly, yet here they were claiming that I had not given them information necessary for them to do the job. It didn't stop them from quoting for it! (Also, there is no record in our extensive communications of them asking for this information, or of me failing to provide it. Apparently, I was asked 'several times' over the phone and failed to answer...)

Anyway, they didn't get to Swansea on time and storage unit closed. It was then that they demanded an additional payment of £975 to stay overnight, or they would dump our stuff in the street or drive it back to London. They justified this by saying they would miss out on two jobs back in London the next day. So potential customers take note: not only might you receive this disorganised treatment on your big stressful day, you might run the risk of having Changing Keys not show up at all because they screwed up elsewhere the day before! The most unpleasant part was being constantly made to feel like we were responsible for the whole mess.

Also worth noting: they didn't provide enough boxes, but were 20 short on their estimate. Nor did they provide any coverings for our mattresses as they promised to do in their invoice. (But remember, that's just for 'guidance'...) When I complained they might get dirty or damp, they suggested I take that up with the storage providers.

I tried reasoning with Changing Keys the next day, but they insisted that the whole thing was entirely my fault and were saddened by my response as they had seriously considered dumping my stuff in the street and felt that they had 'done me a favour' by charging me almost £1000 extra.

I await the gaslighting response from Changing Keys, where they repeat their insistence that I am to blame for their failure to plan the day properly, or to execute it in accordance with their own invoice.

Hope you're well. As you can imagine we understand that you are upset about us taking a additional £975.00 for your move...The only reason why you were charged extra is because we had to keep our team members with no planning overnight in Swansea.

The reality is that we asked you more than once to provide details about the delivery and we only received them around 1 pm on moving day. For a removals company to find out on moving day around 1pm that we have to deliver the items by 7pm on a 4 hour + journey is unacceptable.

Our start time was clearly stated, team members arrive between 8-10 am. And regarding the missing team member we understand your point however our point was clearly stated and we cannot make any exception during these times. If one of our team members calls in sick with a small chance of him having COVID he is within his legal rights to stay home.

You were quoted £2,101.00 for your move to Swansea and to avoid upsetting you, we did not charge another £2,101.00 for keeping the vans stuck overnight in Swansea and we charged you half to cover cost of gas, hotel for team members. So when we said we helped you, we meant it.

A well earned five stars and a definite recommendation

We used Changing Keys for our house move right at the end of Sept. Our buyers were desperate to complete before the end of Sept but issues with their solicitors, and the general panic caused by the end of the Stamp Duty holiday had meant we ended up with almost no time between exchange and completion so the move was late in planning and more than a little fraught. Cosmin was just brilliant - completely understanding and sensitive to our predicament. The online assessment was easy to arrange and the estimate more than reasonable. Cosmin supplied packing materials as quickly as he reasonably could and was always contactable - even out of usual office hours. (The only caveat here was that we both underestimated how many books we had and we needed more boxes than the original estimate suggested.)

On the day of the move Dillon and his team again were first class. They were quick, thorough, careful, friendly and also sensitive to the stressful nature of the day. They also came with plenty of extra packing materials. I hadn’t expected that they would take the beds apart and reassemble them at our new home - a neat touch. Given that we hadn’t heard of them prior to our desperate last minute searching of the internet, I had been a little anxious. There had been no need. I have no intention of moving house again in the near future but if I needed to I would certainly look them up again and would happily recommend them.

I had contacted a few removal companies…

I had contacted a few removal companies in order to get quotes. Changing Keys were the most competitive. Once contact was made with them, the whole experience was very positive. Excellent communication with Cosmin and to keep in touch via WhatsApp made the process even easier. He was very helpful in ensuring that the boxes arrived in good time and was responsive to any questions I had.

On the day of the move, several guys had arrived at my property on time. They were very friendly and accommodating. They worked very fast in clearing a three bedroom house and did not stop for a break. All boxes and white goods were removed in an efficient manner with no damage caused.

They were very efficient in moving the goods and placing the boxes in the appropriate rooms. All beds were put together quickly.

Overall a very positive experience and thoroughly recommended.

Ash excellent service

Ash excellent service, on time, polite and very quick service with a great team. Took all furniture apart and put it back together offered to do much more. Ash is very efficient and I highly recommend him for anyone moving house and home to anywhere in the UK. A great service will use again in the future. 👍👍

Fantastic service and very competitive.

We had a great experience with changing keys. Cosmin and the team on the day were brilliant. We had a long delay of 3 months from selling to exchanging with move dates changing often and right up to the day of the move. Cosmin stayed patient and understanding throughout which helped us immensely. On the day the team were very quick, respectful and friendly and made the move seamlessly from our old london address of 28 years to our new home in margate. I will highly recommend 👌.

Changing Keys were great

Changing Keys were great! The movers were very careful (no dents/bumps/scratches) and helpful and friendly.
The pre-process was slightly less smooth, as the number of boxes required was underestimated, which led to an expedited extra delivery of boxes.
Overall great service, though.

Very impressed with Changing Keys

Very impressed with Changing Keys! I can honestly say, we are happy with every aspect of the service they provided. From the first video call, right to the end (moving date) they were professional, honest, polite and very hard working. Not even one item has been damaged, which is incredible achievement, as we had a 5 bedroom house to move. So if you’re looking for a reliable removal company, don’t hesitate to contact Changing Keys, they won’t disappoint!

Cosmin was super helpful all the way through, very reassuring whenever I got worried about our move. On the day the team were incredibly fast and respectful. We had a tricky move into a smaller house but they managed everything even in tight spots! Thank you!

Moving a 3 bedroom house to another…

Moving a 3 bedroom house to another country wasn't easy and the prices we received from other companies were just absurd. We have chosen Changing Keys at last minute and we received nice services.

Awful, AVOID!

Awful, avoid. Completely unprofessional at all points.

We paid for packers who arrived several hours late and then failed to pack a large amount of items.

Removal men were unprofessional, did not cover any of our furniture in the van and we have lots of damage. They have smashed the corner of our antique room divider and there are many terrible scratches on our dining table, wardrobes and drinks cabinet. They denied causing the damage, became aggressive about it on the day, and our formal claim for compensation was been met with 'you applied too late' despite it only being about 2 months later. Cosmin will not qive us the name of the insurance company that is supposedly denying our claim. Do they even have insurance? We have been told someone 'in house' will come and repair the scratches which we are not comfortable with.

They also had refused to unload the vans until we had paid the balance (while we were still unaware of the damage caused).

Very disappointed and do not wish this to happen to anyone else!

Your move happened in June and we got notified of the damages one month later this is why we cannot fully cover the damages and came up with a very generous offer to repair your items on our own cost.

Payment needs to be completed one day before or latest on the day of the move when the team arrives and starts the job so you were late on payment 1 day and 12 hours this is why we refused to unload the items (not because we didn't want you to see the damages).

From our point of view, we are very sorry that your damages happen even though they were minor and could have been repaired very easily by our team however your claim for insurance was not successful simply because you notified us of the damages a month later and this only happened by a bad review directly. So you never contacted us to claim for the damages. We reached out after you left a bad review to help and make it right. Please note that we did try to help and you accepted our offer but never responded to make a appointment for our team to come and repair the items.


Although we feel bad that you had damages on your move, all of our clients who had damages and reported them in the required time got fully refunded for the value of the items the items so we hope next time when you move, you read carefully through the contracts about your rights and don't damage the image of a company because "you weren't aware that you could claim".

We had packed everything including fragile items in many boxes and left larger items to be packed on the day
Crew loaded everything taking care and moved to appropriate rooms
They did take care of fragile items and plants etc and did an efficient job
Satisfied with the work and the competitive price too

Unprofessional service

Very very poor service! They used permanent marker on our furniture which will not come off. They were very pushy in terms of paying upfront which other companies didn’t do. I would definitely not recommend this company as they will not accept responsibility for damaging our furniture. We are extremely disappointed. Do not use this company, unprofessional!

Update:
1. Even though we were travelling at the time, we managed to pay you a day before the move as you made it very clear that the funds had to be cleared by 5pm for the vans to be released. We never refused to respect the contract and did not make a late payment so what you have said is untrue.

2. As discussed on the phone, even though the damages seem very very minor to you, these are our personal possessions that your team have treated with no respect. We were only 3 days out of the timeframe, and as mentioned on the call, we only submitted these pictures late due to travelling and managing a newborn baby which I’m sure you can understand is an extremely busy and stressful time.

3. We never spoke on the day of the move so I’m not sure where you got the information from that I was “extremely happy with your services”.

4. My review is accurate and my opinion of how I feel your company have dealt with the situation which I believe is unprofessional.

Your review is not true, if you check T&C's, we take payment one day before the move or latest on the day when the team arrives and starts the job. It was your party who made things awkward because you refused to respect our contract and made things very uncomfortable when making late payment. (please check contract).

Also, regarding your very, very minor damages that can be easily resolved with minimum effort or skill. There is only one reason why we cannot take responsibility and that is because they were submitted late out of the time frame that our contract allows us to help clients. Otherwise we would have resolved your problems in a very fast manner as we do for all our clients.

Regarding services provided, you were extremely happy with our services when we spoke on the days of the move wich makes us feel that your review of our company is simply left at a moment when you are upset.

Because you neglected to read and respect our agreement we simply cannot help. Please know that untruthful reviews that bring a financial impact to our company may result in other actions.

1. Payment needs to be cleared one day before or latest on the day of the move when the team arrives and starts the job. Packing the house counts as "starting the job" so payment was late one day and between 8-10 hours (we avoided to charge you late payment fees). Our records state that 2 calls were made for the payment to be completed and only on the third call when we were closing office and had to assign resources for the next day, barely before 5, the payment was completed.

2. We understand that the permanent markers stains on white furniture is upsetting but they count as very minor damages that can be resolved with minimum time and skill. The only reason we cannot resolve your issue is because you were late in submitting the minor damages.

3. After having a back and forth discussion we are sure that we offered great service since we haven't hear any negative feedback until we refused to help with your markings and this is why we believe your review of our company is unjust.

4. Being the first review of 1 star that we received we do not value your opinion because you are failing to understand that the resolution of this situation would have been entirely beneficial for you if you would have submitted your case in time.
