Consumers are always at risk when buying used or refurbished property; a CheckMEND search before you buy can help you avoid a nasty surprise later. A CheckMEND report will alert whoever performed the search (retailers, corporations, insurers, police or members of the public) to the item’s history and status. You may purchase a used item that works for months or years, but when you try to sell it to a responsible trader, their check with us shows it was stolen before you bought it. In the unlikely event that a record reported to us is incorrect, we provide full support to resolve it with the provider. Do not trust.
Sold my phone to mazuma and they said the phone was reported stolen to police. You cannot phone these cowboys to correct this and when I called the police they have no record of it being reported as stolen.
I also question the legitimacy of the trust pilot rating they have. I am no mathematician but if said company had 80% 5 star reviews and 20% 1 star then naturally their reviews would be 4 star, yet they have only 69% 5 star 20% 1 star and some in between so this rating should be 3 point something rating and another case of trust pilot allowing criminals to hide behind this site as being trustworthy when they really aren’t

Phone Fraudulently Reported as Stolen – Need Resolution
Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other reviewers—this appears to be a scam. I was attempting to trade in my phone at the Apple Store when I was informed that it has been flagged as stolen/lost by CheckMEND, which is preventing the trade-in.
I contacted CheckMEND, I have proof of purchase, the box, and the phone itself, but they were unhelpful and sent me around in circles. This situation is causing significant stress for me.
I purchased this phone directly from the official Apple Store, not from a third-party or questionable source.
This phone has never been reported as lost or stolen, and I believe there is an error with the IMEI number.
Who gives CheckMEND the authority to mark my phone as stolen when I’m the original owner with proof of purchase that includes all my details? This seems to be either a serious error with the IMEI or a fraudulent claim, and I need this resolved as soon as possible.

I'm sorry this has been a stressful situation for you but CheckMend doesn't create block records nor do we have any authority to add or remove them so please be assured it didn't come from us.
The Apple store may have referred the situation to us to look into so we can find out where the block came from. The block would have been done by another company, typically an network operator.
