Chef Akila’s Slow-Cooked Curries Avis

Excellent tasty food just like home cooking.

I’ve just sent in my second order. I couldn’t be happier with the first one and it’s a bonus that there are no seed oils in it. The curries are delicious and definitely larger than any you’d buy in a supermarket.
Delivery was great and on time.

Easy to order. Great communication about delivery. Prompt delivery.
Generous portions. Beautiful meat and ingredients.
Unfortunately we are not huge fans of asafoetida which all three dishes had quite a lot of.
Do you have any dishes that do not contain asafoetida? I appreciate that it is standard in most Hindu cooking but as a non Hindu, I have unfortunately not acquired a taste for it.

Absolutely delightful.
Great tasting food, sensible prices and brilliant packaging.

The food is delicious and good value for money. The delivery and packaging were as promised.

Perfect flavours, tasty, slow cooked, sizeable meat portions. I am Anglo Indian, 72 and disabled. I can no longer stand long enough to cook. These meals are a perfect substitute for home cooked. I have finally found the right solution for our needs. Great quality and the perfect delivery service. Thank you.

These meals are the freshest and most authentic I ve experienced outside of India itself a country I ve visited a few times .So convenient and well made I would recommend these meals to anyone .

I love to have my extra fridge full of these curries . Great for stress free entertaining or for unexpected guests. I have loved everything I have ever bought from this company

I didn’t find the curries very spicy

It's was really good only quantity is less.worth buying.

Authentic taste Not oily

Lovely fresh curries. Love the idea of arriving fresh and mostly microwaveable for convenience.. I’ve had two deliveries so far. I do feel they are expensive although the packaging and box they arrive in is excellent quality. There are lots yet for me to try. My favourite so far is the chicken biryanis. The village curry was tasteless and was extremely mild.. I will say it’s extremely generous with meat in all dishes. Il continue to order in the future

The description of authentic food provided online is correct in one sense, but, totallyi misleading in another.

By this I mean that thete is no doubt about the quality of the ingredients - It id about how they are combined together which changes the texture and individual nuances of individual flavours.

Essentislly, all three meat dishes ( 2 x chicken, 1 x Lamb) consist of equally sized cubes of meat which are incorporated into a thickish 'soup - like" mixture. The odd spartan slither of onion was included.

This means all ingredients were at some point blitzed in a food processor, no doubt for the reason they defrost at the same time - and at a faster rate than the larger frozen meat cubes when cooked for the 40 - 45 ninutes in the oven at home.

The taste was that of a blended mixture with no variation of flavour notes ot texture - other than the isolsted 'icebergs' ', of meat.

This is clearly an adaption made for frozen food for home delivery. The spices were under scored and lost in freezing which took any taste or smell aromas from the dish.

Frankly, I was disappointed, and would rather buy and freeze a Waitrose or Marks & Spencer Curry which in my view are more authentic.

For this reason I could not justify another purchase.

the food is the best indian l have tasted since holidaying in Goa genuine flavours spicy but not burning hot
quality meat no more takeaway after this
l have recommended to all my friends
fast efficient delivery

The food quality is good but they have competition on line. Some of the competitors produce good food as well and some are cheaper.

The meals are fabulous
