I wanted a gold subscription, paid for this and signed up. It didn’t change from trial. I contacted support, and the ai chat bot said we will respond between 1 and 3 days. It did not. I complained, I complained in chess.com. The same ai chat bot kept the messages and ignored it. No gold account for my granddaughter, no gold account for me the guardian, that’s promised in the benefits page, my 5 year old very disappointed that she can’t change the avatars cloths or her name. Upset with chess in my iPhone. I sent loads of follow ups, all ignored and no ability to call or email a human. So I cancel - it gives me a standard line sorry you are leaving please contact the membership to see if we can help - , which I click and it sends me back to the same ai chat box with all my unanswered messages in. Not one response other than the initial

My feedback to chess.com and ChessKid.com is you get some humans back working for
You to deal with this. If someone cancels a golden rule is send them to a human to deal
With it, not the same rubbish support service. It’s no wonder you have so many negatives about exactly the same issue. That’s a lot of money lost and a lot of bad will against chess.com.
It seems from this list of people and your lack of responses that you do not care. Which is not a good look for an organization.

I recently signed up to Chess.com for myself as getting back into chess after introducing the game to my son. I signed up the to Premium version so I can go ad-free and enjoy all the added features. Which is going well.

However, my son also wanted some of the action, so signed him up to ChessKid, which is owned by Chess.com. I signed him up, and selected the annual subscription so he could enjoy the 7-day free trial. He likes the app and it works well.

But then I heard that Chess.com Premium subscribers like myself can get 40% ChessKid subscriptions! Great! My son was still using the free trial and I hadn't yet been billed for the annual subscription. I got in touch with them to ask how I go about using this discount. After much waiting, they finally got back to me and provided a link. But the discount won't work because it says he already has a subscription. Was advised to cancel the free trial and cancel the subscription, which I had done. But the discount still won't work!

Tried again today and still doesn't work. Says he has an active subscription, but when I click to view the "current" subscription it says it expired yesterday.

Added to this, they keep emailing me to to sign up as a parent on ChessKid, even though I already did this. It turns out that I can't use the same email address as my Chess.com account! I'm unable to change the email address linked to my son's ChessKid account.

I keep telling them all this on the chat function, but the responses are painfully slow and unhelpful. My son current;y doesn't have an active subscription, and has used the free trial and can't see how to resolve this.

ChessKid is lovely idea, and the app works well, but the customer service from both ChessKid and Chess.com is appalling. Too slow and not helpful. Chess.com has around 1.5 million paying member so they're not short of money to spend on more customer service agents! Experiences like this are ruining what are otherwise good apps. Please fix up!

I want to cancel it, but I can't access my account anymore because I keep getting a message saying my username is incorrect, even though I'm entering the correct one from the payment order. I still can't log in even after resetting my password. No one from customer support is responding. I've been trying for weeks because I don't want to keep paying for the next few years.

Its so annoying, its so bad, it literally terrible

The kids loved to play but forgot the password. A reset is impossible, I get always redirected to the login page. The customer service doesn't answer, I tried it multiple times. So we can't use it but still pay for it. That's scam!

explanation :if you get one of the puzzles wrong t finish the daily task, think won't think you finished it, even if you retried and got it correct. The only way to not let this happen is to buy the gold membership.

If you want to cheat, chesskid is the perfect place. This site is filled with adults cheating instead of kids trying to learn chess. The lack of an easy report button like on chess.com makes this a safe haven for cheaters. I would not recommend this website. You'll see, as soon as you reach around 1300 elo, you will not have 3 games in a row without coming across someone using an engine.

Some people use their engine for the most part of the game, some only turn it on in the endgame to suddenly play an endgame like Magnus Carlsen. Some use it for only 1-2 moves, but those moves are crucial.

Conclusion: STAY AWAY FROM CHESSKID.COM

This is a horrible game, when I wish to review a game in which I won, the game review refused to even load and even refused to even show accurate responses. Pulled off a brilliant move on chess.com by sacrificing the bishop for checkmate and it was a blunder on chess.com, these 2 are very different and I don't recommend this game.

So sad because my son has used this site since lockdown. He’s finally grown out of it and I’ve come to cancel the subscription and been charged nevertheless. Contacted them a week ago and had no reply. Tried again, still nothing. Just sad because this once was a really great site.

My board disappeared when I tried to play with an account but when I played without an account It made me Sign in so FIX IT

Made such a terrible system where i cant make an account for my kid easily and let him play. Such a complicated website. Trying last hour to start a game but it wont.

CC Fraud. I have been dealing with them for almost a month letting them know that I never solicited their service. They continue to give me the run around and won't issue me my credit.

Sharing this and hoping to help anyone who is thinking about buying their gold membership. As a paid customer, my account got disabled all of sudden without any explanation. Contacted support immediately, and haven’t heard back until 5 days later, but the support engineer had looked at a wrong account and responded with no issue found and the account is not on gold membership. I replied and pointed out that mistake, and re-highlighted the account name. It’s been days and I haven’t heard anything back from the customer support. I don’t even know if I could get my account back at this moment. For all these days we are unable to use the app, and we have already paid the subscription for one year! I would not recommend this app, and if you are thinking about buying their membership, please be aware of what you would get from their customer service and waste your money.

Chess is a universal game loved so much by so many, and as a result, I was quickly enticed into its riveting features and mechanics that I had never seen before at a young age. As I entered high school, I decided to form my first chess account on Chesskid, as more capable sites such as Lichess and Chess.com were blocked by my school's administration. Nevertheless, I quickly started playing games, working up my Elo to a solid, but not great, 1304 against fairly rated players. Here, it fell downhill. I soon discovered here that a majority of these players around my Elo were using engines when playing games.

It's unnecessarily difficult to cancel the membership, and it's obvious that they make it hard only for profit, which is unacceptable for an app, especially for children. I won't subscribe anymore.

useless website, bots either play at child level or expert, there is no way for casual players to just have a game

I deeply appreciate ChessKid as one very user friendly, having great lessons and their sequence, and their efforts to improve the website.

However, I am really disappointed that the recent ChessKid updates has caused 4 problems:

(1) While reviewing, you cannot see the video of Great Master Mike. If you wish to see the video, then redo the whole lesson!!!

(2) In a lesson, one cannot pick a topic for review, he is forced to go through all the previous topics. For example, I wish to review topic number 8 in King Lesson 1, then I cannot pick topic 8, I have to go through the lengthy steps of all the previous topics 1 to 7.

(3) While reviewing some of the topics, the last step of the last topic cannot be seen. For example, while reviewing the topic 5 in the Queen Lesson 9, just before the last step, the topic is closed and you are thrown to the list of the lessons.

(4) In all topics, you are allowed to go back one step only. If you go back to the 2nd step then you are thrown to a list of the lessons.

I trust these issues will be resolved soon.

I have experienced the same frustration with Chess for Kids. They auto renewed my subscription without my consent. I finally managed to cancel it on the day they auto renewed for the yearly subscription but now I’m stuck with it for a year and they refused to reimburse me! I am being charged for something I don’t want and won’t even be using! Ugh! Avoid downloading and beware!

Impossible to cancel subscription - tried the app, it is glitchy and rubbish. It is going to deduct £49.99 from my account tomorrow and there is no way to cancel it and no way to contact them. A massive scam.

I'm a tech savvy guy but ChessKid makes it absolutely impossible to cancel the auto-renewal of your membership. I don't even think it's legal. Just give me the option to CANCEL without spending hours trying to find it with no success. Then you contact customer support and it takes days for them to get back. If I had more money I'd definitely sue them.
