Great food but journey cut short
The booking process was excellent and efficient.
The staff were welcoming on arrival.
The food was lovely.
The service was not of the standard I had received previously only asking once if we required another drink on a two hour journey.
The train was unable to take us on the full journey and had to return to Frogall.
I understand that this could occur with old trains but disappointed that this was not announced on the train to let us know what was happening , also could there have been an option for the diesel train to replace it and continue the journey?
Having said that I would travel again as I have travelled many times and this was the first time that the train hadn’t made the full journey.

However, we are very sorry that the onboard experience fell short of our usual standards. We apologize that the drink service was not as attentive as it should have been on a two-hour journey, and that a mechanical issue prevented the train from completing its full route. While our heritage locomotives are meticulously maintained, unexpected technical faults can occasionally occur. We completely agree that a timely announcement should have been made over the speaker system to keep you informed, and we are addressing this lapse in communication with our train crew. Regarding your question about a replacement locomotive, substituting a diesel engine during an active journey unfortunately depends on real-time track availability, safety regulations, and locomotive positioning, which is why it is not always operationally feasible at short notice. We are incredibly grateful for your understanding and your reassuring note that you will travel with us again. We look forward to welcoming you back on board for the seamless, high-quality journey you have rightly come to expect from us.

Midweek lunch
The food was exceptional
The service was excellent
The only downside was the actual train journey, it was shortened because of a problem with the train not being able to reach the intended final destination and then there was a engine problem which caused the train to stop

mexican dining experience
We did the mexican dining experience as a birthday treat. Lovely, friendly staff . Food good, well presented but desert a little uninspiring . Good range of drinks. Plenty of parking. Would definitely do it again.

Train experience
The food was amazing. The staff were lovely, friendly and very good service 10/10.
Unfortunately there was a problem with the trains valve system so we didn’t complete even one half of the journey. We stopped to eat our main course half in a tunnel so not the picturesque view we were expecting. We were told to get off the train and had to take our cheese and biscuits home with us . I understand things happen but it did without a doubt spoil our experience.

Train broke down after a mile, food was missed and the staff refused to give a refund.

Fish and Chip Train 🚂
We had a lovely evening in the Fish and Chip train yesterday. The food was delicious, served from a fish and chip van prior to getting in the train and then we watched the train arrive which was brilliant. I would highly recommend this trip and it was great value for money 💰

What a lovely nostalgic morning spent…
What a lovely nostalgic morning spent on the Churnet Valley Railway. We purchased the "standard travel' tickets which allows us to travel to the end of the line and back again.
With hindsight, we should have purchased, for a few extra pounds, the "rover" ticket. This allows so much more options to get on and off at the different stations.
We would probably do this next time. All the staff are a bunch of lovely people who are pleased to make your visit enjoyable.

Wonderful evening.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The locomotive and carriages were beautifully maintained and the cost of our spud and steam trip was very reasonable. Thoroughly recommended.

The staff were amazing but the train…
The staff were amazing but the train couldn't make it up the hill and we seemed to just sit on a motionless train for ages. Not the best experience
