This is what a proper insurance broker should be. If you have a problem they are set up to help you with years of experience. We had a problem yesterday. City were generous with advice and help above the call of duty. Great for years on our motor policies. Forget all the on line providers where I am not sure whether you ever know whether it was cheaper. And you never talk to the same person. I would make City my first port of call..

Worst company ever had £190 last week to change insurance to a different car now want
£111 again to swap and another £100 odd for the new car disgusting how these people can get away with it so £401 in a month to change reg what a joke quoted me £92 for my new car when I got it for £42 for confused .com

A company that is very easy to deal with, friendly and efficient.

In this occasion City Insurance could not provide me with my requirements at a competitive price and did not get any refunds for cancelled insurance

Great service at the beginning. Thankfully i have not needed to call them since. The process was quick and easy. A representative called me soon after who was very open and honest and provided me with all the information i needed. Reasonably priced

I received an email in advance advising me of the upcoming renewal date. My payment was accepted swiftly and smoothly and my renewal documents were dispatched to my home address.

I received the utmost courteous attention at all times. Many thanks.

Be careful of this company, they give a good quote and then change it once you've accepted it.We had a quote of £275 from them. After filling in all the details of accident history etc, this went up to £325 which we accepted and paid. Two days later they rang saying the accident details we'd put in were wrong and we'd put 'no fault' for an accident. We hadn't and had put in the cost of repairs to both vehicles involved, however, these details didn't show up on the policy, but must have shown up somewhere for the original quote to increase in price. They then wanted us to pay double what we'd been quoted, which was well over £600.
We declined to accept this as it was vastly over quotes from our current insurer and others. We requested a refund, which we got but they took off a £50 cancellation fee,so for two days insurance with them we paid £50.
I would be very careful about using this company, I did feel at the time of filling in their online form that information I was entering wasn't being saved.
I should have listened to my instincts and gone elsewhere.

I feel like I have been robbed by these people. I was insured with them for little over a month and when i changed my vehicle I was hoping to carry it over as on their website they claimed it would most likely be no extra cost. When I phoned they said I’d have to pay an extra £300 to insure my new car which is outrageous. I was then told that if I was to cancel I’d get only £100 back when I paid £290 just a month ago. Every other company I’ve been with take just £50 off which is fair enough but losing £190 after just a month is just robbery and on top of that I have to wait about a month to get the refund. This is not how you build a reputable company. Extremely upset.

Daughter Purchased a new car 3 months into the insurance cover. Called city insurance for a price and was told it was a further £590 for the remaining 9 months, I even tried removing a couple of named drivers to see if it brought the price down, but did not. We really wanted to stay with City insurance but they were not competitive at all.

I was disgusted to be told they would take 15% of her remaining premium plus £75 as a cancellation fee!!

How can this be justified. We wanted to stay with you but you priced yourself out of the market, most likely knowing I either pay a high additional premium or pay a high exit fee. Most companies charge a month’s premium or similar to leave.

On top of this, they tried to refund me £50 less than I was due, and after querying they admitted it was an error.

In addition they have told me it will take 4-6 weeks to receive my daughters money back!! Are you kidding me. We live in a time of bacs transfers that take seconds.

I urge anyone to think twice about using this company. I for one will not go anywhere near them again and would rather pay a higher premium to their competitors than go with them.

Worst thing is it is my daughters money, kids already get fleeced for insurance and now you’ve taken a hefty sum from her.

Shame on you.

Brilliant company Josh made me litrally feel like I had my very own personal insurance broker. The lad litrally ran quote after quote give me advice on what I should be looking for from a insurance aspect when buying my vehicle, responding to my emails rapidly good work city insurance

Just phoned to renew my car insurance.
Phone answered by somebody who I felt didn’t want to be in their job and was miserable.
I gave Simon Bird my feedback who was very quick to shut me down with he has sinuses issues.
I commented that as a customer the call wasn’t friendly and felt like he didn’t want to be their.
His response was I wish I was a millionaire but I’m not’
Don’t we all wish this?
He is lucky to be in a job in the current climate and I felt his attitude was awful.
Will never renew with them again and feel I should phone up and cancel my insurance within the cooling period time.
A friendly call goes a long way and will make customers think you care.
What utter shambles...

Purchased insurance through price comparison site for £500. They phoned and said they couldn't offer insurance as I was only resident in the UK for 1 year but they could get me insurance from Aviva for £700. I said I would shop around. I found another company offering insurance for £600 so took out a policy with them.
One week later, they had charged me for the policy and were refusing to refund because I had never said I wanted to cancel!! As far as I understood, they were refusing to give me insurance and I never agreed to change to Aviva. Surely saying that you will shop around means that you don't want the policy! Very dishonest, unhelpful staff.

RESPONSE TO CITY INSURANCE:
I shouldn't have had to release personal, sensitive information to be given a refund. You are the ones that denied me insurance. Therefore, the refund should be automatic. I have better things to do with my time than get caught up in half hour phone debates and dig out documents to send you.

My verdict remains the same. I do NOT recommend City Insurance. They are dishonest. They are looking for loop holes to trap customers so they can charge admin fees and refuse refunds. Lookong through the reviews, this is a very common theme.

I bought a van insurance with City Insurance Group about two weeks ago, when requested, I sent them my proof on no claims discount, they informed me that I haven't included my previous windscreen claim and wanted additional premium of £74,96 to add that claim on!
I checked with other insurers and it worked out in region of £2, had no choice other than to cancel my policy, ended up being charged £78 exit fee, tough but at least they will not get anything else from me.
