The sizes are all over the place. I bought two pairs of trousers for the same size, and everything was fine. Then I got two more pairs a while later, same size, and got trousers that are WAY smaller than the previous ones. Their own tool even recommended this size.
And this is all made worse by the horrible return process for which I will also have to PAY. Absolutely ridiculous.
Sizing is odd and let down by incredibly slow customer service and returns process.
Was a big supporter of Community Clothing when they first started back in the day.
Ordered some items recently and have found that while the quality is still good, the sizing is odd, mostly too big. Normally not an issue with online retail but with CC who have a punitive 14 day return policy and very slow customer service to approve a return, it’s a hassle. The refund process is even slower.
Great British manufacturing let down by poor British customer service.
My first order of jeans and a t shirt, not only is all the packaging environmentally conscious but I can reuse it all, now the jeans, well the fit is perfect love the style and the quality of the materials used and how they look on me and the t shirt great quality not a bit see through lovely fit , will be ordering more just the right length
Jacket arrived promptly, that’s the good news. Now the bad. Popper on jacket (edit..second popper is missing now!) either had fallen off prior to delivery or first time I used it - whatever it’s gone! Sizing is also an issue, I take size L, this jacket is a bit too tight. Finally, finding it very hard to log on to return jacket. All in all, not a good experience, sorry.
Update: company got back to me straightaway, they are sending me a replacement coat. I was impressed with customer care, I’m glad because I wanted to buy from British company and support their ethical values.
I received my pair of corduroy trousers today and I am delighted. The fabric and workmanship are great and they are the perfect pair of autumn trousers. I have several items from Community Clothing and all have been of the best quality.
I treated myself to a peacoat and a pair of chore trousers for my birthday. They just arrived and fit perfectly. The quality is superb. I think these are the best items of clothing I've ever owned and I can tell they are made to last. Wonderful company doing great things.
Waited for months for a jacket to come back into stock, during the wait I clicked on the 'notify me when available' box. After several months I checked again to see if it was in stock and it was (no email from the notify system).
I am always an XL, have been in everything for years, and their online tool also said that I was an XL. The XL arrived and it was too small, then the real problems begin with their appalling returns process.
You can't just get an exchange for the next size up, oh no...you have to apply for them to accept a return, which takes several days, then send it to them, then wait while their returns department decide whether they will or will not refund you, then wait for the refund to be issued, then wait for the money to be credited back to your account. Only then can you order the next size up.
Despite all of this I did really like the jacket so I still went on to order the next size up, only to find...the next size up has sold out again.
Oh and by the way they don't refund the postage you pay for them to send it to you or the postage you pay to return it, and they take days to reply to emails.
Bit of a joke really, if you get the right size first time then you'll probably be fine, but God forbid you try it on and you need a different size, then your problems really begin.
This is a company who want the benefits of being an online retailer (no pesky stores with their costly overheads) but nor do they think they have any duty to manage the reality of being on online retailer.
This site doesn't work on iPhones, and when I contacted them about it for some assistance they told me it works on theirs and I should close the window and try again, nothing else.
Avoid there are better run companies out there nurturing the relationships between consumer and retailer.
Wanted to support British manufacturing but this company doesn’t seem to have the structure in place if anything goes wrong with a purchase. I purchased a pair of trousers that were faulty at the end of July and it has taken them until now to refund me. This isn’t difficult to sort but unfortunately I for one won’t be buying from them again.
Made a few orders now and am really happy to support British industry. Very happy with the socks and Norman Walsh trainers. Great quality. Underwear I am less happy with. I ordered trunks for my waist size, but there is absolutely no room in the seat and so they have come up tight and are quite uncomfortable to wear. The designers seem to assume wearers will have a completely flat rear. I haven't had this issue with M&S trunks in my size. Ideally I would love to see the company make a looser boxer short. I haven't ordered any other clothing as it is all a bit too hipsterish in aesthetic. I would also love to see the company produce some office wear (since this is what I wear 5 days a week!) - bring back the British made collared shirt.
The jeans I ordered were clearly of a good quality material, and CC dealt with some delivery issues promptly.
However, the sizing is way off and the lack of free returns meant I returned for a refund rather than trying a different size. I'm a 34" waist, but they were too tight and I'm a 32" inside leg, but they were at least four inches too long. I'm 6' tall, and have always been a 32" inside leg, so I'm wondering if these were a production error as four inches too long is quite a lot!
I'd have been happy to swap for another size, but having to pay for my own return - when it was CC's poor sizing at fault - meant I didn't want to risk a replacement not fitting either.
I like the ethos of the company and would have loved a pair of their jeans that fit, but I think I'll stick with Hebtroco for now.
Very happy with my latest Community Clothing order, including jeans, shirts and socks. Great quality, cut and fit. Thank you.
Love the idea and style of Community Clothing, and i've had some good stuff from them in the past. The socks (especially the sports socks) are the best socks i've ever had. However, it's gotten to a point where the hassle of trying things on to find they're grossly undersized (the Arthur chore coat chest size is at least 8 inches smaller than stated on the website), or oversized (such as the Bretons - although some of mine have then shrunk by at least one size on a cold wash, but not all, so you don't know which size to buy) or just weirdly proportioned, such as trousers, that the effort of returning, reordering in a new size or waiting for a refund, just becomes too much hassle. Also if you select one courier option, you may get another, cheaper option, as I found. Most recently, after returning nearly £400 of clothing, i've had to then chase it two weeks after it was showing as delivered back to them. Sorry, it's a real shame as i'll gladly pay for decent quality clothing that supports British industry, but the customer experience - and waste from clothing that ends up shrinking immediately and becomes unwearable - isn't worth it.
Purchased the fantastic Men's Joe Denim Jacket. Everything was absolutely spot on from the ordering, delivery and the product itself. The jacket is of exceptional quality and I will definitely be back to purchase more things. Give them a go
I bought one of the Breton tops which I was very pleased with. Seemed to be lovely quality, but the first time I washed it (according to the instructions) it shrank considerably. Pretty disappointed, really.
I ordered some trainers, which were of impressive quality, but unfortunately did not fit. The returns process was pretty painless and the customer support team were extremely prompt and helpful. I plan on re-ordering the same trainers in a size up and will definitely be buying more from Community Clothing in the future.
Lovely company with a great ethos. I recently had an order which I had to partly return. I was a little apprehensive as I had seen the return process can be difficult. In my experience the return process was good and the company refunded me very quickly.
Absolutely shocking returns process. As many others have testified the returns process is beyond a joke. You have to request a return and wait for it to be approved. I returned my parcel via Evri (never again) and there has been no update for almost three weeks. Community Clothing say they can't refund me and Evri are saying the retailer needs to make the refund. I seem to be in a Kafkaesque loop of bureaucratic incompetence no closer to receiving my refund of over £100. Avoid this company.
UPDATE:
To be fair to Community Clothing they did reach out to me privately and I have now received my refund. I think the fault really lays with Evri and how they administer returns to retailers, their level of customer service takes things to a whole new level of poor. My advice to anyone returning goods to Community Clothing is to avoid using Evri.

Very pleased to buy British. Appeared good quality and at a reasonable price. However, jeans and chinos both shrank in their first wash. And I’ve just noticed the fly button has frayed on the jeans. I can squeeze into the jeans but the other trousers are not comfortable anymore and will end up in the charity shop. The guidance suggests not to wash regularly however that doesn’t work for me!
Wool socks are amazing. Everything else is a crap shoot. Customer service is terrible. Linen dress poorly sewn. Women’s underwear quality rubbish. I keep trying to buy British and support local! Now seams coming apart on brand new £61 (each) sweatpants. I was conditionally offered a refund (great!) but I have to pay shipping and it’s vague. I suggested fixing them rather than discarding and a refund, nope, I’ll need to send a tailors receipt to get ‘some’ of it refunded. Giving up after this last experience and don’t recommend.
