Compare Holiday Money Avis 

I used this comparison website and it is a very useful tool for gauging who is offering the best rates. However, when I searched to sell Euros, Travel FX the company that was quite comfortably coming top with the best sell rate was in reality offering a higher less favourable rate on their own website.

The problem being that once I had clicked through to sell, and redirected to the company website, the better rate was mirrored. This led me to believe that I would be receiving that better rate. The rates obviously fluctuate, but beware, as the rate I finally received was the higher rate. To check this yourself clear your cache, history and cookies, and compare between the two sites.

I have communicated with both companies over email and sent screenshots from three different devices showing the two different rates, but I am left bemused that they are both still adamant that this is not the case. I even took screenshots as soon as my order rate was confirmed on the day, so I compared their rate and went back to check on the comparison website rate at that point in time.

I was left disappointed and feel that I lost out on money because of this, small percentage changes in rates might not seem like much, but they are when you exchange large amounts of money. Ironically the companies coming second, third, fourth and fifth on the comparison site would have offered me a better exchange rate!

I have used this website several times now to check out rates. You can get quite a bit more if you need lots of currency - thanks!

I used this company to buy currency with Camden FX. The money never arrived and I lost over £2,000.

They gave lots of reasons why it was not their fault. End of the day I only ever heard of the company via this site. If they had done the proper background checks it would have been obvious to anyone with a single brain cell that they were dodgy.

BE AWARE - lots of people were scammed last year by a company on this comparison site. Just because a company is on a comparison site does not make them legitimate, which many of us found out in a very expensive and distressing way last year. There is no support from the comparison site financially so you need to be careful and pay with a credit or debit card - do not under any circumstances pay directly via your bank - the banks generally wash their hands of it as it's your decision to pay!!!

I lost £1150 by using a site recommended by compare holiday money. Camdenfx had great reviews and the best exchange rate however myself and 70 others never received the holiday money we purchased and were stung to the tune of £90,000.
What did compare holiday money do to help us? Bugger all. They took no responsibility and offered the affected customers no help at all. I'm disgusted with them. I'd have never have heard of Camdenfx without their website.

Please do not use this website your money is not protected.

I and 70 other people were defrauded by a company on this website to the tune of £90,00. We never received our money. The man involved has been sentenced to 2.5 years prison.

However we have had no support from Compare Holiday Money who accept no liability then had the audacity to tell us they had lost money to in the scam. When people lost hundreds/thousands of holiday money days/weeks before travel that had to be replaced. We pursued the company - Camden FX directly with the fraud team, with no help at all from Compare Holiday money.

Why is a company allowing companies who insist on payment by bank transfer only to broker on their website knowing that their customers money is not protected?

All they care about is commission. Not customers.

We wrongly assumed our money was protected. It is Not.

Please avoid or collect from a physical store. It is not worth it.

Ordered my Thai Baht on the Monday and made the bacs payment.
I received an email saying the payment was in their account and that my money would be delivered on the Wednesday pre 1.30pm with a tracking number and the very next day that is exactly what happened so no complaints ! Good rate and good service!

Stitched up over currency dealing through to the tune off £1501.10 wouldn't touch them with a barge pole

I have discovered that suppliers are able to get negative reviews removed with no notification to, nor consultation with, the author of the review...

I sent leftover currency to COG having compared rates on Compare Holiday Money, using Royal Mail (whose logo is emblazoned all over COG's website) as advised by COG. This envelope mysteriously went "missing".

I attempted to contact COG 6 times and was ignored. So, I submitted 1 star reviews of COG Ltd twice and neither have been published. The second review was submitted after finally making contact with COG and after the investigation I instigated with Royal Mail had concluded. My second review stated categorically that the non-delivery of the envelope was a Royal Mail issue, but having been advised to use Royal Mail by COG, any failure of Royal Mail is an failure of COG's business model. Additionally, to be ignored 6 times shows there is a technology issue at COG.

Upon contacting Compare Holiday Money to find out why neither review had been published, I was told firstly that my review had been removed at the request of the supplier (COG) because the case was being investigated by them (not true; the only investigation was between me and Royal Mail). When I explained there was no investigation ongoing by COG (the money had not arrived, what is there to investigate) and asking why my second review had not been published, I was told (after chasing) that the supplier had asked that it not be published as negativity should be directed at Royal Mail. I had requested that I be notified before any review is removed or not published, this did not happen and I fully believe I would have heard no more if I had not chased.

OF COURSE I have directed negativity at Royal Mail, but the business model offered by COG doesn't work; it is too risky to send cash by post, regardless of any compensation offered by Royal Mail if it is "lost". This, and the troubles in contacting them are why I submitted a very fair 1 star review of COG.

This review website is a sham and clearly in collusion with the suppliers they introduce members of the public to. The fact that suppliers can get negative reviews removed so easily makes it completely worthless.

Never again will I use a comparison website for Travel money as Compare Holiday Money recommended Camdex FX on their site for money exchange. I am out of pocket £2000, yes £2000!!!! Doubt I will see that again and only found them on Compare Holiday Money website! Thanks for that!!!

CAMDEN FX - found through Compareholidaymoney, cut and run with over 40 peoples hard earned money. Compareholidaymoney who we all went through do not want to know, they will take no responsibiity for the losses and all have been left to fend for themselves. I am a lucky one, we have been refunded by our bank unlike others less fortunate. However, I feel strongly that conpareholidaymoney need to take action for the others affected. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, any problems and you are on your own regardless of the rubbish they put in their terms and conditions. BEWARE BUY YOUR CURRENCY FACE TO FACE IN BANKS/TRAVEL AGENTS ETC.

Recommended Camden FX ?????? Cheers for that that's a grand we will never get back

The exchange rate shown on their site is higher than the ACTUAL one, once you click through to the currency company, so you receive less currency than you were promised. This is deception.

Great help, excellent serivce and all went smoothly

We weighed up the good reviews against the few complaints and decided to use compareholidaymoney.com . Everything went according to plan and we received our holiday money in time for our trip. We would use the service again and can only assume that those who experienced problems either didn't leave enough time to have their currency delivered by Royal Mail or didn't follow the instructions properly.

Wonderful service from Travel FX. Ordered travel money on Thursday and it arrived Saturday by Royal Mail First Class Recorded Delivery.
I was unsure as I had to pay by direct bank transfer as they do not accept card payment, but it worked well and everything was fine despite my slight concerns. I actually received a better rate than shown on their site as they constantly update the exchange rates throughout the day & not just each morning like all the others. Best exchange rate for US Dollars on the day & will certainly use them again if their rates remain competitive.

I've used TravelFX twice now and both times the experience has been great. Highly recommended.

I have had a Terrible service!!!I ordered £1400 on Thursday29th and put down needed by Monday 3rd July, They said because the payment came from a joint account compliance needed to ok with the info I provided, But they don't work the weekend and the earliest will be Tuesday 4th July when I am in France, I could cancel and order with a real company like sterling who were great last time but they want to charge me £25 + 1% = £5 to cancel as they cannot fulfil they're side of the contract that we agreed? I asked to speak to a manager and Teresa refused several times and admitted that they are not regulated and basically can do what they want? I will have to email the manager and he will get back to me when he has time....actual words!!!

If they had rang me like Travelex did on a previous occasion on the Thursday I would have gave them the date of Birth and Address of my wife who we have a joint account at the Lloyds.

They behave like crooks and I do not think they should be trading? Rang them today and Alex said 121000 enquires/compliance in their inbox and they may get round to it today? they do not take direct calls (managers or Compliance) absolutely horrendous.

SO DON'T BELIEVE THE REVIEWS AS THEY ONLY PUT THE GOOD ONES ON AND LEAVE OFF THE BAD ONES!! TRADING STANDARDS NEXT I THINK?
