Bought a house with eco vision panels…

Bought a house with eco vision panels fitted
Contacted them, the panels and the system had not been checked in over a decade. Independent electrician advised turning them off due to a very high reading.
Engineer came out from ecovision, system is dangerous but not enough to turn off. Pigeon protection and a new board would be fitted asap, email confirmation will be with me asap. It's been over a week, no email, no replacement board to protect me and my family for the high reading from the solar. No protection to prevent the pigeons from nesting under the panels and blocking my drainage and causing other damage. 2a / Ng340nr

Hi Oliver. thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m really sorry for the worry and frustration this situation has caused, particularly where safety concerns have been raised.

To clarify our role, Ecovision acts as the maintenance provider on behalf of the system owner. We do not own the solar panels or the system itself, but we are responsible for attending reported issues and arranging remedial works where required, in line with the system owner’s instructions.

Following the engineer’s visit, the system was assessed and, while faults were identified, it was confirmed that it was not at a threshold requiring immediate shutdown. However, recommendations were made for remedial work.

In terms of next steps:

Pigeon mesh installation and panel cleaning are arranged through specialist contractors and currently have a lead time of approximately 8–12 weeks.

The recommended remedial works are being progressed through the appropriate channels with the system owner.

I have asked a member of our customer service team to contact you today to talk through the findings, current status, and next steps in more detail.

Stephanie Green was brilliant

This was the fourth time I had made contact with Ecovision who had reported that they needed access to my property to correct a fault and upgrade the system. The four stars all belong to Stephanie Green who was excellent in responding and organising the visit of their technician. She listened and immediately grasped the situation, responded very intelligently and confirmed the appointment by email. Ecovision, as an organisation, would have got five stars except it took me four calls to sort this matter out. Full marks to Stephanie Green!

Well not very impressed as appointment…

Well not very impressed as appointment was cancelled so many times. Nothing wrong with engineer when he came very polite and got on with the job . In all the numerous years I have had panels never been cleaned - Did report this and was told independent company would clean them. STILL WAITING !!!

I’m very sorry for the repeated appointment cancellations you experienced. On the first occasion, the appointment had to be cancelled due to the engineer being unexpectedly unavailable through illness. On the second occasion, the assigned engineer was no longer with the company, which regrettably resulted in further disruption. While these circumstances explain the changes, I fully appreciate how frustrating this was for you, and I apologise for the inconvenience caused.

I’m pleased to hear that when the appointment did go ahead, the attending engineer was polite, professional, and carried out the work as expected. We will ensure this feedback is passed on.

Regarding the pigeon mesh and panel cleaning, this has now been raised internally, and I have asked a member of our team to contact you directly by Monday 22 December to arrange both the pigeon mesh installation and the panel clean.

Poor Service

Company made two appointments and after staying in all day no one arrived on either occassion. Third appointment made and finally engineer arrived.

Great communication

Great communication, all the way through from initial booking to arrival of engineer. Engineer explained all work to be done and how long it would take was very quick and efficient.

Service Great - Company not so

The chap that came to do the work was excellent. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend Ecovision as a supplier. We have had next to no details of the systems output figures, or data to see what the system has ' saved ' us over the 20 years or so since it was installed.

We understand your disappointment regarding the lack of information on system savings. For the solar PV systems we manage, usage of the generated electricity within the home is not monitored, so we’re unable to calculate or report on how much energy has been used by the household or the financial savings achieved. The data available to us records total electricity generated by the system only, which we can provide, but this should not be interpreted as a measure of homeowner savings.

We appreciate that this may not meet expectations, particularly for older installations where monitoring capabilities were limited at the time. Thank you for sharing your experience and for highlighting an area where clearer communication is important.

Lovely bloke Chris K, Explained step by step what needed to be done, then got on with the job. Left no mess. Was prompt regarding his appointment time. Very polite. Everything you would want from an Engineer. Would have him back tomorrow 👍

Meter upgrade to 4G

A couple of hiccups actually getting an engineer here to upgrade meter to 4G, with cancellations and non appearance.
However the engineer John was fantastic. Punctual and very polite. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and thorough. I learnt more fom him about the solar system during his short visit than I ever knew. He can come again.

Recently had a letter for my mum next…

Recently had a letter for my mum next door! She passed away November 2022, yet your letter said you had spoken to her and she had failed to make an appointment! Can you imagine the distress that caused?

Tommy Barnes attended my property to…

Tommy Barnes attended my property to upgrade to 4G. He communicated his arrival time and was prompt, friendly and polite. He completed the work in a timely fashion and left my property tidy. He also checked that no remedial works were required before leaving. Great service from Tommy! Thank you

Awful company to deal with

One of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with. They seem totally shambolic. They make appointments and then don't bother to turn up, with no explanation at all. I took a day off work to be here for them.
Getting any kind of acknowledgement that that wasn't good was like pulling teeth.
They rearranged the appointment, then sent me another message telling me I need to contact them to arrange it again.
The appointment was finally fulfilled and the work done, then the very next day I get another message saying there's a fault that requires my 'immediate attention'.
Oddly enough, about a decade ago they were actually quite helpful, so I don't know what has gone wrong there.

Additional comment after message from Ecovision: So that's two automated alerts I had from Ecovision in the last month or so, both of which provided incorrect information and urged me to phone you as soon as possible to try to resolve. What is the point of that?
Incidentally, you may want to look into your email to me of 29 May 2025. We house shared with my mother in law who had the initial contract with you. Unfortunately she passed away..but even though I'd spoken to someone there and told them that, your email began 'Dear Mrs JS...(deceased)' etc..I have deleted her name and put initials instead. Really not acceptable.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback. I’m genuinely sorry for the inconvenience and frustration you experienced.

Taking time off work for an appointment that doesn’t go ahead is not acceptable, and I apologise that you did not receive a clear explanation or timely communication at the time. While missed appointments are rare, you should always be informed promptly if one needs to be rearranged.

I’m also very sorry for the distress caused by the incorrect salutation in our correspondence referring to your late mother-in-law. That should not have happened, and I understand why you found this unacceptable. Please accept our sincere apologies.

Regarding the automated alerts you received, we have recently implemented new technology to improve appointment reminders and system notifications. Unfortunately, in your case this resulted in incorrect automated messages being sent, which we recognise caused confusion rather than clarity. This is something we are actively reviewing and improving.

I can confirm that your system has been operating normally with no faults recorded since 8 December.

We do appreciate you highlighting these issues, and I have sent you a follow up email too.

Very friendly and professional

We have an engineer called John Dewen come to help us as our solar panels were not generating, he fixed the problem quickly and explained everything to me. He was also very good at accommodating keeping the doors closed as we have autistic children so it was helpful he was understanding with that.
