I had a WD Passport 5TB drive with work files, documents, drawings and more importantly family photos saved onto it. I tried elsewhere to recover the data and quickly realised it wasn't going to be as easy as I thought, not just as simple as taking the drive out of the cover and connecting a SATA cable, which I had done on an older drive previously, Fields diagnosed a serious issue with the drive but they offered me a method which was succesful and they recovered all of my data. An expensive lesson for sure , but if you have a drive that others cannot recover I would recommend Fields.

Fields Data Recovery - Exceeded expectations
I reached out to Fields Data Recovery as they were recommended to me by a colleague.
I had forgotten the password on a 1Tb external encrypted hard drive. I reached out the manufacture who stated that they could not do anything to help.
I explained my situation to Fields Data Recovery who informed me that they did have a very good success rate in getting in to hard drives and retreiving the data. I was a bit sceptical, as some of the reviews were positive and some negative. The data on the HDD were pictures and videos of my kids growing up.
I decided to take a chance and I can say that I am so glad I did. Fields Data Recovery sent a courier to my house to collect my HDD. They then managed to access the data within a few days, informed me that they had done so and sent me screen shots of the pictures. They then gave me the option to purchase a replacement HDD via Amazon and have it delivered to them, which I did. They then downloaded all the images and videos and returned they HDD to me via a courier. I was delighted when I had received the HDD and could access all the pictures and videos which I thought I would never see again.
The whole exercise was not cheap, however, it was a small price to pay to access the memories once again.
I highly recommend Fields Data Recovery. They were courteous and kept me informed throughout the entire process.

Rude and don't send the HD back
I showed some interest in getting my hard drive recovered. I got a phone call. I explained I might not be able to afford it. They told me to send it with no compromise at all. If I wasnt happy with the quote, they would send it back at no extra cost. I asked again on an email and they said it again.
I got the quote £700, I told them It was way too much.
I got a rude email back that at yhe end said they would send the HD back in 14 days with Royal mail.
I have sent them an email saying nothing has arrived yet and no response at all.

I contacted the folks at fields data recovery about a disk drive which was not working. They organised for it to be picked up by DHL and called me with an update with details of what is on the disk so I could determine whether I wanted to retrieve the contents. Everyone I dealt with were professional and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend them if you need to retrieve data from a disk drive which isn't working as these guys are not only pleasant to work with, they know what they are doing. Recommended.

I was very grateful for this help
I was very anxious when I seemed to lose over 4TB of data due to a USB external hard drive suddenly not working. Fields got it back for me. What a relief!
After examining the drive they said they couldn’t guarantee to get it all but were reasonably confident of getting the bulk of it. In the end the recovery was complete.
A moderately costly service perhaps but worth it to me!
