Had a external hdd fail on me, after going through alot of methods to try and recover the data personaly unsuccessfully, I decided to start looking at data recovery folks.

Filled out their survey one night to get an estimate, not expecting anything, but, to get an idea of price, later that day recived a call from a dan, seemed quite friendly, after a bit of back and forth about, the drive, its current predicement and my limited finacial situation, agreed to have a free pickup and analysis. Next day a dhl guy picked up the drive and a couple days later get an email saying they have the drive and its on the docket for analysis.

About a week later I get a call from dan saying sadly its platter damage and explaing what that is and why they cant repair or recover the data and agreed to have them despose of the drive.

I'm beyond pleased for something I didn't pay a penny for and while I acknowledge some of that could be luck with who I got the fella I spoke to seemed, helpful and sympathetic to my finacial situation.

I used Fields Data Recovery over a year ago, and I’m only writing this review now because I felt it was important to share my experience. Overall, I was disappointed by the service. I lost all my personal photos and videos spanning around five years of my life, which was incredibly upsetting, and I had hoped this company could help.

At the start, communication was good, and I felt optimistic given that I was quoted an 85% chance of success. However, once they had my hard drive, communication significantly decreased. I had to repeatedly reach out for updates, which made me feel like I was hassling them. Although regular updates were promised, I did not receive any unless I specifically asked.

They attempted data recovery twice, and both attempts failed, which I understand can happen. However, the lack of communication throughout, combined with receiving my hard drive back with no explanation or diagnostic report, made the experience extremely frustrating. I emailed twice requesting a written report so I could at least see what had been done, but I never received a response.

I ended up spending £720 with no results, and it felt as though my case was simply moved on from rather than handled with care.

This review isn’t about the fact that my data couldn’t be recovered — it’s about the poor communication and overall customer service. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future clients.

Spoke with a sales rep and explained what was wrong, he then sent me a rather high quote explaining the process, quite a lot higher than the online quote. I agreed to sending my USB off for the initial review. I then received a call informing me that they were confident and what the cost was. I then received an email with the costs and options and it did state that "While our team has a strong track record with similar cases, and we emphasize that while the likelihood of success is extremely promising, we cannot guarantee the retrieval of all data". When I read it was extremely promising, I thought, great and paid the quote and chose the 3 to 4 weeks turn around. About 4 weeks later I called the Rep but could not get to speak with him, so sent an email asking for an update. I had no reply from that, so a few days later I called again and spoke to someone else. I eventually had a call informing me that they were waiting for a "part" to come from American, which I found odd. In the next few days, I received an email informing me that the Forensics and R&D teams had completed a full diagnostic and data-recovery assessment of the device but were unsuccessful in recovering any data. I was very disappointed as I feel that while they did not guarantee they could recover anything, they did state it was extremely promising. I do feel like I've been scammed as I'm sure they knew before I paid that they wouldn't be able to retrieve the data but were aware of how desperate I was. I'm sure they do manage to recover data from a lot of devises, but do they ever say straight out, without any cost, that no, they can't retrieve the data?

I wanted to take a moment to express my immense gratitude for the exceptional service provided. The quick turnaround and excellent service truly stood out to me. Every step of the process was thoroughly explained, making me feel that my situation was just as important to them as it was to me.
I will forever be thankful for their help in recovering my files and pictures. This service became even more significant as I had recently lost my Dad a month earlier. As a family, it was crucial for us to retrieve those precious memories. For me, especially after having a stroke, these pictures serve as prompts that help bring back fond memories.
Their first-class service left a lasting impression on me, and I would unreservedly use their services again. Without hesitation, I would also recommend them to anyone in need. Thank you so much for your outstanding, first-class assistance.

Bait you in with a specific price which went up 3x after an "investigation". Comms appalling had to chace constantly via email, they seem v reluctant to put anything down in email. Once I rejected their offer, weeks elapsed before sending back my drive. When returning the drive they used an untracked post without asking if I would prefer to pay for tracked or a safer option.

Do not use this company.

I had a hard drive go down full of valuable memories and I was at a total loss of what to do. I found this company online and rang them for advice. I was sent a label to send the damaged drive to them and it was picked up by DHL.
I was notified via email that they had received the drive safely and analysis would start soon. I was promised up to date reports on what would happen whilst the drive was in their care.
After a few days I was notified that after analysis it was great news that the data could be retrieved and placed on a new hard drive that would be sent to me. I admit this is a pricey service but you are paying for a very specialist service and you have to be prepared to pay for this. Memories have no price do they ? I was given a quote and agreed for the work to start. I was kept updated every step of the way and I then received via royal mail tracked a new hard drive with all the data I had lost on a brand new drive. I was over the moon.
I have since backed up all this data and more I have on other drives to safeguard it. Honestly it was a pleasure to deal with these people. I want to extend a special thankyou to Jason Murphy for his help and advice. Would definitely recommend this company to all who suffer the same problem. Helpful and professional. Recovering data is not guaranteed and you have to pay for the analysis and work regardless , like I say in my case I was lucky but memories are priceless so safeguard them well. It took a while but all my data was retrieved. There was good communication throughout.

Very professional and communication was exemplary. They retrieved all data I had lost which was from a 10 year old hard drive

I sent my SD Cards in for a 'No obligation' assessment, a Fields Data Recovery engineer examined it and they then told me that they would need to look into it further as they had not managed to retrieve anything yet. After recieving a quote to look into it further (which would not be refundable even if they didn't manage to recover the data) and then if they succeeded in recovery, it would take a further charge. I decided not to proceed with the recovery and requested my SD Cards back and would possibly look into the recovery at a later date. Months later and after trying to contact Fields Data Recovery multiple times, I still haven't received my property back and not even had a reply to my emails.. are they a scam and did I get lucky not paying them any money?? Who knows?

Fields Data Recovery retrieved all of my data, which was sent to me within a week. They kept in contact with to inform me of what was happening. It isn't cheap but if your data is important to you, it's worth it.

This might ruffle some feathers...So, i had a portable hard-drive fail. I needed the files back. I found this company and started the process. Once I had sent off the hard-drive I checked reviews....they were a mixed bag, but lots of terrible reviews. I became worried.

My experience - communication was good, once I sent off the hard drive and paid the money to recover the files they were quiet (a little spooky - but this was biased by the bad reviews I read), until they sent me the data and it was all there, no issues getting the data from them. They did the job I required and paid for.

It is not cheap, but then again you are using an expert service, therefore you should not expect the process to be "cheap". If you are looking for a "cheap" data recovery, I'm sorry you will be disappointed.

I cant help but think some of the people leaving terrible reviews did not read the website and see the cost range ahead of time, and then when greeted with the fee, became angry and felt scammed.

After reading the reviews I was nervous about the process with Fields, I even recorded phone calls I had with them to have everything on record, however it turned out everything was going to run smoothly, I was going to get my data back and Fields did nothing out of the ordinary/wrong.
