The phrase "I will confirm shortly" must be the company strapline" because each time you whatsapp Colin and ask a question that is the reply. I had to consistently chase up when the gardener was coming, times, who was coming. This was my 2nd time using this company and it was the most stressful, disappointing experience. I had 2 gardeners come to the house for hedge trimming, weeding. I didn't expect to have 2 gardeners a week apart but the first guy did half a job, wasn't great. Left the waste and broken shovel in the garden. The hedges looked like they had been hacked with a pair of scissors. He told me he didn't have the correct tools on him. He was here 3ish hours. First thing he asked me was "is there a shop nearby" and his life story. Weeded only half the garden and when he left didn't even tell me. Contacted Colin and explained and it then took 3 days of chasing via whatsapp/text messages as calls were not being answered of a second gardener to finish the job, take the waste after he had to tip it all out the bag and sift through it. Sorted out the hedges again. He was here for less time and did a better job with the correct tools and knew what he was doing. The gardener is called Justin and a life saver. Happy with the final job. If you get Robert the gardener ... Good Luck. You'll need the job doing twice!!
Still waiting to hear from Colin but be assured I will not be paying for the first gardener or waste. Neither will I be using this company again. It has been highly disappointing and the amount of chasing I've had to do whilst doing my day job is not worth it.
The gardeners let this company down. Communication between customer and Colin needs to improve. Maybe recruit an Admin person.

I don’t really like to give reviews as I always try to keep the same workers; however, I find this company so strange and unprofessional.

1) It seems the only way you can communicate is via text message(which is a Checkatrade number) my error I know! I have messages from May 2025 (wanting a monthly package) and when trying to call the response text number for quotes (number doesn’t ring, I assume this an internet text number only).
2) You can NOT have a fixed date/time for work! Helen (if she still works at the company/or the male who Ive been told is Colin) respond via text ……as holding message only but this is weeks later.
3) I think this could be a company that sub-contract to others?? Even watching my obvious CCTV (its very clear to the gardener) the job is OK at best but i have HUGE gaps in hedges where my 7lb dog can escape. But this is only WHEN he part finishes (he hasn't finished the jobs twice). Maybe I am ignorant for offering refreshments however if I have booked a slot that is 2 hours MORE than your last slot I expect the work to be finished, even if expecting offering to pay ADITIONAL for the work to be finished. As an example today I booked 4 hours for hedge trimming, he didn’t finish and I watched a video and he only worked 3 hours (1+ late PLUS remove his breaks).
I can’t state that the work is poor, just not to my expectation and i will post on google so i can add pictures for gardeners to add comments; but execution and correct pricing is very poor. I try to keep relationships with the same individuals but have now come to the realisation that a bigger company is better for ME for quantity and price.
28.08.2025 the owner(?) has been in contact to try to resolve finishing my hedge after a Whatsapp call. i will update this accordingly.

Communication with (assuming) the local manager Colin was great, the gardeners not so much. They did a good job for garden clearance but communication could be better and the final touches to the garden could have been done.

Found Chris Holland through searching Google for a local gardener as I'd been let down so much.Needed planting hedges for the front of my home.He came along to see what needed doing.Gave me the best quote and completed the job i'd been waiting to have done a few days later.

Find a local Gardener is a great company. Andy, the gardener they sent me does a fantastic job and I like the fact that you can buy a package of hours to cover 3 or 6 months so I can budget and plan for the service. Lauren and Colin have been great with helping to answer questions and scheduling the gardener.

Very good service prompt response very reasonable rates and the gardeners are very professional they do their work very neatly and the again the service if very good they're the best!

1 year later looks horrible, everything growing back through , yhis was ment to be a professional job , nowhere near , no reply or correspondence from them please avoid , received contact from them , nothing but an attitude from Colin, now saying I'm trashing the business name with this review, I wish I could post pictures on here , 1 so people could see the shoddy work and 2 , so people could could see how I'm spoken to ,

I worked for this company.

They were charging £20+ an hour and paying around £13. Bare in mind that’s self employed and I would pay for fuel to jobs (they would find me work over 25miles away for 2 hours! So £26 earned and £15 in fuel alone).

They are a middle man with a website and a phone (agency).

Go direct and stop paying a middleman. They would employ literally anyone that claimed they had ‘experience’. I went behind others and sorted out some VERY shoddy work.

Simply an agency. Support your local gardeners by employing directly.

I ditched them in a month - went solo again and charged less than they charge by several £ and I earned a good bit more.

Tom was a really nice guy and completed the work as requested and a few extra tidy up jobs for me. Excellent result very pleased

Highly recommend Find a Local Gardener. They did an excellent job at a good price. The gardener was reliable, friendly and left the garden looking lovely at student property

My elderly Mum’s garden was looking pretty sorry for itself after being left all summer, so it was very over grown. We asked Find A Local Gardener if they could help her once a month to keep on top of the gardening jobs and we found them very easy and pleasant to deal with. Not to mention great value, too! They organised a gardener for us within 2 days of our email message to them and a lady named Samantha came with shears, lawn mower and strimmer and made short work of getting the garden back under control. The garden was bad and took her a day to clear, then she came back the next day to make it look beautiful. We couldn’t believe it was the same garden! My Mum was absolutely delighted and will be having Samantha visit every month to keep the garden tidy. I would highly recommend Find A Local Gardener to anyone needing a talented, friendly gardener.

I came home from work amazed at what I was seeing , mum has been struggling with her garden due to work commitments . She called in this company the first visit they did a lot the second visit has shown what they can do ! Mums happy, I’m happy . I know she’s paid but just wanted to say how much I am looking forward to spending time in garden with mum this summer !!

Highly recommended! I asked Find a Local Gardener to help me with recruitment, and the role for Maintenance Gardener has been filled between 2 weeks! Very reasonable fees and professional service.

I used find a local gardener as I was in need of some lawn ad hedge maintenance as I am unable to do those jobs myself. The whole experience with the company and the garden was very professional, would definitely recommend using this company as I will be using them again myself in the future for any further gardening work I am in need of.

Colin Sewell is the owner of this company for which I have worked several months. A very dishonest person who doesn't pay his contractors out for completed jobs like this happened to me. Thats why I stopped working for this company. "Findalocalgardener" rates are expensive for which you can get better qualified gardeners at your local gardening/landscaping centre as "findalocalgardener" company uses a lot of unqualified gardeners with little or no experience. A company I surely not would recommend.

I had to leave home for a couple months so I paid for the two month service package which I was told included grass cutting, hedge trimming, and weeding among other things. I told my landlord everything would be taken care of. Upon return, it appeared nothing had been done. Grass was knee high, and all plants and weeds were out of control. My neighbors said they saw a person show up once and do incomplete work. The owner said they showed up twice. Either way, my garden was a mess. I asked what happened, and requested them to clean it up. After over three weeks of asking and only receiving "Will let you know shortly" in response, I was able to clean up my garden myself and get only half of my money back. Not much considering the work I put in to fix the mess and the fact that my grass has to be replanted in several areas. If there was a miscommunication or mistake, I could understand that. But there was zero effort to either fix the issue or explain what had happened which was most frustrating.

Please don't be fooled by fake positive reviews.

The gardeners do a good job . Just a shame the office staff don't no anythingthing about gardening . Just answer the phone book you in . Then past the work on . Any sales man cud do that . Y sud you have to pay up front for the gardener ??? . If you are not happy you don't get your money back . Just excuses . There take your money then run . Then there will ring you in a couple of weeks . Asking if you want your gardens doing . No thanks
