Fly Away Ballooning Avis 

Had absolutely terrible experience with this company. Booked two tickets for £400 in February 2025 for my bf. He didn't like the present, I messaged straight away to get a refund or any other options. Was rejected on the refund, but during the booking I was promised to have a validation of 6 years. In June 2026 tried again to email the company again to get a refund or/and confirm that I still can use it within 5 years. They surprised me saying that my tickets will be valid only until February 2027 + no refund or any help on that. I asked kindly if they could help me with reselling it or maybe helping with an advertisement or anything really. That's a lot of money! After my email, they just disappeared and never responded. My £400 are wasted. Don't recommend this company. You will be left helpless and frustrated

We booked a hot air balloon ride for my self and my two boys age 9 and 12 and it was the most magical experience of our lives! What an incredible team, providing the best ever service, we felt safe and looked after whilst sailing weightlessly through the skies. The sun set as we silently floated high above the clouds and then dipped down almost touching the trees. It was a once in a life time experience which we will treasure for ever! Both Hugo and Scott were true legends! Thank you for this brilliant experience!

I had an absolutely incredible experience with Fly Away. From start to finish, the team was professional, friendly and welcoming making me feel at ease. The flight itself was magical. Truly once in a lifetime and I cannot recommend fly away ballooning enough.

Bright sunny morning marred by low mist……no problem! Hugo loaded us up and off we went , through the low cloud/ mist into a pink sunrise. Glastonbury Tor was a pinprick pointing through the mist. How atmospheric was that, such a photographic opportunity. Hugo’s flying skills are amazing. Skimming treetops, giving motorists another photo opp as we flew a few feet above minor roads.
Don’t hesitate book a trip with FAB and just feel the Zen!

We had an evening flight starting from Winslade Park at Exeter. Hugo and Scott were very well organised from start to finish, very professional, and there was a good atmosphere amongst the 8 guests, whose ages ranged between early 30s and late 70s. Depending on your circumstances, you can be involved in the setting up and packing away, but only if you wish to. It is very weather dependent, and cancellations do occur, but re-booking is just a one-click process. We had no concept of what it would feel like - we rose at a steady pace, but smoothly. Apart from the burners being used occasionally to top up the balloon heat, it was silent. We were treated to wonderful views down towards Exmouth and the Channel, and then slowly drifted inland over lovely Devon scenery. We landed quite smoothly in a farmer's field near Silverton and were driven back to were we started from. Hugo is very good at answering queries by text & email, if there is something you are not sure of. It really was a wonderful, memorable experience and we highly recommend Fly Away Ballooning.

My friends and I enjoyed a beautiful trip last night with Hugo. It was a pleasure and a real treat for us all. Enjoyed the company of the other people on board and the excellent Scott who saw us back to base in Bath after. Highly recommendable. Thank you Hugo and all involved. See you soon. Excellent just as described by others. Felt safe and secure as Hugo steered is into the countryside towards Chew Magna. I was a bit anxious about the landing but should not have been. Enjoyed the champagne after landing and the arrangements to take us back worked well. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience, the views of the countryside were amazing. Hugo was excellent and the gin and tonic at the end was lovely!

What an amazing experience. Hugo & Ally looked after us very well from start to finish & were very friendly & welcoming.We helped with setting up & packing away the ballon. The flight was over the levels, with great views all around. The sunrise was just amazing & we saw deers running around the fields. Would definitely recommend.

What an experience! My husband surprised me with a balloon ride for our wedding anniversary- I’ve always imagined a ride to be in a large basket with countless other people and a drive to the pick up - but not this one! Hugo picked us up from the field behind our house! A short walk to the end of our road and they were there - I was speechless to say the least! A magical start to an epic morning. Hugo made us feel so comfortable and at ease, with only the three of us in the basket we had 360 views over our home town. We loved pointing out landmarks from the air and spotting the sea in the distance - a truly magical experience.
Hugo, his father Giles and Ali were faultless - a family who obviously take great pride in their legacy.
We cannot recommend Hugo and his team enough - we hope to fly with again on day!

Hugo has been very responsive with all my questions. My son is hoping to take flight next year with his gift voucher, so will come back and put another review on after he has flown.

Go and book your expensive experience with someone trustworthy.

They cancelled our pre-booked flight (= date fixed in stone, time / location adjustable for forecast, as per their own email) without much notice and even less of an attempt to communicate. We just received an email telling us no flight, the season is closing so likely no flight until 2023 reopening.
When asked to provide a full refund for a service they did not provide and cancelled themselves, they immediately went into ranting about how they can do that "because our business can't afford it" and we're lucky to be given a voucher valid for next season. Waving their useless little T&Cs at us, as if they have any right to rewrite customer laws to make their life and business easier to manage. Oblivious to how unfair their decision was, they then just closed to any form of communication.

We were forced to have PayPal intervene as a third party via an official complain. Obviously, customer rights being what they are, PayPal eventually forced this company to give us a full refund. But thanks for the effort and stress that this created.
Not to mention... What if we had paid by debit card directly? Without PayPal in the way to stand up for us, the little guy, this company would have rolled us over and won laughing.

Now, ask yourself.
Do you really want to put your life and safety into the hands of a company who cuts corner and tries rewriting laws to serve their purpose and make their life easy.
What else do they make easier on themselves. Safety checks? Maintenance? Gear?

That's just not worth it.
Plenty other providers for such services. Get someone respectable, respectful, and honest.

Wow, what a great experience. My husband bought me a flight for my birthday. Although we had rearrange few times due to the weather, but once the time did arrive it was amazing. Hugo and this team get you involved with setting up (if you want to) and you have a safety brief before take off. During the flight, we flew at various heights, which showed off Hugo's piloting skills. The landing was so smooth, you hardly realised you were back on the ground. Once back to the take off site, we enjoyed a lovely GandT! Take a decent camera and expect to climb in and out of the basket.
