Discrimination on the basis of nationality
I have paid for the Oxford Algorithmic Trading program only to discover they deny access to the platform to Russian nationals citing some data-protection laws as a cover-up to their political position. As a permanent EU resident and someone who studied in the UK and spent 15 years in global finance I was totally shocked to learn that. Their phone line almost never works and it's really hard to get hold of someone over a phone.

I was somewhat reluctant after signing up for a MIT course delivered through Get smarter. But I did not find any challenges with neither the platform or their customer service, and the course was amazing.
very bad experience EVER!
very bad experience EVER!
I enrolled in the GetSmarter course OXF-ALG-2026-01-21 (University of Oxford online course). I joined the course late, but I was never informed that I had already missed multiple modules’ assignment deadlines and was ineligible for several graded group discussions, which made it impossible to complete the course successfully.
I tried repeatedly to contact GetSmarter staff for help and deadline adjustments, and although some initial adjustments were provided, the staff arbitrarily advanced deadlines, making it impossible for me to complete the work. After that, all my communications were ignored, and my request for a full refund has not been addressed.
This experience demonstrates serious mismanagement, unprofessional treatment, and failure to provide basic customer service. I cannot recommend GetSmarter based on my experience.
DO NOT recommend
DO NOT recommend! I signes up for a course with Economist Education. They work with getsmarter.com. After paying for the course, communication stopped. I did not receive any further info or updates regarding the course. Only upon inquiry did I receive the log-in data the day of the course start. The actual courses content is not released until several days later even though it is pre-recorded and reused for every course. The worst part is that I am obligated to upload fotos of my picture ID, front and back along with a selfie on a third party platform that uses AI to "verify my identity". There is no apparent reason to why they would need all this personal data in order to offer their services. This should be optional for participants that want to receive an official certificate for their course participation.

I wish I checked trust pilot before signing up for a course. The platform is HORRENDOUS - NOT INTUITIVE, it is an absolute pain to do anything there. I was frustrated, confused, disappointed throughput the course. When I requested to prolong the deadline due to high demending job business trip , they refused. UNACCEPTABLE!!! do not ever book any course with this mistake of a company
Terribile platform
I am currently doing an MIT training on the GetSmarter platform. I can't believe how terrible their app history is. Full of bug and impossible to use. It is completely ruining the training experience.
I am supposed to start my online course…
I am supposed to start my online course with Cambridge today and I still did not receive login details. Sent two emails to getsmart, tried to call - all agents are busy so the system disconnects me and advises to send them an email. At 2K for a few weeks online course, I would expect a more decent experience with something so basic and technical as login details. It was fixed during the day but still a bit unpleasant start of the course.
Excellent courses
I've done four courses on GetSmarter - Yale's Accelerated Management Program, Stanford's Psychology for High Performance, Economist Education's Critical Thinking and HEC's The Leader As Coach. All the courses have been excellent with the Yale program being outstanding in terms of content and delivery. I had no issues using the program and the TAs and support were very responsive in providing extensions whenever I requested.
Horrible Experience
Misleading, Unethical, and Unresponsive
– A Warning to Prospective Students
I enrolled in a program with GetSmarter in 2021, paying a total of $4,800 USD at the time. Shortly after enrollment, due to a serious medical issue, I contacted their support team and provided full medical documentation requesting a refund. Despite submitting all requested proof, GetSmarter outright refused to issue a refund and showed no willingness to accommodate my situation.
This experience highlights several major concerns:
Lack of Empathy and Flexibility: Their support team demonstrated no compassion or understanding, even when faced with verifiable medical emergencies. Policies are enforced rigidly, without regard to individual circumstances.
Misleading Marketing Practices: While the website and course promotions highlight “student-friendly” policies and accessibility, the reality is that once payment is made, their terms are strictly in their favor, leaving students without recourse if issues arise.
Opaque and Difficult Processes: Communicating with GetSmarter was unnecessarily complicated. Multiple emails went unanswered, and the process for requesting a refund is confusing, delayed, and ultimately ineffective.
Unethical Business Practices: Denying a refund despite documented medical emergencies feels exploitative. They prioritize profit over ethical treatment of students, which is deeply concerning for any prospective student seeking quality education and fair treatment.
No Accountability: Even when policies were pointed out, the company refused to take responsibility or offer alternative solutions, showing a lack of accountability for their promises and commitments.
I strongly caution anyone considering GetSmarter: they are not an ethical company. Their marketing may appear professional and student-focused, but in practice, they are inflexible, unresponsive, and profit-driven at the expense of students who encounter genuine issues. I have escalated my case through consumer protection channels and continue to seek accountability.
Summary: Avoid GetSmarter if you value fairness, transparency, and ethical treatment. There are many online learning platforms that will honor commitments and treat students with respect.
Total scammers
My employer made bank transfer for a training program and they CANNOT find the money in their end. Just shut down the company and go home.
They work with the most useless bank that cannot even handle international bank transfers.
They had the audacity to ask me to pay MORE to my bank so that my bank can trace the money they lost.
I feel that I got scammed by them
I feel that I got scammed by them. I paid $2,500 for a course, and they told me that I would get a certificate. I didn't get anything because I didn't submit an assignment, and they told me it is too late. They didn't give me a chance to submit it. They didn't help me to solve the problem because they don't care. I wasted my money!
Great content, worst company to deliver it
Enrolled and enjoyed the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Programme. But the service provided by GS is sub par to say the least. They forgot to grade one of my submission because of a technical glitch on their side, told me there was nothing they could do at first then eventually released my grade, refused to acknowledge any wrong doing and barely offered a 20% discount on another course (because I pushed).
Stay clear.
This is horrible
This is horrible and very close to a scam! Answers are all automatic, the course isn't really administered by the universities, most importantly the student service is absolutely horrible! They do everything they can to do a bare minimum and if you miss anything more than 5 days you won't get any certificate
I would not recommend this platform.
I would not recommend this platform.
GetSmarter now requires a third party identification through a company called Jumio that feels incredibly invasive and puts personal data at risk. The company they are using for identity verification has faced multiple lawsuits under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) for allegedly mishandling biometric data. There are well-documented concerns about Jumio retaining users’ facial scans and identification documents beyond what’s necessary. Trusting a third party with such sensitive data, especially one with a history of legal issues, is a massive privacy red flag.
When I reached out to customer support for clarification, I was met with unhelpful, dismissive responses. It’s clear they have no real interest in addressing concerns once they have your money. They offer no alternatives to uploading your government ID and a selfie for biometric data. There are no options to use another identify verification company (ID.me, Clear, etc.) with more rigorous standards for security and privacy.
This is unacceptable for an education provider, especially one that partners with reputable institutions. Instead of prioritizing student privacy, they put personal and professional information at risk. Do yourself a favor and choose an alternative platform that values both education and security for your professional development, especially if you are paying out of pocket.
I paid and when I informed them that I…
I paid and when I informed them that I no longer want to continue with the course because their way of marking is not good. I got no reply and I lost my 8k from them. I left the course with nothing
Terrible
Terrible. Awful Scam. There is an idiot called Andre B which asks for company money to pay, and the asks for more stuff, but you are not allowed into the trainings. Watch out! Soon it will be your pets' vaccination card this guy is asking for.
Dreadful experience
The "tutors" assigned in these courses have nothing to do with the prestigious university they advertise. The "success advisors" cannot solve the smallest admin issue and the software used in the courses could do with some even half-skilled programmers. Would not in good conscience recommend GetSmarter to anyone!
Do not trust getsmarter courses run by UCT
Do not trust getsmarter courses run by Cape Town university. i have had endless connectivity issues loading up my identity, as well as not able to navigate the online site and i am in my second week of LSE Accounting with London School of Business. The online call centre has no clue how to offer the services, to correct the connectivity issues the Getsmarter App is experiencing.
Get Smarter course is charged upfront yet leading up to the start of course, they have no clue, and request payment endlessly by sending out emails.
i am disappointed that i which i normally review before, have not read up on their reviews where they not customer driven yet they say they are world class!. the customer care team is not giving feedback on why online platform is experiencing a problem, they just messaging to say do not hesitate to let us know
I will be getting my balance of my monies back from them no doubt about that! i have started on 18th september 2014 and only second week in
University of Cambridge, Communicating for Influence and Impact
I took Communicating for Influence and Impact course from University of Cambridge. It was written that there will be certification, but there is no. They don't respond to my mails or questions. It is a SCAM!
Cant access my coursework
My 3000 euro course started yesterday and I have stuck on an endless loop of ID verification that nobody at Getsmarter seems to care to help with
