Work from the outside of the stain inward to avoid spreading. Avoid over-wetting the fabric as it can cause watermarks or mildew.  Allow to air dry fully before sitting on it. Spot Cleaning:  Always test any cleaner on a hidden area first.  Use mild upholstery cleaner suited to your fabric. Apply in small amounts and blot dry. Protecting the Fabric: Apply a fabric protector spray (like Scotchgard) every 12-18 months. Use throws or slipcovers in high-traffic areas or if you have pets.
