Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Trying to cancel my policy after I sold my house and they made it much more difficult than needed. Mack and Francis were specifically not helpful. Talking in circles and not answering my questions. Never again!
They couldn’t possibly be a worst…
They couldn’t possibly be a worst insurance company. Slow claims processing and they partner Wardlaw Claim Service which is an absolutely atrocious company. I picked them because they were the cheapest and I definitely got what I paid for. Don’t do it.
THEY SELL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
I am extremely dissatisfied and concerned that my personal information has clearly been shared or sold without my consent. I am now being continuously contacted by multiple motor warranty and insurance companies, which indicates that my data has been distributed unlawfully.
I have never given permission for my information to be processed, sold, or shared with third parties. This is a direct violation of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), which protects consumers against exactly this type of abuse.
This behaviour has resulted in ongoing unsolicited calls, amounting to harassment and a serious invasion of my privacy.
I demand that:
My personal information be immediately removed from all databases
Full disclosure be provided on how my data was obtained and shared
Confirmation that no further processing or distribution of my data will occur
If this matter is not addressed urgently, I will escalate it to the Information Regulator and pursue further legal action.
This is unacceptable and must be rectified immediately.

I live in Southern California and home insurance is usually hard to get and very expensive. Hippo has provided with great coverage at reasonable price.
Double up in year 2
My second year saw a almost twice my previous premium and no roof coverage. WHO DOES THAT!!!
I am very disappointed with Hippo
I am very disappointed with Hippo. I have been a loyal customer for some time now. Hippo is taking advantage and has raised the price of my home insurance by a $1000 more a year! Because competition is less, Hippo is now gouging its customers. Knowing that there are less companies in California, Hippo is abusing us. I hate greedy people. Most people can't afford living expenses today, and to add to that is evil. Insurance companies are the biggest ripoff businesses taking in more money than they ever pay out. And endless profits and the customer just pays with no return to speak of. This is an outrage. And the other few companies are no better. The world is full of wicked people whose only reason to live is to bring misery on others. Hippo use to be a standard of fairness and economic customer consideration above the rest, but since the company changed underwriters, usury is the new game. I can not recommend Hippo any longer.

I contacted Hippo Insurance while searching for home insurance and was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the responsiveness and professional communication. The representative I worked with provided several options and quotes for both the home coverage and the California Fair Plan. The communication since acquiring coverage and user friendly app have been excellent. I highly recommend Hippo insurance for those looking for competitive rates, excellent coverage and stellar customer service.

They found us reasonable homeowners insurance when other companies simply said ‘no’ because of our canyon zip code or quoted an exorbitant annual rate. And they renewed us with a very modest increase.
Preimium Problem
Have had no experience in claims because I have had no need. Fingers crossed. However, premium wise, last year they raised my home premium by almost 60%, now this year 2026, they doubled the premium with no explanations. Trying to get a better quote.

The quote for my renewal was provided promptly. Coverage was continuous. The payment was handled by Auto payment. When I reached out to find out when the renewal would come I received that information right away.
