Will never return to this place.Never known a manager to have such a bad attitude and behave in an aggressive manner.Also the gents toilets were a disgrace,worst I have been in for many years.Could hardly breath with the terrible stench!

We visited Monday evening 5 people at 19.30asked for menus as sitting outside we were told they were stopping food service as they had been busy and short staffed. We told to order straight away if we wanted food . Staff and I assume manager very abrupt and rude . Fish was not good. Also no steak on menu and lots of other things apparently had run out . Very disappointed as it was a birthday meal. Garden neglected and run down cigarette ends and litter everywhere. We won’t be visiting again. We have been using the Hopwood for a lot of years as local . Shame to see a once nice pub going downhill.

Popped in on the off chance of getting a table on a Saturday night and manager greatfully shot us a table, was a nice surprise to be served by Claire who had remembers us from a previous visit she was very polite and professional. Had a lovely meal and a few drinks. Thanks for fitting us in we will be returning again in the near future.

Manager needs to smile ....was miserable looking all night

I have been a regular customer here for many years, without complaining about awful food, portion sizes and price rises, but this week has determined I will not visit again. I recently made a booking online but there was nowhere to say I wanted a table in the bar as I was bringing a dog. Tried ringing several times to confirm this but the phone just rang and rang. Finally on the morning of my booking I got through to the rudest man ever, (have never had a staff issue before usually very friendly) when I said I just wanted to confirm I needed a table in the bar as I was bringing a dog he told me 'you can't bring dogs!' Pointed out politely that the website goes to quite a length to stress they are a dog friendly pub, he repeated 'well you can't bring a dog,' then went on to say we have someone with an allergy!' Don't really understand what that meant either staff or a customer, but believe it was an excuse. Please remove that you are a dog friendly pub from your website - YOU ARE NOT A DOG FRIENDLY PUB! It would save you a lot of feedback from disgruntled customers!

There is a very disturbing video trending on YouTube that you have racially profiled a family and there's thousands of views of it and this is very very sad on many many levels. Please sort this out and do better.

Booked a table for myself and a friend when we arrived, we went to the reception and I presume the manager a big chap, I showed him the reference number and he pointed myself and my friend to the smallest table right next to when people come in go out ,and we asked could we have another table and his reply was they’ve all been booked or being cleaned, we said that we would wait and then he said they’d all be reserved We were there for an hour and a half and not one single person on those tables which was about seven tables, some four seaters tables and some more bigger tables for more customers, the food was very nice but very disappointed with the manager as there were so many tables, 2 seaters and three seaters and four seater tables available, he didn’t go out of his way to accommodate another table to ourselves ,where he put us was the smallest table with no view my opinion just couldn’t bother to put us as it was too much trouble for himself, we asked the waiter was anybody else booked on those tables and he went to the manager and the manager said yes they were all booked having changed his mind twice, yet they were empty for the whole hour and a half that we stayed there very very disappointed with the manager, his excuse was if there’s only two of you you can’ not sit anywhere else, i.e. plenty of other tables which were empty cannot emphasise enough how disappointed I was with him. I normally take my neighbours about eight of us there but we’ll think twice in future, I good attitude goes a long way

Unable to eat here because dogs are not allowed, even though the website proudly states they do - a wasted journey. Please update your website

We have a daughter that has a dairy intolerance, so we made this clear when asked by the server and were directed to the website to be able to filter the food to ones safe for a dairy intolerance. This left one single meal that was dairy free. Firstly this is poor that there is only one option available. Upon ordering the server returned a few minutes later to tell us that one of their fryers wasn't working, so would it be ok to cook her food on the grill that they cook the haloumi on! Obviously this is not acceptable to cook the food for someone with a dairy intolerance on a grill that is used to cook cheese! They said that they could figure something else out and nothing more was said. She also had some garlic bread, which was listed on the menu as vegetarian and vegan, although she literally only had a nibble of this as the first one came out burnt to a crisp and the second one came out like it had been dipped in oil. Fast forward to later on that night and my daughter was very ill and was sick everywhere having eaten this food. This reaction was 100% caused by there being dairy in the food she ate, or from the food being in contact with dairy at some point in the kitchen. This is complete negligence from the restaurant to allow this to happen and could have resulted in a much more damaging outcome. I feel like your cooks and servers need to be immediately stood down and trained on food safety regarding allergens before someone gets seriously harmed.

Just had a lasagne meal plus other options with family there. don't know what all the negative comments are about the food was excellent garlic bread very tasty well done Chef

Bar staff, front of house are extremely rude. Waitress was inpatient. Drinks are ridiculosly overpriced especially the wine.

I’ve been here a few times and never had a bad meal. Today was no exception. Amy made our experience so good, she was like a ray of sunshine! And the meal she recommended was lovely. My grandchild adored her.. thanks Amy.. x❤️

Highly recommended! A***** Pure perfection from start to finish. Food was hot - just the way my family and I like it and it was de-lic-ious! The service was what I can only describe as being very rapid; compliments to the wonderful chef, Dave - you are a credit to your profession and to the waiter Carl - what a pleasant young man. There was another young waiter that I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to get the name of, also worked very hard. Thank you all so very much for such delicious food and top service. We will definitely be back again! Xx

Absolutely fantastic, what a great place!

Firstly, the restaurant itself is warm and welcoming. The staff are wonderful, always happy to help no matter what.

The food is wonderful, homecooked and filling, which is great as I often take family members of whom are quite picky about restaurant food, and even theh cannot fault it!

Seriously, its a great place, give it it try!

And thank you again to all the staff there who ensure that we are happy too.

I met my long time friend here on the Wednesday after Christmas 2021, I hadnt seen her for a long time due to covid etc. We both enjoyed our time here the food was first class + the service was second to none. It was such a pleasure going somewhere with smiling staff + a happy manager. Our table was booked for 12.45 it was ready for us when we got there. I really can't say anything negative with this pub. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Went for a meal there this evening and the main was lovely but am gutted they have taken the biscotti cheesecake off the menu completely, never to return. Not going to lie wasn't happy. Can't fault the service though it was super friendly and top notch on waiting for our meal
