Had a fantastic time at Denbies
Had a fantastic time at Denbies. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent.
We were lucky enough to have amazing weather, and sitting in the restaurant looking out over the vineyard genuinely felt like we could have been in the South of France! Such a beautiful setting and a really enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Film intro was good but afterwards….
Film intro was good , but after this the idea of “wine tasting” went out of the window . A first taste of light sparkling wine . There was a walk down the side of the storage and bottling area . Ok that’s expected , but the tour guide was not very knowledgeable about the various wines produced at Denbies , and talked for too long about fairly wide ranging generic wine values . A quick taste of dry white .Then on to the wine tasting area for a taste of blended red . The poor guide could not really answer valued questions from the group well enough and was clearly itching to get away for the next “tour” . I was expecting a bit more like a range of say 5 or 6 local wines laid out with a brief talk about what brings out the various characteristics or flavours on these , so we could compare and contrast those in a winery setting . Very poor value in my opinion . You are better served going to a tasting at a local Oddbins event.

Group of us went to Denbies today for "Inside Tour with Lunch & Wine tasting.
Film was very informative, the wine tasting tour was ok and interesting to learn about the making of. Had two tasters of White wine (about 100ml each). Could have had three, but don't like Red Wine
The two course lunch was nicely presented although couldn't eat in 3 floor restaurant (with views) as lift had broken down and we were all a bit mobility challenged, so had to stay downstairs.
We were all a little disappointed as had expected "locally sourced ingredients" paired with exceptional wines, to mean a glass of wine thrown in with lunch. Instead we were poured about 100 ml of wine each and charged £7 for this minuscule amount. It was a 175ml glass but only half filled. The waiter was a bit indignant when we questioned this and we were told no wine was included with the meal.
We all thought the wording of the add for Lunch a bit misleading. A bit disappointing (group of 10) Shall not be recommending this trip to others.
The 'gentleman' on reception around…
The 'gentleman' on reception around lunch time yesterday was surly and unhelpful when I asked a perfectly legitimate question regarding our trip details. I genuinely believe that he requires customer service retraining. Sad really as his female colleague couldn't have been more helpful. Must try harder if you want returning business Denbies.
Overpriced lukewarm Coffee seems to be…
Overpriced lukewarm Coffee seems to be the norm here now and certainly they are not aware that a flat white should begin with two shots of coffee not just the one. Unless of course they are aware but don’t think we are!
The new outside ‘shelter’ is dark, drab, draughty and will be of no use to dog walkers in the Winter as it offers no protection against the weather. Yet another cheap option like the last one.
Weekends are now being taken over by speeding cyclists as most of Surrey is and it is becoming increasingly dangerous walking on any of the footpaths for fear of being knocked down by large groups of them. Not sure they even spend any money so why are they allowed to use Denbies as a racetrack?
Been coming here for 30+ years but will not be in the future.
Had a wonderful day at Denbies…
Had a wonderful day at Denbies celebrating a friend's special birthday.
We had a good start with coffee and cake in the cafe, before heading off for a lovely long scenic walk around the vineyard (despite the rain!)
Next, the indoor wine tour was great fun. Our host, Jeremy, was fantastic, he was knowledgeable, genuinely passionate, made the tour both entertaining and interesting, and generously stayed afterwards to answer all our questions.
We ended the day with an amazing meal in the hotel. The staff truly went above and beyond to make the evening feel special, their attention to detail made all the difference.
It was a day we will never forget. A huge thank you to everyone at Denbies.
We would highly recommend.
Thank you
Jeremy is the best tour guide by far
Jeremy is the best tour guide by far. Amazing sense of humour, inclusive to all. Great tasting wind. Very informative and chatty
Overall I would highly recommend.
Tour guide Jeremy yelled at the group…
Tour guide Jeremy yelled at the group for talking making everyone feel very uncomfortable. On top of that he was very inappropriate with the girls (making comments, staring at their chest etc) and one member of the group ended up very unwell in the loo even though she’d had the same amount to drink as everyone else. The ‘tour’ itself was just a a bus up a hill and back down again - very underwhelming. Would strongly advise going elsewhere.
Stay at Debbie Hotel
I was bought here for a 60th birthday. Great wine tour but no hot water in the room shower or sink had to go to breakfast unwashed.
Very disappointed. As I'm now going to have to drive home for an hour - wash and change before I can get on with my day

Had the most amazing morning with Jeremy the tour guide for Denbies. We did the in-door tour and learnt so much about wine, the process and the history of the venue. Such a great experience would completely recommend 👌 this to everyone. Maybe in the summer I will return and do the outdoor experience.
Worst vineyard restaurant we have visited
We have visited many vineyards throughout the world. Our lunchtime visit to Denbies was by far the worst. We were looking for a light lunch so we visited the conservatory restaurant. There was no freshly cooked food available and no salads . It was reminiscent of school meals. The food we had was luke warm, dry and over cooked. We could not see a single person drinking wine!
What's happened?!
Have been going to your restaurant for many years and been happy with the food and service. However, today I noticed my sandwich was made with margarine! Don't you know that this is carcinogenic? And it tastes disgusting. What is wrong with you? I also have dietary requirements but have never had problems requesting a sandwich without certain ingredients. Today my husband heard a member of staff comment 'I'm not your personal servant'!!! This was also heard by a friend. We are all disappointed with the current standard, especially as you charge over £5 for a sandwich with not a great deal of filling and can't even use butter! Pull your socks up Denbies and provide well-filled sandwiches made with butter! Otherwise you will lose customers.
The Gallery Restaurant
We had prebooked the The Gallery Restaurant for a special birthday meal for a large group of 16.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful throughout the entire booking process and were also very attentive, friendly and helpful on the day. The light airy restaurant has fantastic views and it was easy to feel we had lots of space for our group without intruding on others who were also enjoying the good food and company together.
We pre ordered the food, which gave us more time to talk together on the day, and it was a lovely meal across all 3 courses. The email communication to enable this to happen was great and quick, polite responses were always given.
Thank you Denbies, we had lovely shared family occasion with lots of happy memories to talk about for a while.

Great stop for cyclists and lots of room inside. Very quick service and cake was delicious.
Absolutely amazing stay at Denbies this…
Absolutely amazing stay at Denbies this week. We. Stayed for 3 days with my Aunt and the service from everyone was outstanding, from Flori, Carol, Geoff and all of the staff in both the Gallery and Hotel restaurant, we were looked after like royalty and this will be a lasting memory for all 3 of us. Can’t imagine that we won’t be back to do the whole experience again as we all felt very relaxed the whole time we were there. The Vineyard is beautiful and we all shared an affection for the machine collecting the grapes and sat mesmerised for ages just watching it. Best wishes to all of the team. Perry, Denise and Aunt Denise xxx
Tasteless and dispiriting…
In the cafe tasteless and dispiriting Greek salad. Hot food was as appetising as school dinners. Coffee was more 'milk and a dash' than flat white. I don't remember Denbies being this poor.
Mediocre Britishness at its best
Mediocre Britishness at its best.
Where else in the world do you go to a vineyard and stage in line to order, only to be greeted by two disinterested, surly teenagers, given plastic glasses, no wine cooler then try to find a table to sit at amongst tables piled high with used glasses, bottles etc and rubbish on the floor.
Having been to vineyards in SA, NZ, France, Spain, Italy etc this was hugely disappointing. Could be so much more as it is a lovely setting. It’s missing a trick. Our local pub would have been better tbh.
Won’t return.

Great location and views but all very commercial. We did the train tour and afternoon tea. Very disappointing.
An appalling bacon butty yesterday…
An appalling bacon butty yesterday morning and the outside undercover tables were filthy dirty.
Went for a coffee at Denbies Cafe
Went for a coffee at Denbies Cafe. Was served by indifferent young girls at the counter, who at best were curt and disinterested. Given the delux nature of the layout and pricing at the shop, the Cafe is in comparison a bit of a dump. Cutlery was dirty and generally the place looks run down. I felt sorry for the people having a wedding there. You need to do a lot better at customer service and revamping areas around your building. The staircase leading up to the gallery spells of disinfectant, and the lobby is perhaps the most uninviting place for a hotel reception. The wines are massively overpriced. Denbies, YOU NEED TO DO BETTER. See the rating on your reviews.
