Best cheapest VPS in EU

I've been running OpenVPN and the Pterodactyl panel (with a Minecraft server and some Discord bots) for almost 6 months now on the cheapest VPS they offer. It works perfectly, costs only around 20 PLN (~4.5€), and their support replies almost instantly. No other provider can beat that.

Cheap and fast but quality like an expensive web hostell!

I haven't had them for that long but after I found the setup to be messy. But when I start to understand it, there's a lot you can do yourself and get what you want. I'm starting to like this now.
The support is fast, friendly and knowledgeable.
Best of all, you get more for a price you can afford than the web host I had before, which more than doubled its prices in two years.

Pålitliga tjänster och snabb personlig support

Använt Hostup för både VPS och domännamn i över ett år och är väldigt nöjd. Allt fungerar som det ska, och de gånger vi behövt support har den varit snabb via e-post. Konkurrenskraftiga priser, vilket är perfekt för oss i startup-fasen.

Bra prestanda och pris men otroligt seg support. Fortfarande inget svar sex timmar efter att jag ställt en enkel fråga. Tack och lov kunde jag lösa det själv efter mycket krångel, men hade sparat mig mycket tid och besvär om jag fått hjälp.

Det skiljer sig från ett traditionellt webbhotell genom att support för mjukvaran inuti servern inte ingår. Vi ansvarar för serverns hårdvara och nätverk, medan du som kund ansvarar för konfiguration och felsökning av din egen mjukvara.

An Amazing Host that you can trust !

I have been using Hostup for over a year now. Followed all the best practices they mentioned and didn’t even realise there was a downtime on 4th.

I have seen people here talking mostly about the incident and giving bad reviews. Honestly if you know what you are doing and don’t expect your service provider to check all boxes by default you are in good hands.

Only managed to open a few tickets that were replied to in an acceptable time.

Was annoyed recently that they moved my websites to a better server without letting me know but realised they emailed about the migration which I didn’t see so again issue on my side.

Very excited about the new powerful servers offered especially for my Wordpress sites which can benefit from high clock CPUs. Plus recent additions to DDOs is amazing.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to the team behind the scenes and yes I am with Hostup for a long term and trust them fully with my clients data.

Thank you for being an amazing host.

I requested better DDoS protection

I requested better DDoS protection, and now they added CDN77/Datapacket Tbps protection for my VPS!

I also heard that L7 protection Neoprotect with local POP was coming.

I was thinking they're going to add Path.net GRE to Germany but no! They're doing local POP so no ping increase.

Please keep going in this path. I think just having super powerful protection and no null route like other providers like Hetzner is awesome. When I combine the price, performance and now 7 free backups and free highest redundancy for storage no doubt this is becoming the best option.

Great service and very quick support

Great service and very quick support! Totally recommend.

I'm surprised to see complaints about corrupted storage and lost data, because it's client's own responsibility to create and maintain backups OR strongly ensure that they are activated. Many reviewers gave themselves slack and got bitten back by it, now shifting blame onto the hosting company.
You can never blame hosting company for not doing backups for you. Amazon VPS don't have a built-in backup for you.
It's ridiculous to even see such 1-star reviews.

I noticed HostUp started giving a free backup service for VPS.
I feel that's too much.
It would've been enough to write "YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR BACKUP, IF ANYTHING - YOUR LOSS" in bold red font.
Because I just have a static website and I personally don't even need a backup, but HostUp wastes resources on it. Both their money & resources.
I feel that's a scar in your history, but giving out a paid service for free after an incident is not the best option.

I wish HostUp all the best, because they truly do their best to provide best service, communicate fast and efficiently.

On March 4th

On March 4th, their central storage cluster destroied. All the data on my servers was lost. What concerned me the most was the slow and inadequate communication. By the time I found out that recovery was not possible in my case and that I needed to choose option B, a valuable 10 hours had passed. As a result, I had to work until the next morning to restore the data from other sources.

There was absolutely no mention in the official communication that if backups were not enabled, I was screwed. In fact, the published status update even included the sentence, "Don't worry, they're safe, and backups are always included in our services." This gave me hope for a long time, but it was sobering to learn that backups actually had to be manually activated for each server.

I started working with them because their communication about data storage on their website was convincing, and I had planned to stay with them long-term. However, I am deeply disappointed in them.

We are sorry about the issue. We have improved data security by instead of offering Ceph replication options, with addon fee for Replication-3 (data replicated to 3 servers) we now no longer do that and set Replication-3 as default.

In this case a bug caused data to be corrupted on the EC pool due to a combination of its writing pattern and the new disk firmware. We're now only offering Replication-3 option for everyone.

Additionally we've made it so a backup schedule for VPS, is created automatically.

Our backup solution is free and you can schedule backups to be taken automatically multiple times per day.

We’re sorry for what happened and thank you for your understanding. Sometimes things like this happen, even if they're extremely rare—we haven't had it happen in over 5 years.

To eliminate this from happening again we have improved data redundancy by moving everyone to Replication-3 (data replicated to 3 servers) instead of charging an addon fee for this.

Your Data is lost

Hello ahmed,
Upon investigating there is data corruption on the boot disk caused by fauly equipment.
We can't restore this I'm afraid. The VPS needs to be reinstalled or restored from a backup

If you haven't set up a backup schedule now is a good time to do so. The backup serves as a savepoint in case anything goes wrong that can be restored quickly. Additionally it's highly redundant and stored in 3 places. Stay Way

A disaster

A disaster, on March 5 their servers crashed, they completely destroyed my server, they even say its restored and my server is down, it can´t be rebooted, i can´t connect to it and they also don´t provide a restore backup for the mess they created, only argument i have is that they see i don´t have any scheduled backup, if its aa VPS why are they doing a maintenance without notifying us, so we can prepare for any inconvenience?

In 25 i have sealed with hosting providers, I've never seen this kind of response that they upgraded firmware without creating a disaster backup in case something goes wrong, which it did. and also put the blame on me for not having a backup.

I have production level websites there for clients that is costing me a lot of money for their issue.

Stay away from this provider. they may have great reviews, but the truth is that I've never had such a bad service like this. More than 25 hosting providers used alongside my career.

UPDATE: Your reply doesn´t solve anything, you guys also made a statement on the status mentioning that you had a backup, which then you said it was my fault for not having it. TERRIBLE

Love it

I have only been using them for a few days now, but I love it. Very cheap(~7$/Month for 4GB RAM, 2CPU Cores of AMD EPYC, 2TB NET, and 125GB SSD).

They're also very transparent with what they allow and what will happen if you break some rule(mostly throttle not outright termination).

2 things I had to get used to:

- No internal DNS managment for domains you haven't bought with their domain selling thing(I am just using the DNS settings of my Registar now)
- Hourly and sometimes monthly Prices are unfortunatly given in KR(swedish currency), but 1$ is roughly 10KR so it's not too bad, I'll deal it with for that price!!

Also: No overly invasive KYC, payment with credit card works just fine and at least in my experience no overly sensitive fraud detection where they won't even let you create an account.

Jag hade mycket problem i början då jag har många domäner och hemsidor hos Hostup, men har fått bra hjälp. Hostup ger sig inte, utan svarar tålmodigt på alla mina frågor tills alla problem är lösta.

Jag är mycket nöjd, men att aldrig kunna ringa är dåligt. En dag i veckan borde man i alla fall kunna ringa, eller om man har problem efter problem och mailar fram och tillbaka dagligen i flera veckor och BER att få ett telefonsamtal så borde man få det. För bådas skull, allt skulle gå snabbare och smidigare då helt klart.

Jag vill ändå ge 5 stjärnor för pris och support, men jag har några VÄLDIGT VIKTIGA punkter där ni skulle kunna ändra vissa saker så ni blir riktigt stora på marknaden. Jag har byggt bolag (i världsklass) och vill gärna hjälpa er med dessa saker. Nu pratar vi alltså INTE teknik eller webb, för Hostup är grymma på det, utan helt andra saker.

One of the cheapest VPS in Europe

One of the cheapest VPS in Europe, but not at the reduction of quality. Service Great. Online menu is easy to navigate and online documentation easy to follow (other than native language on the screenshots). Easy to extend existing core nVME storage or add Attached storage which can be assigned to your server of choice in their cloud menu. You can upgrade/downgrade at any time. No long contracts.

Couldn't answer basic questions for new customer

I asked 2 simple questions:

1. I don't see the Custom ISO when creating a VPS and don't see it in the knowledgebase, so where is it?

2. If you create a VPS via Custom ISO, for example with btrfs will any features in your admin UI be defunct? Such as upgrading/downgrading and resizing disk.

The answer I got after a whole 24 hrs was halfassed and it didn't really seem like they cared:

>1. You can either provide iso url or upload iso directly yourself via the control panel. It's no manual request but is done automatically within a few minutes depending on the iso size.

> 2. I'm not sure. We use the standard cloud templates, such as cloud-images.ubuntu.com for ubuntu. What file system is preinstalled is what is used.
If you install via custom iso, things like reset root password might not work. You can resolve this by installing cloudinit inside the vm at a later point.

.. tried to pry an answer out of them with more technical details as to why this would work:
> 1. This is done in the control panel you don't have any VPS hence you don't have the option to upload iso.
> 2. Upgrading & downgrading the server works fine.

.. but I guess its the usual "we have a small selection images and if it breaks the UI thats your problem", enjoy.

Really useless support. And also, why isn't at least the first question answered in the knowledgebase? Seems like a very relevant thing to know for a new customer..
