I wanted DBs check for private hire licence then when I clicked on enhanced DBs check it automatically came to standard DBs check.
And they charged £84. For simple or started DBs check at that i have clearly maintained that this is for private hire licence.

I think the government should take action for misguiding the public.

Do not use this company!! This is a highly unethical company - you think you are applying for an enhanced DBS and end up paying a lot more and get sent a basic DBS. I have had to use another company now and thus paid twice as there is no way of contacting the company - they do not reply to emails or contact requests. BEWARE!

Very disappointing experience with HR Check. I selected and paid for what appeared to be an Enhanced DBS Check, however only a Basic DBS Check was ultimately provided. The company later explained that Enhanced DBS Checks can only be requested by employers, which makes me question why the system allowed payment for the higher-level service in the first place.
I believe customers should be clearly informed before payment that individuals cannot obtain an Enhanced DBS Check. Charging a higher fee and then providing only a Basic DBS without refunding the difference feels misleading and unfair.
When I raised the issue, HR Check refused to refund the overcharged amount and relied on their no-refund policy, despite the fact that the actual service provided was different from what was paid for.
I am now considering escalating the matter through Citizens Advice and Trading Standards under UK consumer rights legislation.
I would advise others to carefully check exactly what service they are paying for before using this company.

Website is very misleading. It appeared that I was going to be provide with an enhanced DBS and upon payment confirmation was told it was a basic DBS at a very high price of £88. I tried to cancel and was them Informed I will be charged £25 +VAT. I would definitely not recommend this service.

Absolutely disgusting ! Have been out of work but offered same. Keen to sort a DBS check I googled dbs check & this was the 1st result (I now know this was a sponsored link). I paid £102.50 instead of £21.50 for a check via gov website. No cancellations refunds or changes allowed. NOT HAPPY !!!!!!!!

Very efficient service. Got my DBS within a week

The forms were easy to complete and uploading documents was easy using a laptop. You can keep track of your application online.

This company will not cancel the direct debit and there’s no way to do it online so you’ll end up paying £8 a month for something that actually costs £12 a year if you go directly to HMRC -

The instructions were clear, no trouble sending the completed form and approval came through within four days

Absolutely a scam, £109 for a basic DBS

Kept me informed from the beginning and very happy with the speed it has taken!

I soon realised that this was not the Government Website that I thought I had clicked on to make my DBS application.
I contacted them straight away asking to cancel the application and if a refund was possible. They responded immediately with ‘yes” but an admin fee would be deducted. I was quite happy with this and authorised the cancellation.
However….. after many emails back and forth, and six weeks later I still have not had my refund. I have had a couple of excuse emails, now no response.
BE CAREFUL what you click on online,as not all is what it seems HRCheck.co.uk are expensive, and not at all helpful. They are thieves!!

Disgraceful service – feels like a deliberate scam
Absolutely appalling experience with HRcheck.

I requested cancellation within 2 hours of placing my order. That should have been the end of it. Instead, they completely ignored the request and later came back with a ridiculous excuse that the application had “progressed” and could no longer be cancelled.

Their justification? They claim they sent an email asking for bank details for a refund, and because I didn’t reply within two days, they just went ahead anyway. That makes absolutely no sense. If a customer has already clearly asked to cancel, why on earth would you continue processing?

This doesn’t feel like incompetence – it feels intentional. A convenient way to avoid refunds by dragging things out and then blaming the customer.

Let’s be clear:

I cancelled almost immediately
They ignored it
Then hid behind a flimsy excuse to keep my money

That is not how any honest business operates.

Zero accountability, zero customer care, and a process that seems designed to trap you.

I would strongly urge anyone to avoid this company entirely. There are far more trustworthy services out there.

This company is very expensive and charges for services that are not properly delivered. When you request a refund, they assure you it will be processed, but it never is. This is very disappointing and unprofessional. In my experience, this company is not trustworthy and I would not recommend it.
