Jollyes The Pet People - Hailsham Avis 

Wow! There's a sign outside Jollyes boasting that it is the best value pet store in town. It should not include poultry food in that because if this is good value I would hate to shop at a store that was overpriced.
I was in the area and I urgently needed to pick up a sack of layers' mash for my hens which is typically just over £17.00 for a 20kg sack. At Jollyes add another £3.00 for that. Sorry but that's just a rip off and I won't be back. Mole in nearby Heathfield offers infinitely better value.

So I went in to Jollyes in Hailsham having made an order. I made the order at 09:30. The website told me to expect an email in an hour. When it came to 11:30, I still hadn’t received the email. I went to the fella at the the checkout. I said “I’ve made an order for collection!”. He said “of course, sir. What’s the order number?”. I gave him the order number. Because it was on my phone. He wrote the order number on a post-it note - with a biro - and gave the post-it note to me and told me to find a member of staff in a high-viz jacket. He couldn’t have done this for me, because that would have been far too much like hard work - he would have had to get up, walk, talk to someone etc. So I looked up, and there was one, dazzling in her day-glow orange, like an angel, rolling her eyes as she saw me approach. I gave her the post-it note and she knew what to do with it, so it can’t have been a one-off. She took it and went out the back for ten minutes, presumably to stand around as she was doing, but this time out of sight. I think she needed to print the receipt off, but I could be mistaken. This lady came back after approx 10 mins. She then picked the items off the shelf and took them to the front desk.

It would’ve been quicker to not bother ordering, and to go directly to the shop, picked it all off the shelf myself and then paid for it.

I’m not expecting it to be like Click & Collect, but when I buy online at Tesco, they don’t shop for it when I get there, it’s ready and waiting.

Perhaps I’m thinking too hard.

Always plenty of stock with great prices. The staff are always so helpful and friendly and there is always a treat pot at the counter so my dog always gets a treat. I wouldn't shop at any other pet store in fact we travel 17 miles just to go there (Hailsham East Sussex).

have been part of the Jollyes pet club for years and since Jan 2025 I stopped receiving the vouchers by email or any discount, so received no benefit of remaining faithful to Jollyes. A couple of weeks ago the manager of the Hailsham, East Sussex store said he was going to contact the head office, because I too have reached out, but have had many failed attempts as no one ever picks the phone up but as yet I still have not had any further updates or any credit/vouchers added to my account. As much as the staff are reasonably nice, I also received some bad advice regarding food. The man did not ask too many questions and instantly assumed that the problems I was having with my dogs was food related. I have now found out that it is nothing to do with food. So I ended up spending unnecessary amounts of money when I didnt need.
I will be finding other alternative food for my dogs if this doesn't get resolved.

an unnecessarily fussy procedure in redeeming a voucher - involving trying to to locate the original email on a phone in a queue in a busy shop in order to press a button - In the end I gave up. The voucher was clearly visible on my account on the till screen. I had clearly identified myself as the account holder. Why on earth could the till assistant not simply activate the voucher? I was not impressed.

Staff are great. However, you frequently have low or no stock of items i buy weekly for mydog!
