A taste of Kolamba without the hassle of going to London
Have eaten at Kolamba twice and it has been excellent but we live outside London, so it's not easy to get there. Thought we'd try the "At Home". It was delivered on the due date. Instructions were clear. Most importantly the food was excellent. Far better than we would have been able to experience locally.
Big thumbs up from us and we will definitely do it again

Lockdown favourite
Kolamba was a lockdown favourite-- we have ordered enough Chicken Curry Boxes that I have lost count. Shipped to us in Scotland, they have never disappointed, and on the one occasion where we had a minor issue, the client service was charming and efficient, leaving us only with improved sentiment and loyalty. Thank you for another cracking meal (or two)!

Great food, awful delivery service
We’ve eaten Kolamba food at home quite a few times over the last few years, and every time it has arrived it’s been really wonderful. If I were rating just the food, it would be 5 stars. But unfortunately, for this order, the food never turned up, and this is not the first time that’s happened to us with Kolamba. Their delivery service really lets them down.
Both ‘no shows’ we’ve experienced were ordered for special occasions, which has left us in the lurch at the last minute. I appreciate these things happen (which is why I gave it another go after the first time), but to have it happen twice in a row has unfortunately led me to decide not to risk ordering again.
It would also be really helpful if they provided a phone number to call in such situations. As it stands, customers are only given an email address which doesn’t give quick enough answers when you need to work out what to feed a group of people for a special occasion.
Whilst, of course, they offer refunds in these situations, it’s really quite galling to be told “it’s out of our hands once it leaves us”, which is the response I’ve had both times. It’s my opinion that the choice of delivery service is entirely in your hands, and with this failure rate you should be finding new suppliers.

As soon you emailed us saying you hadn’t received your order - we responded and tried to rectify the situation to the best of our ability immediately. We are apologetic that you didn’t receive the order, however we offered a full refund within hours of your email.
Out of the two major couriers in the UK (DHL and DPD) we have tried both and we have actually been let down more in the past by DHL.
It is wholly disheartening to receive reviews like this especially when the food as you say is good.
Not only do we have to absorb the cost of the failed delivery, refund the item in full but then on top to receive negative press is disappointing, especially as we have tried hard to rectify the situation to the best of our ability.

Such a treat!
What a treat! We went to the restaurant a while ago when we were in London and had such a fantastic time that I bought this meal box for my partner as a birthday treat. We absolutely loved the meal box, and it was great value for money compared to others we have tried. Such delicious flavours, and very easy to prepare.

Ethical issues
Whilst the food is good (if a little too salty) on the basis that the company is 70% funded by the incumbent president who has bankrupted the country in order to improve his own financial position on ethical grounds I have no choice but to give a poor review.

Firstly thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are grateful to patrons who share their honest opinions on their dining experiences. It is therefore disheartening to receive a one star review despite you enjoying our food (having ordered from us 8 times over the past 12 months), with the reason for your poor review being even more so when it’s not based on fact and is entirely founded upon deliberate and malicious untrue statements.
By way of information (which can be checked via public records), we would like to make it very clear that Kolamba is 100% privately owned, founded by a husband and wife who had an idea to bring the best of home cooked Sri Lankan food to London. Kolamba and its founders have absolutely no ties whatsoever to the Sri Lankan government, any of the Rajapaksa family or any political connection.
We encourage everyone to do their own research and fact checking (increasingly so in an age where misinformation is rife), especially before writing reviews that can harm or damage a business’s reputation.
If you have seen our social media, we are one of the few Sri Lankan businesses in the UK who have actually spoken out against the government and what they are doing to the country.
As a regular customer of Kolamba we would have hoped that you would have felt comfortable to reach out to us directly and perhaps clarify this before making a public statement.

It was good food but they left out half…
It was good food but they left out half my order and while they did refund me for the items they left out they didn’t give me any thing to make up for the mistake which I would have thought would be good customer service. They did offer me a minor discount on my next purchase but that missed the point, because it assumes a further purchase and also is just a way of garnering future business. The order was incomplete and I had just had a baby and couldn’t drive and had no time to cook a meal for the guests we had arriving that night who were travelling a long distance. And we live out of range of take away services so it created a stressful situation for a tired new mum.
