Daughter signed up for what she believed was a month but they took a whole year subscription. She contacted them and they did refund her the year which was way more than I’d expected after reading other reviews, so hopefully they honour this with other customers too. I think they should make the monthly rate clearer, but overall it could have been much worse.

If I could give it a zero I would. No at all helpful. Other similar sites are much more helpful, not as expensive, and give you a heads up before charging. This company relies on its annual fee and language in the contract that says it automatically renews without notice. Who remembers a year out what subscripton is about to renew. I cancelled while the payment was still pending and they refused to issue a refund. Totally unethical! Stay away.

Save your money..I got the free one question theyb offer..it concerned The Silmarillion and Feanor. I knew their was a passage where Tolkien states Feanor was the greatest of all elves in all ways...in strength and battle skills and in all other ways...they said no such passage exists and no nwhere does Tolkien state Feanor is the greatest at anything...least of all strength and battle skill or anything. great but only "one of"...I read the thing so i knew this was wrong....finally i found it in my own book...here it is:

the passage in the Silmarillion .. Lit Chart says it does not exist...well behold the following:
The Silmarillion passage that describes Fëanor as "the mightiest in all parts of body and mind: in valour, in endurance, in beauty, in understanding, in skill, in strength and subtlety alike, of all the Children of Ilúvatar."

I rest my case: save your money ps they get A+ rating for the Silmarillion because people don't know this is wrong info. Most important Elf in the book too! The book is named after his 3 stones

I cancelled my Litcharts subscription in September and received confirmation that my subscription was cancelled, however, they kept on billing my autopay

An unfortunate situation occurred in which a colleague paid for a subscription via my account without signing into their own. An annual subscription payment was taken. I didn’t dispute this decision but Litcharts then refused to give me access to the paid membership subscription. They claim to take fraud seriously but will simultaneously demand you make the payment whilst blocking your access to their articles. I am utterly disappointed with their response. Moving forward our school will no longer be paying for a litcharts subscription but will now be seeking an alternative sources.

The summaries are solidly low- mid level high school. There is no phone contact for the company. Be sure to check your billing statement monthly if you did not authorize auto-pay. That seems to be their default with no refund despite lack of use.
Providing customer care phone , being more diligent about auto-pay and expedient customer service would be helpful. The experience date is approximate; the issue has been ongoing for the last year.
