Lola's - Lola's Selfridges Birmingham Avis 

There a new energy and finally there is customer service at this location. Have always loved Lola’s cake and over the years do many family & friends have had them from us as Birthday gifts. The service was always awful at Selfidges Birmingham. With this new manager Penny. It’s a breath of fresh air. Always a pleasure to buy cakes not only as gifts but do way for ourselves and such great recommendations and we’ve tried things I normally wouldn’t, sticking to my signature fav’s. But well done in hiring this lady.

Picked a cake out on display and the frosting had a large bump sticking out of the cake which ruined the aesthetics.
Sponge was tasty but there was not enough jam filling in the cake and it was uneven.

Great website,easy to use,good selection of cakes for all occasions,great communications informing me when cake was ready for collection,staff were really helpful and friendly,lovely packaging and presentation and cake was amazing,highly recommend.

I was surprised with a cake from Lola on my 25th birthday, and it was one of the best cakes I’ve had in a long time. From the creamy buttercream frosting to the filling, I highly recommend their cakes for any event or celebration.

Best cakes I’ve had so soft and fluffy I just love the taste of them! Not too sweeet also :)

FAO the Area Manager:
The manager - "Penny", needs an attitude adjustment. When you are serving customers, you don't simply walk off and ignore them. While I was asking about the different ranges of cakes that were on display, “Penny” decided to just walk off to the other side of the counter and started sweeping the floor, messing with the tills etc. Not only is “Penny” rude, but she doesn't take responsibility for her poor behaviour. When I challenged her about this, she resorted to being sarcastic, replying: "Sorry that you feel that way…" Maybe she has spent most of her life being disingenuous so she is unable to differentiate between a genuine apology and sarcasm. I am not sure if “Penny” understands that she actually needs people-skills, when interacting – on a daily basis, with the public. I got the feeling that she seemed to think that it wouldn’t have made a difference if I made a complaint to the head office about her. I was the first customer of the day (22/8/25) – so just imagine how she spoke to the other customers and her staff... I will add that this is not the first time that I have received a less than favourable service from this branch – but then, “Penny” is the manager isn’t she... Order your cakes from the online store, so that you don’t have to deal with this emotionally stunted individual - her attitude stinks.

I also took the time to read some of the other reviews and it is clear that professionalism is lacking in this establishment. I have also contacted the head office to make them aware that "Penny" needs an attitude adjustment. I shouldn't have to leave a review about my experience, but people like "Penny", think that you should tolerate their disrespect.

Very happy with frozen theme cake. Loved it delicious. Truly memorable for my little one and her friends to feast upon.

Honestly, I always get positive feedback everytime I order a cake from Lola's. My daughter's 16th was made extra special with family including her cousins only because it was a Lola's Cupcakes kind of birthday. Never go wrong with the taste, design, softness of the sponge & sweet memories.

Great service when I collected. The cake was boxed and bagged really well which made it easy to transport. Overall appearance and taste was fantastic, everyone in our party enjoyed it

I love Lola’s and when o go to my town centre I always pop in to get one of the cupcakes or slice of cakes. They so delicious and fresh

The cake was amazing. Pick was easy too just not happy with being charged for picking the cake up that’s the reason for the 4 ⭐️ otherwise would’ve been 5.
