Lucyandclaire Charleston Avis 

I purchased two women's tops from Lucy & Clara after seeing one of their Facebook ads. The website gave me the impression that I was buying from a boutique-quality clothing company, but my experience was very different.

The shirts I received looked nothing like the photos on the website. They were made of very poor-quality material, appeared to be synthetic rather than the advertised cotton, had low-quality printed designs, and were significantly oversized despite ordering my usual size Small. The garments also had generic "Made in China" labels and no Lucy & Clara branding.

Another surprise was that my credit card was charged by BEN GLOBAL BUSINESS, not Lucy & Clara.

I contacted the company requesting a full refund because the merchandise was not as described. I am currently waiting for their response, but after researching the company I found many other customers reporting similar experiences, including expensive international return shipping.

My advice is to be very cautious before purchasing from Facebook ads, especially if you are expecting high-quality natural-fiber clothing. I wish I had done more research before ordering.

This company is a scam operated out of China, not Charleston. Although I did receive the clothing after a long delivery wait, the quality is horrible. They appear to be made out of cheap fabric similar to what is used for Halloween costumes. The clothes hang poorly and the fabric smells like petroleum. They look nothing like what was advertised. When I attempt to return, I learned I had to pay the return postage, which was over 200 dollars.

I wrote a review about Lucy and Claire. Advertised as a local mother and daughter boutique out of the US. It is not. It is strictly overseas. With incorrect sizing and questionable material. When asked to return the item you realize you have to ship it overseas and it’s going to cost possibly up to what you paid for your dress. I’m writing this update because I was emailed by Lucy and Claire asking if that my claim had been resolved that I update or remove my review. I have not verified that I received only 30% back instead of returning the dress. This is not a resolution in my opinion. It is a scam. So this is the update. I feel cheated and taken advantage of. I will not remove my review, even though I was asked to.

The clothing is not a comfortable knit, it is clothing with no shape that comes directly to you from China. The descriptions make it seem like you are buying a quality piece of clothing and it is more of the shapeless junk that isn’t made for a woman. Advertisements were very misleading as well as the descriptions. Sizes do not run true and they just say oh sorry. Do not buy from this company.

The quality of the clothing is poor. The sizing was 2 sizes too large on one dress and the other was 6 inches too long, but did fit. Both should have been the same size. When asked to refund it they expected me to send it to China at my expense. So I took the "partial refund" of $18 for a $60 dress. I won't order from them again

Material and construction are very, very poor. Sizing is off. Will be returning.

The material is not what I expected, and it does not fit well. They portray themselves as being a Charleston mother and daughter business, that is a ruse. Returns must go to China. My Post Office told me it would be $35 to return and there is no guarantee that they would even receive it and I would get my refund. This has taught me to always check a business before ordering online and their return policy.

The garments are shoddy. They won’t let you return. Do not buy!!

Awful company with awful clothes. They advertise one thing and then you receive something completely different and then they refuse to refund. Unethical company. Do not purchase anything from them.

This company is a scam. The products are low quality and their advertising is false. They specifically told me the products were cotton/poly blend and I'd be very happy. If there was any cotton in the product it was a thread. The material was slimy and low quality.

The product comes from China and if you want to return you must pay the return shipping which is high and complicated.

There is nothing good about this company - Stay Clear!

I love my 2 dresses. Great value too. I've gotten so many compliments on both of them. Lucy & Claire sent so many update emails from order to delivery, I was impressed.

I bought two outfits that were cheaply made and did not fit. When I asked for a return label and a credit I was told I had to cover the postage to an address in China. This is NOT a quaint store in Charleston. This is a Chineses scam. They should be taken down from Face Book. Do not do business with theses scam Chinese scam artists. .

Same complaint as most of the others. Bought from them because they advertised as a mom and daughter boutique from South Carolina. Turns out it’s a place in China. Quality was cheap. Sizing very off. When I tried to return I emailed for a return authorization as the website instructed, and included the images from my order receipt. They asked for an actual picture showing the item. so I sent that. Then they said they could send a replacement for $9.95 shipping and I could keep the original item; or I could select another item of similar or less cost and pay the 9.95 shipping; or they would give me a 50% store credit. I wrote back I wanted a full refund and haven’t heard back from them since. I should have known not to buy from them-saw the ad on Facebook. I thought I had checked reviews before buying but guess not or saw a fake review site because it said customers were happy. I’ll probably have to write it off as a bad experience and learn my lesson. Buyers definitely beware!!!!!

I just received part of my first order and they are nothing like what was shown on your website. Total misrepresentation of color, fabric, trim, etc,!!! I would never wear either one in the privacy of my home much less in public!​ I have never in my life seen such cheap fabric, I can't even imagine how toxic it must be!! I ordered the small and the blouse is HUGE! The breast is 46 inches! The braided trim on the blouse is not trim, it is the same cheap fabric and only 1/4 in wide. The hem and all the stitching is what you find on very CHEAP clothing.and the sleeve is nothing like your fake photos. The photo has a gathered wrist, mine is 17 inches wide at the wrist, your fake photo also has beads sewn on the fabric. Lucy and Clara Charleston you have used stolen catalog photos and misleading ads to sell cheap, drop-shipped goods!!! I expect a full refund!! What I was sent is not even worth five dollars!!!
07/09/2026 UPDATE- I received an email asking me to remove this review... my response No, Trust Pilot did not have a Lucy and Clara and I happen to know that you are both.

You and many others using the same misinformation to scam people selling your clothing that is nothing like your advertising from drop off China shops.

Just horrible. Took me forever to get them and when they finally arrived, I was shocked at how God awful they were. Terrible material and very I'll fitted. Honestly, I don't know how these people sleep at night. False advertising to the highest degree.

I purchased an outfit from a Lucy & Claire that appeared to be based in Charleston, South Carolina. The seller advertised a return policy, but when I tried to return the item, they repeatedly tried to persuade me not to return it and instead offered other options by email. When I insisted on a refund and return, they gave me a return address in China, not Charleston, which was inconsistent with how the business was presented. I believe the business misled the buyer and may be engaging in deceptive practices.

Update: I did some research on this and Lucy and Clara Charleston is actually who I ordered from and sent such awful product to me. However, in my research it said this company and Lucy and Claire Charleston use the names interchangeably. Either way, reviews for each company are equally bad.

If I could give 0 stars I would. My biggest mistake was not checking here for true reviews before ordering. The two tops I ordered were a disaster. Cheap slick nylon material with the cuts so off that the pockets were nearly located under my armpits! This is the biggest scam company and Facebook should be ashamed to be posting for this horrible product. Buyer beware. Their return process is complex and leaves them an option to refuse to refund if they don’t receive the product as a return which you have to send to China. It’s the most ridiculous process I’ve ever seen.

I DID do some research before purchasing but failed to find these reviews. Wish I had. Cheap, garish colors that failed to look like the classy ads….return to China for the cost of what you’d already paid. Don’t fall for it. Will give away the 5 items I bought to goodwill…..it’s definitely a scam that they have a store anywhere in the US!!!! I don’t think any of the multiple items I purchased have anywhere near the quality of the pictures of clothing shown on their website. There is NO store in Charleston. These are cheap attempts at imitation but fail miserably.

Update: the company reached out via my email after they wrote this response. HA! They say they had zero record of my email/phone # linked with an order from them. Of course! They are claiming no accountability for the order at all! They provided NO email verification after I ordered, and no order slip within the bag of goods either. NOT surprised there is no real follow-up here….Do NOT buy from them.

I just had further follow up with Lucy and Claire regarding my order. I wanted to return two dresses and they wanted me to pay for shipping to China (NO WAY). They then offered me the opportunity to keep my two dresses and a 50% discount on a future order plus two free replacements.

As additional update (July 2026) they ultimately refunded my original source of payment while asking that I keep the dresses that did not fit. I donated those to charity. I got a small portion of my original payment refunded.

Bottom line is there is no easy way to get a refund from this company and they ask that you ship items back to China (at your expense). It took multiple attempts for me to get them to actually reimburse me a portion of my purchase price.

Horrible! Dress was NOTHING like what was pictured...no stretch and way too small. Customer service said they would refund me 20%. Otherwise, return to Asia! I complained to they refunded 30%. This is a scam website...NOT IN CHARLESTON! DIRECTLY FROM ASIA! SAVE YOUR MONEY.
