I love the variety and quality of the ingredients
A big BUT some flavourings are not authentic and taste very harsh especially the Thai green curry.... When did it ever taste like this..
It's down to indervidual taste
I would still say give it a go

I came across MG when searching my local supermarket online for easy healthy food a few months ago. I know it's good for the diet to eat lots of pulses, beans and lentils but trying to make them taste good in a meal so that I would eat them again was too much. I also have an allergy with coriander and was always finding many prepared meals contain that. I was sceptical when looking at the ingredients to the MG products I found but to my delight I managed to find quite a few things that didn't contain coriander and so I put a few packs into my basket and they are absolutely revolutionary for me. My favourite so far is the lentil and chickpea tagine. It is so tasty and has made me like both those things in the lovely sauce that it is all. All I do is heat with a little water in a pan and add some pasta and some spinach (frozen) and sometimes some cooked chicken or prawns and it makes a really tasty and filling meal. I have been sampling the others in the range. Thank you MG for not putting coriander into everything 😊 I have been recommending these to everyone who visits me and I love that you sell them to supermarkets.

I purchased a packet of merchant gourmet spanish style grains from a supermarket, and after microwaving it opened it to find the whole thing contaminated with green and black mould.

I contacted the company, and their response was to offer me a £5 voucher for their products. Considering this is only enough to buy two more packets I thought this was a bit of a pathetic offer. I told them this in an email response and have been ignored since.

My complaint is about the shipping company they use. FedEx is appallingly old fashioned and inefficient. Their website doesn’t work if you need to change delivery arrangements. Buyers of Merchant Gourmet need to be aware of the carrier choice. I’ll certainly never buy from this company again.

Having been a vegetarian for over 40 years now I find the Merchant Gourmet range to be the best way to fuel my cross country running. They're not only nutritious but absolutely delicious too. 5 stars all the way !

I bought the cooked puy and green lentils. These tasted great and were so easy to add to a dish rather than wait for lentils to cook!

Such delicious grains and lentils. Particularly love the meals in minutes range for when I have no time after work. So hard these days to find healthy ready meals but MG’s are actually good for you. Guilt free!

I bought a pack of Spicy Mexican grains to eat as a quick meal while cycle camping in a remote area. They were so hot that they were inedible.
I contacted customer services who were slow to reply. They suggested that it was my taste which was to blame and could not do anything about the matter.
They did not even offer me my money back for a most disappointing experience. Needless to say I went hungry that night.

I purchased their rice and peas sachet and was greeted with a really bad smell when opening up the packet. I then poured out the contents and was greeted by mould! I contacted the company about this, a few days later I received an email offering me a £5 voucher which in fact would be worth around £2.80 when you minus what I paid for it.

I had an issue with one of their products and emailed them about it not really expecting a reply. But the next day I had a reply letting me know they would be looking into it and a few days later an update with what they had done and how they think the issue could have occurred in the first place.
It was nice to see that they acted quickly and kept me updated, most companies now don't give any feedback apart from a generic response.

I purchased a packet of Smoky Style Spanish Rice and Grains upon reccomendation. The contents were completely revolting, mouldy and the stench was horrific. The whole episode was so nauseating that I threw up!!!
I contacted Merchant Gourmet customer services who apologised. Despite me specifically saying that l was put off their products for life, incredibly I was emailed an £8 Merchant Gourmet vourcher as compensation!! To say I was flabbergasted by their offer is an understatement. Cant even get my money back as I don't have the receipt.

Whole chestnuts are lovely well worth the money very fresh really tasty definitely would buy again
