Poor Build Quality and Disappointing Warranty Support

They are the worst builders I’ve dealt with, and I tell everyone I know to avoid them.

They present well during the sales process, but the build quality and after sales support do not match what is promised. We experienced multiple issues with the quality of the home, including structural concerns, and the warranty support process has been extremely disappointing.

I understand that mistakes can happen in any build. No home is perfect. The real issue is the lack of care, accountability, and quality control shown after those issues were raised. If they put the same effort into their builders, workmanship, inspections, and warranty support as they do into selling, they would be a much better company.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend them.

The worst builder you ever met

The worst builder you ever met. Stay away from this builder. Their service and warranty is absolute joke. Waiting from November to fix a faulty electrical cooktop to fix. Now it’s more than 4 months to fix. Cooktop stopped working after 8 months of handover. Claimed as an urgent matter to fix for my tenants and these cowards least bothered to fix. So pls don’t jump into this danger.

Don’t Build With Metricon

Our experience building with Metricon has been extremely disappointing, and we would strongly caution anyone considering them to think twice before signing.

While the Sales team (Saurabh) and Site Construction team (Julia and Robert) have been professional and generally good to deal with, the Pre-Site and Design process has been a complete failure and the worst experience.

The service Metricon advertises, a professional design experience by “experts”, is simply not what we received. Instead, the pre-site phase was disorganised, inconsistent, and lacked even basic attention to detail.

We encountered repeated issues with incorrect and conflicting documentation, and design selections that were discussed and agreed to were not properly recorded or followed. As a result, we were forced to go through multiple variationscnot due to changes on our end, but to correct ongoing errors made by Metricon. We were told this is “all part of the process”. And fair, some variations can be made, except when it’s the customer having to mark up multiple plans for them to get it right, it does raise some questions about their attention to detail or even basic care for customers.

What made the experience even more difficult was the Pre-Site team member we were assigned to (Antonella). Throughout the process, she was consistently unpleasant and challenging to deal with, which only added to the frustration. Instead of feeling supported through what should be an exciting stage, interactions often felt dismissive, difficult, and unnecessarily stressful.

There was also a clear lack of accountability. When errors were identified or outcomes didn’t align with what had been agreed, there was no genuine ownership or reasonable effort to resolve them fairly (to date). The process felt rigid and one-sided, leaving us to deal with the consequences of issues that were not of our making.

At times, it also felt like there was a complete double standard in how matters were handled. Decisions were made or changes implemented that went against what had been agreed (breach of contract). Yet when errors occurred within the design and documentation process, the outcome was effectively “too bad”, leaving us to carry the impact. That imbalance is extremely concerning when you are entering into a contract to build your home.

There is a significant gap between what Metricon promises and what they actually deliver; particularly in the pre-site stage, which is critical to getting your home right. Based on our experience, their processes are not reliable, and that is a major risk when building your home.

Our build is still ongoing and we are still seeing errors based off the Pre Site process, as they continue to build.

If you are considering building your dream home, our honest advice is don’t choose Metricon. Based on what we experienced, we would not trust Metricon to deliver the level of care, accuracy, and professionalism required.

We strongly recommend exploring other builders.

If you ever consider Metricon to build…DON'T.

If you ever consider Metricon to build your dream home, don't.
Just read other Metricon disappointed home owners in Facebook.
31000 people can't be wrong.
They are THE WORST builders EVER.
Your dream home will be your NIGHTMARE home.
You will either sell it up as soon as you can and move on or you will remortgage and begin to spend mega money to fix all the dodgy workmanship.

Untrustworthy

After deposit was paid we seemed to not have any more communication for several weeks. I rang Metricon to find out what was happening and I was finally told that there had been a cyber security attack and time was going to be delayed because of this. As we are elderly clients, time was of importance, so we had to end the contract to find more immediate accommodation. Metricon had said that they would refund the deposit, as no progress had been made since paying it. However, they kept most of our deposit. Charging $1876 for a soil test that only cost around $200 aa confirmed with STA Consulting Engineers. $468 for a Contour Survey in which we had previously paid for ourselves and supplied all documentation required, and $754 for all the lead up info that you get for free if you didn't pay the deposit.

Do not care about their workmanship!! Do not use !!

We were sold this build on the promise that it would take up to one year. In reality, it took almost three years to complete. During that time, there were constant changes to building managers and coordinators, which made communication frustrating and accountability almost non-existent.

Since the build was completed, we have uncovered numerous serious building faults, including:
• No waterproofing in the bathroom cupboard, resulting in water damage
• A recessed light at the front of the house installed as a red light, which is completely inappropriate and highlights poor attention to detail
• Scratches on the mirror present from the time of installation
• A leaking pipe due to incorrect installation
• Wrong materials installed on the exterior, which are not weather- or water-resistant
• And most alarmingly, incorrectly installed balcony glass

Today—three years after the build—a Meriton assessor confirmed that the balcony glass was installed incorrectly, which explains the visible gaps. This is a major safety issue. We are incredibly lucky that we did not have infants or young children playing on that balcony who could have fallen through due to their negligence.

To make matters worse, when you call to report these building faults and ask for assistance, you are made to feel as though it is your fault, despite the issues clearly stemming from poor workmanship and incorrect installation.

The quality of workmanship suggests the use of cheap, unqualified, and unprofessional trades, resulting in substandard and unsafe work. This company appears to prioritise cost-cutting over safety, quality, and basic building standards.

Be extremely careful. Based on our experience, this company does not care about customer safety or delivering decent building work.

Worst build we have ever experienced

We built in eagle point with metricon and it was the worst build we have ever experienced. We have built numerous times before with other builders and never had an issue. This one was the worst. The amount of lies we came across was terrible. The finishing product was disgusting especially the tiling job, we brought up in final walk through to be told “yeah it’s not great but there is nothing we can do now”. We still have defects that need to be fixed from our final walk through 2 months ago that haven’t been fixed. The amount of money we lost was ridiculous. Not to mention the site supervisor and his manager did not want to speak to me as I was female, would only speak to my husband. They dug up our driveway and left it and told us to go had to fix it. Bought up all our concerns to the regional manager and when backed in a corner got no respond back. Worst decision we made building with metricon. Would not recommend at all. The list goes on, on what I could say went on during our build. They didn’t care, had no customer service skills and their trades done a terrible job, not one thing had been done correctly, everything is not level, tiles are uneven, plumbing is terrible and the list continues

Metricon team at Harpley estate

I recently visited a display home and spoke with the Metricon team at the Harpley Estate. After seeing news about their net-zero display homes, I asked the team about it out of curiosity. Surprisingly, they dismissed my question in front of other customers and stated that nothing of that sort was happening within Metricon.
This raises a concern: if their own team is unaware of Metricon’s innovative initiatives, what is their role in guiding customers and representing the company’s values? It’s easy to bluff, but staying informed and up to date is far more important, even if only a small percentage of customers inquire about these innovations.
If Metricon aims to maintain professionalism, it should consider educating staff on new technologies or ensuring that knowledgeable representatives are available.

Where to start!! The most Dodgiest builders - name suits there branding
METRI- ‘CON’
Starting was all honky Dory - free accomodation for studio tour- Gift voucher 20k 50k does not exist - imaginary decoy.
There conniving tactics- nothing such as free lunch.
There certifiers are dodgy as Metricon - all in there back pocket.
Stay away and never sign any contracts with them.
They have a bad name in town- any would be homeowners beware.

Metricon Designer Be careful - Pathetic

Metricon Designer 47 Sq (Job 750897) handed over with multiple missing contract items, cracked walls, paint marks, and a main door that cannot be used.
Four months post-handover and still no action or resolution despite repeated enquiries.
Customer service keeps “forwarding” concerns with no accountability, updates, or timelines—extremely disappointing experience.

DO NOT USE METRICON

These guys are a joke. Worst customer service ever. Have built two properties with them and have been scammed both times. There’s always some fine print that they can screw you over with. Do not use Metricon! I will never recommend or use them again. Disgusting company. Stay clear, you’ve been warned.

Metricon built my house a few months…

Metricon built my house a few months ago, and I honestly wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. My biggest issue started before construction even began they told me I had to build retaining walls on both sides of my property before they could start. I ended up spending around $20,000 on retaining walls.

What they never told me (and what I only found out months later) is that I could have asked my neighbours to pay their share. As a first-time builder, I trusted their advice and thought I had no choice. Now I realise I’ve paid for my neighbour’s share too, which is extremely disappointing.

As for the build quality itself, it feels like everything was done half-heartedly. The paintwork is terrible you can clearly see different shades of paint and many spots where walls were damaged, patched, and painted over. When sunlight hits the walls, the imperfections stand out everywhere.

Even my garage floor looked awful, covered in leftover building residue that wasn’t cleaned properly. For a new build, this level of finish is unacceptable.

I expected a professional builder to be upfront and deliver a quality product. Sadly, Metricon fell well short of that. That was my experience with them and I didn’t mention everything just because I didn’t want to keep this review way long.

I am not Metricon customer and I thank…

I am not Metricon customer and I thank God almighty for that blessing. This company have got zero social ethics. There is a construction site in my neighbourhood and they have made hell for me.
One day I caught one of the on-site workers jumping into my property and using my electricity using a long cable. I launched an official complain but as expected just a casual call
They result was 3 days later 6:30 am in the morning another worker just smashed knocking my door that I need to use your power and i was like man is this the time.
Then on-site workers put on such a loud music that it is difficult for us to stay inside home. Talk to the site manager and he simply said "I didnt find it unreasonable and I am not responsible for whatever the HECK is happening in your home".

Absolutely pathetic response for…

Absolutely pathetic response for requests submitted under warranty. Be very very careful. They will find every excuse not to fulfill their obligations. Pathetic. The minimum standard plumbing is for the washing machine to dispose of water into the laundry basin???? This is prehistoric. They provide a pdf with instructions and a plumbing pipe which doesn’t exist. I try to explain this and they dismiss me with a ‘get a plumber to fix it’. The pdf provided clearly states that if a plumber is engaged , Metricon won’t cover any damage caused. Responses to emails are days and days apart. My pantry door, huge, is hanging off its hinges due to poor workmanship. It’s a safety risk. And it’s taken them over a month to get anyone to come fix it and still nothing has been done. The bath tub has dents in it. Where is the customer service and duty of care????

Extremely Disappointed with Metricon’s Conduct

Just like many others have mentioned in their reviews, Metricon is currently building right next door to our block, and our experience has been nothing short of frustrating. The level of disrespect they’ve shown to us as neighbours is simply unacceptable.

They have illegally dumped various building materials onto our property without permission — including large piles of soil, concrete, temporary fencing, and other construction debris. This isn't a one-off incident either — it’s been ongoing, and we've documented everything. We’ve made multiple attempts to contact them to resolve the issue, but our calls and messages have gone unanswered.

Because of the mess they’ve left behind, we’re now unable to put up our own temporary fencing, which is delaying progress on our side and creating unnecessary stress.

It's incredibly disappointing to see a company of this size show such disregard for neighbouring properties and basic professional courtesy.

We can only hope our own builder behaves with much more respect toward others. Based on what we’ve experienced, I strongly advise others to think twice before building with Metricon. If this is how they treat those around them, I’d be concerned about how they treat their own clients.

They don't keep their word.

Firstly Metricon reneged on their own written and signed contracts during the presite stage. We complained to head office and walked away. They persuaded us to come back with big promises.
I should have gone with my gut!
Yes the build was fast, to fast.
The slab was not properly finished before the frame went up. We have it in writing that the slab would be levelled. No.
The wrong frame was erected! We picked it up, not the site supervisor! We were made to feel bad for demanding the 450mm frame we paid for. The walls were crooked and in the wrong place. This was finally fixed but the slab was not!
When we got to handover, the floor was and is noticeably uneven. The repairs to the floor made it worse and many areas were denied repairs. The paint work is still bad, even though the painter's were called back. They even left paint on the floor. Bricks are loose and the toilet window doesn't close, let alone the warped exterior door.
After another complaint about the floor, they sent out two men. One from Metricon and one from Carpet Call. Mr Metricon was rude, even refusing to remove his shoes. They reluctantly agreed to fix two areas but deny any other issues with the floor, claiming they are within tolerance! What a joke, an independent builder found multiple areas well out of tolerance in two rooms and the hallway. Metricon has not responded to any of our correspondence!
STAY AWAY!
They now have the hide to offer a house and land package across the road from us!

MetriCON, stay away

we started building with metricon last year and the journey has been nothing but stressful and disappointing. We engaged a private inspector for all stages of the build and sent the reports to the site supervisor hoping that everything would be done. We requested for photos of when the defects were fixed which never happened. Comes time of settlement and we pointed out so many defects at final pre handover inspections. We were told by the site supervisor that all these will be fixed as a part of service and warranty and there wont be any issues. Now it has been almost 6 months and i am still chasing resolutions to the defects raised with them. The kitchen benchtop has scratches all over, door stops missing for sliding doors, cracks running through the roof of the ceiling in our lounge. The installed the front entry door wrong, blinds missing for one of the windows when the contract very clearly stated that blinds are included for all the windows. Multiple emails sent to customer service manager, warranty manager and no response even after requesting updates. Only when I sent an email stating that I will be writing VCAT to intervene I got a response to few items. The request to get the scratches on kitchen benchtop fixed was declined stating that it is not a QA item, request to get the door stops done - response from metricon - it wasnt raised at the time of final inspection. crack running through the lounge - metricon's reponse it is within 1MM tolerance.There are scratches on windows across the house, metricon's response they are glue residue (but no action taken). Garage roof started sagging and they sent a tradie who covered it up with a filler and painted over it (it is not solving the problem, it is just covering it up).

Metricon building on the next block to…

Metricon building on the next block to ours. Can't believe how dirty and disrespectful the builders have been in dumping waste cement etc on our block, driving over footpaths and driveway that service our block- causing cracking! No reply to requests to contact us, continual dumping of rubbish such as paint containers and other materials, old fencing. They even cut rope and the orange plastic barrier material I had put up so they could drive trucks onto our block to mix cement, drag rubbish from their build onto our block. The build workmanship reflects the slap dash approach to all facets of the build as far as I can observe.
